Man Nick. You inspire me so much. When I started producing beats, learning stuff in FL was so difficult for me. I searched for tutorials on YT and yours was the first that came up. Its been 2 yrs since that day and I'm so happy that my first steps towards this journey had a huge role filled by you. I love singing and rapping too so I really wanted to make my own beats as my friends who knew production never wanted to work with me maybe bc they never believed in me. I wanna prove them wrong and I've been trying to improve ever since. Thank you for everything Nick. Love from Darjeeling❤
Keep it up man, you got this. I can relate to that too. No one is gonna believe in you in the beginning, you have to do all on your own. Just keep grinding.
bro i've spent time away from producing, been distracting myself in other ways even though i think about music every single day. it often feels overwhelming, but im gonna get back starting today. i appreciate you and everybody else pushing hard and spreading good messages.
Always inspiring me every video. That story line changed the way i look at making loops for sure. Also not having everything on time, making it human, is what gives it the feel. Nick YOU made me believe i could be a producer. YOU! I work mainly with NBA Youngboy now and i even got to meet him and make some songs in person with him last month, and YOU are the reason i could do that. Keep uploading videos bro, i'm gonna click every single time and look to learn from a hitmaker. The real 🐐!
starting with just the vanilla chord progression, adding notes to each chord, and then manipulating where individual notes start and end is genius. much more interesting than your typical cookie cutter arpeggiated pattern - but as you showed you can also layer with those to create something really deep and interesting.
Brother a doordasher is not ballin from musical prowess like you. You are getting what you ordered, as fast possible, and frankly, I’m just happy I ever get everything I payed for
More tutorials in this style of you explaining what you’re doing would be awesome. Sometimes you work so fast it’s hard to follow what your doing and how your doing it. So if you can more explanations would be great thanks.
Thank you!!! I have been searching and searching, and I really haven't seen any other music production or songwriting TH-camr talk about what to do with the chord progressions they're teaching people to make. You have just made my life so much easier! And like others in these comments, I love the story metaphor for the notes. It meshes really well with the idea that songwriting is also fundamentally about telling stories.
I'm so happy that i found you back then. I really love your Kind of people bro and pls you have to know that you chanced my life in a right direction. And i hope we can see some type of this videos again because no one explained this whole process better then you got.
man this is fucking gold! I have been wanting to learn making beats for a long time, but i really havent found anyone that would explain things that would fit me.. Man.. You do it so clearly, it feels like i had all this knowledge for a long time after i watched your video(s). Something with other producers and how they teach just doesnt sit, but i found you and i am insanely grateful. You are making a huge difference in the world Nick, you are truly the MVP. Cheers.
damn nick, the idea with the stories for every note in a chord is so genius man, that way you can create dope melodies from your feelings and what you want to tell!!
Nick I got a question for you. How much do you hear ahead when you’re adding those notes and melodies into the chords? Like when you’re adding those stories can you hear the journey when you start clicking them in or does it kind of reveal itself to you as you’re previewing what note it can go to on the piano roll? Hope that makes sense to you
it kinda reveals itself to me in my head as im pressing play and hearing what notes it can go to . i try a few melodies in my head and then try to go with what feels least forced
I hope you guys make it one day i really want to as well, a good tip for making better melodies is to listen to unfamiliar music gives you more ideas and widen your sound alot
Teaching is the highest form of learning bro. Let’s ride the wave. How many years now in FL have you been messing around if I may asking. I like your wide array of style and how listenable everything is. Something to strive for. What’s your advice to share music once you think it’s at professional level, just break sound cloud?
Nick, I’ve been watching your videos for quite some time. Just want to say thank you. Quick question though if you don’t mind. When you are making your simple chord progression are you staying within the scale or is it more about what you’re feeling?
dude... you are an absolute beast... Newish to making beats but played music my whole life...I can follow along but can't get my mouse to move that fast. Can you make a beat on Ableton? started on FL but my buddies convinced me to buy Ableton and not sure if I should switch back to FL
I remember watching you live stream years ago and I watched you make a hit beat for juice Wrld ! Was crazy bro ! I forget the song name but I got chills when I watched that magic unveil
This is similar like i making my melodies, just start with a basic chordprogression and add more notes to write your own story. It's kind of crazy if you change one note the outcome is totally different :) Love your Videos Nick, but the end was funny ^^ 😄
I learned how to make Melodie’s from watching your videos in the past 🙏🏾 thank you so much for making this video. Super helpful 🔥💯 keep cookin up broski
Bro what are the odds, a few days ago I posted a video about you. @@boyarmira Ive actually made so many videos that are influenced by your style, I even have sampled YOUR vocals haha. I started producing music because of you, and now I have 500 subscribers, thank you for showing me whats possible.
ngl the part where u broke down melodies as each voice having a story was fucking gold 🔥
fax never really felt that perspective but that’s that intellectual sauce 😂🔥
That part! 💯
