Need to address settling over time, which causes cracks. Same with cold, wet, icy weather. I noticed in nearly all the interior shots there were no decorations and the paint had to be sprayed to go over those rough walls. How about some sort of hangers embedded in the walls to hang sheet rock in interior? Then you can have wallpaper, rolled paint, hang pictures, hang TV mounts, run electrical and not have the mount be all sloppy, etc. In a similar way, you could have embedded attachment points on the outside for a facade to attach. Facade could be fake rock wall (I've seen those), could be a more typical looking siding or actual natural rock. Main thing is you need to address mount points present or future and how they attach. Can a person drill these 3D printed houses to mount something?
The problem with this texture on the outside is mold that will settle there they will need to be powerwashed regularly and on the interior now you have to vacuum walls

As cool as it is to see a house being build with a 3D printer, almost every finished structure is as astatically pleasing as as freshly squeezed pimple . There are simpler, easier and more practical ways to build a house. Unless of course, you want your home to look like one of those WW2 bunkers that the Germans build in Normandy in preparation for Allied invasion and even those had a better looking finish.
The technology is amazing. I'm a fan of the Hadrian X because of the flat surfaces. However, I really have a high hate reaction to the gloppy, bumpy, ugly other ones. I hope they do something to smooth all that out and make it more friendly looking. Right now it all looks so....cold and institutional.
It is not a "concrete" house..it is a "mortar" house..concrete must consist of aggregate, sand and cement..whereas mortar is a mixture of cement and sand only without coarse aggregate.
I think they should combine the technologies, alternate rows of concrete and block, and add a third trowelling robot to smooth the joints... Or spend all of this money on something useful and leave the masonry to the masons.
I like the idea for cheap housing. But that doesn't mean it has to get rid of masonry. I personally think it looks like poop. Needs finish work. Good for us poor people. May actually increase jobs. Could possibly even make the concrete industry a little more lucrative with a higher demand for the product. Perhaps even future advancements of some kind?
Сделано конечно красиво но есть одно но, бетон не дышит и в нем не так хорошо как в кирпичном и пеноблочном доме. Так что на счет экологичности тут спорный вопрос.
I think instead of concrete a composite material would be better, with a smoother finish and more easily shaped, concrete by nature has limitations were as composite materials have many advantages, Composites can now be made from landfill trash, plastic bottles etc and just about anything, concrete uses all new materials so drains earths ores and minerals, composites dont crack and are easily made fire resistant, wonder if anyone has ever used such a material,
Most people when presented with a novelty find it hard to evaluate facts rationally, this makes the adoption of new technologies very risky. The awful aesthetics and energy costs of concrete aside I suspect that cracking and leaks will be the downfall of a lot of these designs.
I would then assume as technology improves there will be other materials being used here. I think this is like the beta version of something much more impressive in the future.
Good points. It will have to improve because right now it is not good enough. The loss of people with trade skills is happening anyway - I can say that in trying to find them now.
