Description: We are continuing readings from the Will and Ariel Durant classic "The Lessons of History."
I look at the opening chapters that express the reluctance to claim knowledge of absolute truths derived from the study of the past, except perhaps the useful idea that no historian can be objective; after all, there's always an inherent bias in the act of choosing an area to focus on, right? Instead, their extensive, lifetime study of history has humbled them, but also left them with the wisdom that everyone has a unique truth.
With this in mind, maybe the little known eras and vast unknown eons of human history can eventually shed light on how we are, in order to sublimate profound meaning out of the moment that we exist. Thanks for watching!

One day maybe you could go back waaaay further and do a history of early hominids; those directly in our lineage and those that evolved alongside us- similarities, differences, interactions etc.

Let's Find Out very much. I support you all the way with your open letter by the way. His video on civilization was of poor taste in my opinion. I think our system is the best one could think of still. There are better systems for sure but to me regressing into dark ages is not one. It would be throwing away the great works of so many minds much greater than his. I'd even wager our domination on earth is just natural. And if it brings to our downfall then so be it. Trying to prevent it is not more natural than not trying to. I'd like to see your opinion about that. The worst was when he said "I don't care about Washington". It just denotes a lack of judgement and a cheap device to attract young viewer base (made explicit when he addressed people who lived the modern life for 20 years). Such disregard for knowledge or intelligence crossed me. It is so dangerous and actually mirrors fundamentalist views of society. He would readily burn books and destroy culture for the sake of his convictions if he went further with them.
I love the content of your videos but would watch them much more frequently if they had less background noise. The background noise distracts from your great relaxing and interesting content!
