55 years ago, when I was 15, my dad put me on a John Deere 95 combine with a 20 ft header and we cut a lot of wheat. Nothing was automated -- we had to get off the machine and count wheat kernels in front of the combine (wind thresh) under the combine (header thresh) and behind the combine ( over throw) to see if we had everything set right, then get back on the machine and manually adjust everything to have less loss.
No cab and power steering was rudimentary on that machine.
Yeah, that new machine is straight out of "Star Wars" compared to the old ones.
Wild Turkey my dad started our farm and company that me and my brother run now, and he feels exactly the same way. He started with a MF 35 i think, and today we have anywhere from 15-25 tractors running all year, right now we have 19. And some of the tractors we are buying today, he says it makes him feel so stupid. We dont run combines with these sizes, but we everything you can think of.

I always enjoy riding shotgun with my brother-in-law in his 9500. Us non farmers are easy to entertain!
Nice new efficient combine. IT mows fast so you need the network of cart truck to keep up. I'm sure J&m will fix what you got, seems like a good cart company.

Hey guys great videos, that new 790 sure can eat the corn, she does a nice Job with stompers and chopper head. Is the unload gearbox any quieter then 9870? Nice to see steel fuel tank in her also, never likes those plastic tanks. Are you guys Gona run with duals, or putting tracks system on her?

On my brothers farm they run cats and cnh. But any operator can break anything. Lol
we call em death knobs... in the car buisness... butt... if u gotta back up any kinda trailer in maine roads.. tight and windy... with loads of trees or boulders... best thing ever... andd of course.. best for the ole tractors

how long is that unload auger on the 790 and is it big enough to push the 50 ft grain table or just the 40 or 45 table

What made the decision to go with duals over the tracks? Was it just a monetary thing? Either way, one nice ride!!!!

Don't knock voice texting, it's safer while driving, keeps your head up so you're aware of what's going on at work. I feel alot safer voice texting, my friend had to talk me into it.

Dang... hard to believe watching that thing run so fast. It almost seems like it was sped up on the video. I've never been able to run corn more than about 2.5, and that was really dry and perfect conditions. I've been out of it for so many years, this stuff all looks like Star Wars farming or something.
Is that a brand new s790? Are yall leasing it or did you buy it? I rode in a new s780 earlier this ear and that crop sense is a thing of beauty. Fridge in the buddy seat is good for cold snacks as well.

@@LarsonFarms If you don't mind me asking, how long of a lease? My cousin in law did a 600 hour on that s780... still cost a mint, but that thing smoked all of the other combines.

@@LarsonFarms I didnt ask my CIL, but is that separator hours or engine hours? I'd imagine its separator hours, but please correct me if I am wrong.
@@LarsonFarms 1500 engine or separator hrs? After 1500 separator hrs. A combine needs to go if you have a lot to do. Seems they start to become problematic after 1500 separator hrs Just my opinion.
