Crazy bro, i might of saw this video five years back but now i completed my b.arch
Im studing in BVDU COA pune, 1st semester.....our 6th week marking is going on...i could relate so much when u said "poori raat jaagna padhta hai"....2 days before yestrrday, i slept for 2 hrs...1 day before yesterday, i did not at all the whole night...yesterday i slept only for 2 hrs .....but at the end ....when u r appreciated in class for ur timely submitted and quality work, i swear ITS WORTH IT!!!!! My best advice for freshers is to not pursue their future career in architecture. Main reasons are,
1) Architecture is considered as one of the most time consuming professions.
2) Architecture is a profession about perfection. It means that your work, assignments, journals, models, portfolios should be neat and well maintained.
3) The work load in this profession is way too much. You will definitely experience sleepless nights due to the work load.
4) Architecture is not just a profession about drawing, it is about ideas. If you don't have any ideas about your design, your college life becomes a nightmare.
5) The expenses in this field is beyond our expectations. The expenses for the stationary for the first year is just above 30000.
6) The worst point about this profession is that according to the working hours spent on architecture, it is one of the most underpaid professions in India. For a construction project an architect gets only 2.5% of the total construction budget.
Now these points mentioned above are based on my own personal experience. I'm currently a 2nd year architectural student but after experiencing the above points, I'm regretting my decision for choosing architecture as my future career.
