Mr. Lemoine....thank you for sharing your life with us. I'm a similar type personality. I've been in Public Safety (Fire, Rescue, and Police) for 28 years. I even used to fly small airplanes. I've wanted to go back to flight school to learn helicopters for a long time, but money, time, and an on-duty motorcycle crash have kinda got in the way for a few years. Being able to live vicariously through you for your rotor wing training is going to be fun until I can once again get in the cockpit. Thanks again for sharing and good luck on flight school!
I really enjoy your videos and professionalism, and it's awesome to see you doing this. As a high time dual rated pilot, I can offer a little insight. 1. In an airplane, when you want to turn you add a little aileron and rudder, in a helicopter when you want to turn, you just think about... and you're turning. 2. In an airplane when you have an emergency, make yourself a cup of coffee and eventually work the problem out. In a helicopter when you have an emergency, always be prepared to lower the collective immediately, maintain rotor RPM, and work on the problem. 3. In flight, a helicopter flies exactly like an airplane. Pitch for airspeed and power for altitude. The difficulties are in transition from hover to flight, and flight to hover, and of course learning the hover. 4. In any aircraft, airplane or helicopter, the single most important thing you can do at all times, no matter what else is happening, is, Fly The Aircraft!
There’s so much information coming at you. I would need many months of ground practice before I would even attempt to take a practice flight with an instructor. Props to all you pilots out there!

Thanks for that great intro to helicopter flying. I'm a pilot but have never flown a helicopter. Your instructor mentioned the cyclic and collective, so I went to wikipedia and read about those. Between your video and that reading , I know a lot more than I did about a half hour ago.
Yay, that was so cool Mover, very happy for you. It's interesting to see you out of your element (plane guy, lol) but typically you handled it well - coming from the instructor anyway! I look forward to seeing the next one, cheers mate.
Congrats Mover! Looking good for first time out!! I very highly doubt any of us here could do better. I know that if that was me the instructor would be grabbing the controls all the time and freaking out bc I'd be wanting to manhandle the controls. You did an excellent job listening to his instructions.
Welcome to the real way to fly! LOL! Your background will help you more than you think. I have many hours in the R-22 and it is a great training helicopter. A training tip: Keep your eyes on the horizon while picking up, hovering, and landing. Don't think about moving the controls, let your subconscious fly the aircraft, you will understand later into your training what I am getting at. When trying to hover think about what is beyond the horizon. If it is a road with cars, think about where the people are going, if it nothing just grass and hills think about the scenery. Once a student stops actively thinking about hovering, it all comes together. You will see! One of the best days in a student's path to becoming a helicopter pilot is the day they learn to hover by themselves. Good Luck!!
" The ground will find you " Oh, yes. I have flown fixed wing in the real world. I flew rotary wing ( Bell Jet Ranger 206 ) in simulation. Helo is one unforgiving aircraft. I had two noteworthy mishaps, and almost a third from being too touchy on the controls and over correcting. Add in a healthy dose of stupidity. My rotary wing training was all from books. Mover, you did an outstanding job.
Great video Mover. A big thanks to you and Lester for that ride along. I may have missed an in cockpit video of you, but I noticed in this one, you, like the Blues, have your leg supporting your arm so that you could make small, precise movements on the controls. I'm paying some attention with these 72 year old eyes, lol. That would problem lessen the fatigue factor when operating that type of aircraft? Lester IS a damn good instructor with mile a minute running commentary, great tour type info and rapid but clear instruction. He puts out a lot of information but its not overwhelming or mind numbing. I'd like to take a first lesson with him anytime. This and your Stephanie video are possibly my two favorites that you have published. Stay safe.

I like the airwolf music for the preflight.
Great job! Reminds me of the old TH55 days. Interesting cyclic setup. Keeping a good ground track evaded me during early training 😳
Love the Airwolf cover during preflight! Lol
90Mph, Wow! Every new en-devour is a new challenge! Hats Off as we never stop learning and always chasing our Dreams! Thumbs Up for Sharing this Video!
Man, CW you are becoming a Legend of Flight with all this Certs and Checkrides. Now even Rotorcrafts are being mastered. I only hope I could attain such Godly status in my age.
Thanks for that great intro to helicopter flying. I'm a pilot but have never flown a helicopter. Your instructor mentioned the cyclic and collective, so I went to wikipedia and read about those. Between your video and that reading , I know a lot more than I did about a half hour ago.
I love the modified 'Airwolf' theme!!! YA!!!!!!
LOL some of us are old enough to catch this one
Discount Airwolf.. if only you could find had an instructor who looked like a discount Jan-Michael Vincent. xD
Thanks for honestly sharing some of your life experiences with us. Happy, safe flying. Continue writing 😉 Hugs to S & K.
Yay, that was so cool Mover, very happy for you. It's interesting to see you out of your element (plane guy, lol) but typically you handled it well - coming from the instructor anyway! I look forward to seeing the next one, cheers mate.
Next lesson you should go decked out in the full flight suit, CSU-13 and bone dome, with attached piddle packs. Scare your instructor.
Right on! I learned in the -22. Great ship, it's like a convertible with the doors are off. Really really nimble and a joy to fly. :)
Congrats Mover! Looking good for first time out!! I very highly doubt any of us here could do better. I know that if that was me the instructor would be grabbing the controls all the time and freaking out bc I'd be wanting to manhandle the controls. You did an excellent job listening to his instructions.
Great flight and cool seeing Lakefront Airport. I haven't been there in decades.
Good job with the hover Mover. This reminds me of my demo fly. We even did an autorotation, rpm low and down just like a roller coaster ride.
Good Luck!!
Niiice. If you ain't learning you ain't living!! Enjoy the ride. Thanks for sharing the experience with us!

Stay safe.
most down to earth guy i have seen in a youtube video.. LOVED your review on top gun 2.. all the best from sweden,... new follower for sure
This is so cool. Glad to see you doing it. (Haven't been to Lakefront since back in high school).
