Just actually checked out the original KH3 intro.
After listening to this multiple times and hearing all that perfect sync, Face My Fears feels so goddamn lacklustre as an opening theme. It feels like the music was just overlaid on the video without any effort to syncing it. This song feels like it was MADE for this.
Idk I personally really like the song, I might just have shit taste ig. I do agree it could’ve been synced better tho
@@windy4566 Don't get me wrong, Face My Fears isn't a bad song, it just REALLY doesn't feel fitting for the video it's played over.
@@jtk7565 KH has always had an issue with their openings not matching their visuals.
Simple and Clean was a good song, and matched the visuals decently, but was horribly held back by the fact it's a CG animation for a JRPG in the early 2000s.
Sanctuary matched the visuals a bit better, but it still just felt... Off.
Face My Fears was Drum 'n Bass, which already barely fit, but it doesn't sync up with the visuals at all beyond some pulsing effects that feel like they were added for the sake of SOMETHING syncing with the song rather than planned for effect.
You can call it a bad take all you want, but KH Openings in general have always felt like "Intro + Song that relates to the story" without really putting any care into whether or not the song actually matches the visuals, which for an intro is pretty damn important when you want to set a tone. Is comes across as unintentional desync between audio and visual rather than intentional tonal dissonance.
Vandalize manages to accomplish all of that without even being made for the game or even the animation used. It has audio-visual sync, it vaguely but directly hints at the story, and it matches the pace and tone of the visuals without coming off as "wrong".
In conclusion: I have an opinion on the internet, and you're allowed to have yours, but if you're going to call mine shit, at least give one of your own.

0:35 "You caught me off guard" - Quite fitting for Sora who suddenly encountered Ventus when he was young
0:39 "Sound the alarm 2" - Another signal phrase for what's coming to the Destiny Islands trio
0:42 "Said you'd keep me safe, now you're tearing me down" - Fitting for Kairi who got her heart and body separated at the beginning of KH1
0:45 "Am I laid to waste, now that you're not around" - Sora POV at the start of KH1 when he can't find Riku and Kairi
0:49 CHORUS - Mostly Sora's POV across KH titles
"Come and leave your mark, Vandalize my Heart" - For Sora is quite meaningful since he has made a lot of connections to different worlds, made friends, and all that complicated stuff about Kairi's heart, Roxas, Xion, Namine, etc. which concerns mostly his "heart"
1:09 "Vandalize my heart" - Young Xehanort smirking in this part is so fitting since he's really interested in studying "hearts"
1:14 "Did you let it fall apart just so you could replace it?" - Sora became a heartless and Roxas was born
1:19 "Tag your name on the side of the burning bridge" - Xemnas naming him Roxas
1:21 "Watch it fade when the smoke rolls in" - Smells like trouble for the Seasalt trio
1:26 "Time that you killed, you promised to help me rebuild" - Push and pull of Roxas and Xion, trying to "rebuild" each other
1:32 "Feels like you planned it, took us for granted" - Roxas realized that Xion "sacrificed" herself and left him and Axel
1:39 "Said you'd keep me safe, now you're tearing me down" - Roxas to Axel during KH2 tutorial plot

First it was World of Light from smash ultimate, now boy Sonic and Vandalize matching up with KH3. Some moments in life can be very beautiful.
I like to think this song is about the people in the sonic fanbase, from our perspective and how our good will has been constantly taken advantage of as an excuse for executives to force the devs into pumping out low quality games. completely discarding the world and lore that sonic team had been building from the adventure games in favor of trend chasing, gimiky and heartless cash grabs. Now there is a team taking it back and us giving them a chance by willingly biting the bullet. For the sake of a team that not only cares, but has been fighting tirelessly to actually tell a story instead of copying their contemporaries that do episodic stuff, because sonic was always Mario’s opposite, not just an icon or mascot, he was a character with a world built on intrigue and mystery.
Let's see how this goes.
Edit: HOLY SHIT. The beat doesn't always go with the scenes, but the lyrics sure do up until Sora and Kairi reunite. So basically, all the way through. This deserves high marks.

I've seen many kingdom hearts 3 a bit of 2 and 1 with vandalize but haven't seen other kingdom hearts spinoff games kingdom heart's TH-cam page has the opening for re:coded and 0.2 birth by sleep a fragmentary passage could you try using vandalize for that. I did a test run i think it fits well
