I feel like the only reason you have a rocky start to new sets is because you don't study going into them. Most of the big names seem to have an idea, going into a set, what works, what's great/horrible, etc. One of the reasons I love watching you is because you do your own thing and it's often more fun to watch you figure it out on the fly than someone that's trying to run a game plan.
I agree here, I've seen quite a few times that would have been wonderful if he knew the set better and knew what to play around or expect. Once he has the set down it's a pretty dramatic increase
I actually have started taking the same approach to draft and have had more fun and success than ever in my 16 years of magic. It is really easy to hear a big name say x is great and then think it has to be your pick. Nah play your game
@@CapoDV couldnt agree more. I stopped studying set reviews and 17 lands, and just explore my way through the set. Sure i lose a few more gems on average but when I trophy its 10x more satisfying. More fun per gem and actually a better overall experience.

Can someone explain me why at 41:16 opponent plays Stockpiling Celebrant targeting Edgewall Pack, and after the resolution of Frantic Firebolt and Moment of Valor, it isn't returned to opponent's hand? I don't get it. Thank you
The card says "ETB: You may return target to hand". You must choose a target when the creature enters the battlefield, and because it says 'may', you make the choice of whether or not to return it to hand as the trigger resolves.
Imodanes recruiter is performing better than everything except for gruff triplets, virtue of persistence, and redcap gutter-dweller in the data currently. The card is crazy and the community hasn't caught on yet, there are 107 cards being picked more highly than it at present and that's pretty ridiculous.
Merry bard is a very good creature in these type of decks, 1 card celebration enabler and young hero role grows your weak creatures 2-3 times , i think its prob the best role or at least tied with wicked role

That being said, I still think your deck got there though, and sometimes that's just how things go. Felt like there had to have been multiple people cutting white hard. I think Leyline wasn't a bad pick up. Yes later in the game as a top deck it's awful. Having it in your starting hand it can be back breaking and easily reach 4-6 extra face damage in the game. With the r/w archetype I think that can be relevant with game plan of a low to the ground deck like that.
Having it in your opener is basically a mulligan for the important turns. Even if you're playing to maximize its value, you're slowing yourself down a lot, in your agro deck, for little actual payoff. Seems terrible

gnawing crescendo has been great for me in rw; usually ends up being a rankle's prank without the discard side that refunds you two 1/1's

Young hero's role is actually the best in aggro. Gingerbrute alone is insane with it.

Adding 1 mana to each spell slows you down a ton
So it's bad way more often than it's good. Better off playing another 2 drop/removal spell/card that actually does something.
It's terrible in the opener too cause if you want to actually pay for the ping you effectively have to give your opponent a free time walk.
