    I have this lens on my x-pro 1. Perfect combination. I don't think I am likely to ever need anything else.

    The 27 mm 2.8 pancake lens is even more compact and an amazing lens. Equiv of 40 mm and has a great feel to it when shooting with a XPRO 3 (or any Fuji camera honestly).

      Yeah that’s a great focal length. I’m a sucka for 50mm and I cannot lie

      I'd really like a 27mm but they are almost impossible to find at the moment, and used ones are therefore very expensive, some offered at more than the new price.

      I agree. 27mm is a gem for the Xpro series. I have both and the 35mm is more of a portrait lens for me. In tight spaces its too tight.

      For what it’s worth, I bought the 27mm pancake and returned it so I could re-buy the 35mm F2. I take a lot of people shots and much prefer the 50mm equivalent FOV and F2 depth of field.

    This lens and the 16mmf2.8 are my two primes for the XE2, but the 35 definitely gets used a lot more. Super light and a joy to use. 🤙🏼

    Thanks for the video.
    For years, I have used 50mm lenses on full-frame cameras. However, I was never a big fan of the 50mm focal length. It always seemed too “telephoto” for my taste and shooting style. The slightly wider 35mm focal length was what I preferred instead.
    When I purchased my first Fuji X APS-C digital camera, the slightly wide 23mm lens was the first lens I purchased for it. I now own and use a 23mm f/1.4 and a 23mm f/2. I still do not own a 35mm. On those rare occasions when I need a 35mm focal length, I use my 16-55mm f/2.8 zoom lens.

    Good thing is that this 35 mm is tack sharp at F2 imo, where the 23 mm is not. Also build is awesome.

    All of the “Fujicrons”-23mm,35mm & 50mm f/2 lenses are quite compact. These lenses are a joy to use & offer excellent image quality. I particularly like using the 35mm for black & white photography, as the micro contrast is quite good. In short, the Fujicrons offer excellent value for their price point!😊👍

      Yes sir it is! I should do a video with the 35mm f2 for just black and white photos

    I have the f2 and f1.4, love them both. They stay on my xe 2 and xpro 2. Thinking of getting the 27mm f2.8 soon. Have a great day :)

    This lens has crazy micro-contrast. The pop is amazing(zeiss like). I had my gear stolen and when I replaced I decided to try the 33mm 1.4 instead of getting my F2 back. That was a mistake.

  • @Zainphotography
    @Zainphotography 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    35 f1.4 won't always have "all blurred out look" all the time. lol you can recompose by moving back or use f/2 to get the same look as this lens.

    Just call it a standard lens 🙂
    I agree about excessive blur. A bit is fine to emphasise the main subject but too much can have the opposite effect - people looking at the mush in the background trying to figure out what it is.

    Thanks for this video. Trying to decide between the 33 f1.4 and 35 f2. Where are you able to get the 35mm f/2 for under $200?

    I use the 23mm f/2, and own the 35mm and 50mm f/2. I need to use them more. How do you feel about the 27mm pancake lens? Thanks for getting me out of the 23mm f/2 rut! ;)

    • @AndyTran
      @AndyTran  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not sure about the 27mm. I may play around with it but it’s too close to the 35 that I will probably skip it. I want a wide zoom lens

    • @Deetroiter
      @Deetroiter ปีที่แล้ว

      The 27 I think is awesome but it’s an acquired taste. I’ve spent years shooting 43mm (actually length) on Pentax cameras. Some people don’t like the view and find it weird because it’s in between a standard and slight wide angle. Once you get used to it, it’s difficult to go back to anything else. Keep in mind you’ll read a lot about the 27 being noisy, etc. that’s because it’s by design. It’s such a small and light build frame that it’s near impossible currently to make something with zero noise. If you’re someone who does video you probably won’t like it, but for stills shooting it’s NOT that bad at all. People
      Should hear my screwmount AF lenses if they want to hear noisy lol!
      I do believe too that if you can find it for the retail $399 that it’s a steal for the price. Size, picture quality, and Weather resistance on the R WR version make it an extremely attractive value.

    Hi Andy nice video
    I got the 35mm F1.4 + my Xpro 3 I can actually really recommend It as well
    The clarity etc..
    In the beginning, I was using just the 50 mm F2 which is also a dream but now my 35 is almost glued to my camera
    So I guess I have enough in that range 😁

  • @karlivanr

    I actually prefer the 27mm f2.8. Yeah it is great and super small, but I've been unlucky twice buying that lens. I've been getting the "turn off the camera and on again" error since the focus motor jams when you switch to playback/turn the camera off/on with an object near to it. So the sole solution is to flatten the lens as a workaround, but that is such a headache right? Quality control issues they say as I've read on DP Reviews that some are experiencing it as well.
    That's why I'm opting for the 35mm f2 which you're reviewing right now and hoping to sell my 27mm f2.8 (once it got fixed) and just pair the 35mm f2 with a 7artisans 25mm f1.8 instead. My previous duo was the Meike 35mm f1.4 and the 27mm f2.8. Also, they say that the 35mm f2 is sharper than the 27mm f2.8 which is better for me! heheh
    I'm actually talking to someone selling a used 35mm f2 for $162, torn on buying it ASAP or just wait for my lenses to sell 😓
    Focal length is better for me in general as I don't have to get closer to my subjects, which works for me since I'm a very shy person

    I still hop back and forth between the 23 2 and the 27 2.8. Honestly I like the size of the 27 and how it doesn’t obstruct the OVF. But I like the 23 for how close up I can actually focus on an object. Awesome video and content!
