Thanks so much for these videos Sharyn. I've just got a secondhand 744D. I was told it's fussy with the tension. I've cleaned the tension discs and found the loopers to be grimey, although it was serviced 18 months ago. I think it's ok at 3,3,4,4 now. But it was 3, 3,5, 6 before to look acceptable so thats some improvement. Thanks for the great video.
It is possible for a tech to adjust the tension dials when they do a service, so they are set at 4,4,4,4 when the tension is at its best! The biggest tension problems with Overlockers/Sergers will be poor quality (inconsistent) thread (sometimes it feels sort of greasy), or thread or lint stuck in the tension disks, or the thread isn't bedded down into the tension disks.
@SharynsSewingSchool thanks again. I tried 4,4,4,4 just incase as I hadn't actually tied exactly that. But still best at 3,3,4,4. I'll get it looked at in the near future. But it seems to run very well otherwise
@@thatsfunny2051 the machine will probably gather single layers of lightweight fabric. Try lowering the differential feed to a number below one. Also hold the fabric taut as you sew. Cheers Sharyn
excellent information Thank you!
This has totally solved my problem, I am so grateful to you. Thank you
@@HeidiThompson-g3e I am glad I could help. Cheers Sharyn

@@lj2miller As long as it is working that is what you want!
This is really good information. I have trouble overlocking on single layers, particularly when the fabric is lightweight

@@SharynsSewingSchool Thanks for that. Should the stitch finger always be extended unless I'm doing a rolled hem?
@@thatsfunny2051 yes. The stitch finger stops the machine from curling the fabric. 🙂
