- Widad Taleb is a Lebanese journalist and a political activist. Today, she lives in Dubai with her husband and works as a Senior Reporter for CNN Business Arabic. She became interested in journalism while living in Lebanon and documenting political turmoil on Instagram. She witnessed gruesome horror on August ,4 2020, during the Beirut explosion, prompting her to start over in Saudi. Before that, her family tried to gain German citizenship. Tricked by a family friend into asylum, they lost everything and endured six months in a refugee camp with limited funds and no means to return home. This, coupled with the Beirut blast, led to her developing PTSD. Widad loves her family and advocates for social awareness, particularly for children, in politically unstable regions.

كما أنها شهدت مرارة وشناعة الأحداث في 4 أغسطس 2020 أثناء انفجار بيروت، مما دفعها للبدء من جديد في السعودية
وقبل ذلك، حاولت عائلتها الحصول على الجنسية الألمانية بعد أن تم خداعهم من قبل أحد أصدقاء العائلة وطلبوا اللجوء، وفقدوا كل شيء وتحملوا ستة أشهر في مخيم للاجئين بأموال محدودة وبدون وسيلة للعودة إلى ديارهم وقد أدى هذا، إلى جانب انفجار بيروت، إلى إصابتها باضطراب ما بعد الصدمة وداد تحب عائلتها وتناصر الوعي الاجتماعي، خاصة للأطفال في المناطق غير المستقرة سياسيا.

As I am a big fan now of the Mo Show podcast I sincerely share some facts from life story to cheer up those who struggle. We are the uncalled witnessers of the pandemic, wars and climate crisis. Our generation is the ultimate hope to create a positive change. So here are some highlights: 1) I was never bullied in high school, though often I faught for those who were. My lesson - if you can, protect those who are less fortunate. 2) I am officially #1 water and energy expert in Central Asia ( you can google me ) but I was not afraid to go against the government and advocate lake Balkhash in Kazakhstan. Lesson - do not betray yourself no matter what happens. 3) I was politically retaliated and bullied because of my work on Save Lake Balkhash International Research Project. This is big, because when post Soviet union state is trying to destroy you they do the next things a) rewrite your personal history. b) bribe those who are close to you c) block your career. d) gaslighting Lesson: call for international support. By any reasonable means.
