Yes, I know football has changed so much over the past twenty years & they are probably better athletes today, but the Kerry four in a row team were a joy to watch..🍀
@@handeyecoordinationskills ..My thoughts exactly. I know Kerry were the masters of the handpass, but we also had brilliant fielders & long passing. It’s probably because I’m getting old, but sometimes I long for the 80’s & not just for the football.🍀
@@handeyecoordinationskills ..Thank heavens for the hurling, now that’s a true Gaelic game. I used to love the football, but can’t stand the modern version at all. I remember the old format when Championship football meant you had one chance or you were out, but not anymore. Sorry I whinge so much, but for me, this Kerry team were pure magic..🍀
I remember Mick O'Dwyer on the Late Late Show years ago He spoke about this match. He couldn't believe they got out of Croke Park still with the Sam Maguire. Said they should have lost that one. they got out of jail
The Golden Age of Gaelic Football, which was first pioneered by the great Kevin Heffernan and Mick O’ Dwyer. Unfortunately this style of clever football didn’t last all that long and has become progressively boring and now has become sterile and unwatchable. Shame on those teams who bring their half forwards back into defence which means there are no less than 15 players in a 40 yard zone, what utter dog turd. This was a fine Roscommon team who made a fist of it against that great Kerry side, got a great goal but were pipped at the post.
For me the best side that ever played gaa, Kerry were the best here for 4-7 yrs and I'm a cork man

@@WolfeTone66 indeed , I don't like this new type of football, it's called handball now 🙄

A good match in terrible conditions. The ball from Finneran at 1.08.27 was glorious.
Roscommon beat themselves that day.
How many frees does that Monaghan referee give to Kerry in this game, sweet Jesus talking about the bigger teams getting the luck ,
Football was played the way it was supposed to be played back then
It reminds me of how we played it when I was under12. A lot of kick and hope.

Absolutely agree..I know it’s probably my age, but Gaelic football had a real purity back then ..💚
Kerry got a lot of soft frees in this game, and im a kerryman...
The main fella in green looks a bit like Fred West.
One of the worst finals in history
Very poor match but the first competitive all ireland for 4 years
Sure Dublin v Tyrone was over by half time
