Note to users who upgraded: the midi channel defaulted to 1 (at least for me). I had previously set my Korg MS2000 to midi channel 16, so it wasn't talking to my iPad. A simple reset 4:05 of on my synth to match the Patchbase default of 1 got my iPad and synth talking again. Doesn't matter which you switch, the synth or the app. They just have to match.
Hey there trying to use my Alesis Micron strait up with no internet & use Irig2 from the Midi-Out to the Midi-In The IRig is receiving Midi signal that goes USB but nothing is going into the app. Most of the tutorials are about Connecting Via Bluetooth & Internet connections, Some venues do not have that easily available. is this App only delegated to the Ipad?
The app is for iPad and Mac. The Mac version is newer. You only need internet to make the purchase, but not to use the app. There's more info on debugging your MIDI setup here: coffeeshopped.com/patch-base/help/ipad/midi-setup-and-troubleshooting
@@Coffeeshopped What's the minimum required iOS version? I own iPads, but no software I look at is ever compatible with them, whereas even things written for Windows XP tend to still work fine on my PC.
@@TooSlowTube The current version of Patch Base runs on iOS 9, although soon the minimum will be iOS 11 because Apple is changing some requirements on me and won't allow further updates to iOS 9 or 10 soon.
@@Coffeeshopped Thanks. That's my problem with iOS. It seems to be designed to make older iPads obsolete. I've kept my iPad 3 on iOS7.something, but if I "upgraded" it to iOS 9, killing its performance, it would only be a useful for a short while. I should have said, I can find software written recently, that runs fine on XP too - I have an old Dell laptop that still has it on, only ever used offline. It's surprising what runs on it. Meanwhile, my iPads now only ever get used to run ClearTune, and I've given up on buying more software for them.
O.k. SO I've go a question about the coffeshopped editor I have a yamaha tg 77 and I want to edit it with an ipad Since the tg 77 midi in/out will have to be used for the editor , is there a way to trigger sounds ( note on/off's ) from the ipad's editor to the tg 77 ?
Yes, there's an in-app keyboard to play notes from within the app while you're editing. Alternatively, you could hook in an external MIDI controller. I talk a bit about that here: coffeeshopped.com/patch-base/help/ipad/integrating-with-other-midi-hardware
Yes. Top left side of the app there's a piano icon. Tap that and a small keyboard pops up at the bottom that you can use to trigger the sound you're editing.
Hey Chadwick, I'm loving the look of the new app! After spending some time away from my JV1010 I wanted to give it a try with this new update. I'm not able to fetch any data however I can play the on-screen keyboard. I'm going to global settings to change my channel (which I think is the problem) and its showing "Device #17" & every time I try to change the number the app crashes :( have you heard of this happening elsewhere / have any possible solutions? I'm looking forward to digging into the new update once I can get the devices to communicate.
Hi had PatchBase for a while now and use it for my Korg FM mainly as don’t have any other hardware synths in the list at present. I noticed in the update notes that you given a option to go down the subscription route to own all the patch base synth templates. Does this effect my Volca FM IAP or am I still able to use just what I’ve purchased without having to subscribe now. I’m away from my Synth so cannot check ?
My keyboard (MPK Mini) isn't working with the Patch Base app. I have the MPK connected with the lightning adapter, I have the TX7 with the Yamaha Bluetooth MIDI (in/out) The TX7 sounds play when I touch the pads on the app, and it comes thru my headphones plugged into the TX7, but the keyboard doesn't control anything. Help?🤔
You'll need separate software running on the iPad that routes the MIDI from your MPK thru the iPad to the TX7. See this page: coffeeshopped.com/patch-base/help/ipad/integrating-with-other-midi-hardware
Thanks for getting the app, and the kind words. Bluetooth MIDI works. WiFi should too. There are more details on that kind of setup here: coffeeshopped.com/2015/05/using-wireless-midi-to-connect-your-ipad-or-iphone-to-your-computer-and-hardware-synths If you have further questions, please get in touch via in-app support, or the Coffeeshopped website, thanks.
Hi all, I’ve managed to link it up to my D50 fine, and I can adjust faders etc on the app to affect the synth, I can also call up the synth preset to load into patch base, so midi is working both ways. But, when I try and patch dump the entire synth to a library in patch base, it just says 0 bytes of 3890 or something like that. If I wait for fifteen mins even there’s not any progress. I’m confused as the midi is working. I even tried using Better live Routings. No joy.
I am having the same issue with my JV-1080 while fetching. I am also receiving errors when performing a bulk midi dump. I am thinking it may be my interface, which is a MOTU midi express 128. These units commonly have issues handling large SysEx messages. Perhaps it's your interface?
@@howdyjulian i dont know if you sorted this, but i had the same issue with my XV5050 going through my MOTU 828mk2 via midi. Luckily i dug out my old emagic MT4 and it worked fine after that. Now im just having an issue pulling the banks and it keeping them. I'll change bank, try and pull it down, then it briefly shows the patch names then defaults back to the original bank
It really depends on the format of the bank file. But you can always load a bank file to your synth directly using something like Sysex Librarian (free), and then fetch the patches into Patch Base from there.

Changes from Patch Base are sent immediately to the DX200. But the DX200 has various limitations on what can be changed in realtime. I don't remember off-hand what all the limitations are, but if you have a DX200, you can always try the app out with the free trial and see if you like it.
