Glad to find this chanel! Everyone is now talking about arabic perfumes to the point I'm tired of it and not interested, so happy to see someone is having fun with good old fashioned fragrances
I have so many oakmoss perfumes, as you know I love an ashtray note. Cristalle, Jean Louis Scherrer, Cabochard edp and edt, Paloma Picasso, Diva, Knowing, Jil Sander No4, Joop!, Explosive by Etienne Eigner, Femme by Rochas, Carolina Herrera etc. etc. 😂😂. It looks like almost all the classics i own have oakmoss in it. I was waiting for you to post a chypre video. I absolutely love chypre perfumes. Thank you so much for this video💖💖💖💖
You sure love your oakmoss and the ashtray accord.😁 From the ones you mentioned, I’ve tried Cristalle (lovely), JLS (too green for me), Paloma Picasso (I have it but I haven’t reached for it in months). I’m awaiting decants of Joop! and Rochas Femme from someone. I can’t wait to try them. Jil Sander No.4 is on my wish list. I’m comfortable with blind buying that one. Thanks for your kindness, H.A. Your comments always make me smile.🧡💖
I read your comment but it seems to have disappeared… TH-cam constantly messes with the comments. Well, I wouldn’t say I struggle with it, it’s just not something I’m in the mood for every single day. Alright, deal, I’ll wait. Thank you so much!🧡 I’d love to test the original first if you say there’s such a big difference between the two. I think the new one is only about 20€ though… the smallest size. Ysatis? That makes a lot of sense, they share so many notes. People seem to compare it to Poison a lot too. Who knows?
@@lukeparfums Yes if you struggle with Cabochard, you'll struggle with JLS. Wait with buying Jil Sander. When i send you Gardenia, i'll send you a sample of the old en new version of No4 to try. I'm sure you'll love Rochas Femme, not so sure you'll like Joop! 😂 when i overspray it even i think i smell like a cat litter box 😂
My whole collection is mostly chyphres❤️ My favorite is the first fragrance I ever bought… Miss Dior Originale EDT. I was 16 years old then, well into my 50’s now and still in love with it.
I am from Kenya in Africa I just love your voice and your super polite and refined. I love perfume and I want to start buying affordable vintage perfumes so I'm getting lots of info ....
I love Knowing by Estee Lauder! I wore it on a summer holiday nearly 30 years ago after buying it at the airport. It really reminds me of my youth and that wonderful time 😊. I have Cabochard Cherie which is a floral chypre and is compared to Miss Dior a lot. I don't have Miss Dior to compare it to but I think Cherie is a much more wearable scent than Cabochard the original!
I love that! I’m sure it will forever remind you of that time. I’m really curious about Cabochard Chérie. If it’s anything like Miss Dior Chérie (which used to be my signature scent), I’ll adore it.🙂🍂
Givenchy Ysatis was my favourite chypre fragrance back in the 80’s. ❤️ I also used to wear YSL Champagne and Estée Lauder Knowing. I used to hate Cacharel Anais Anais ( it was a gift from my best friend in the 70’s). During the Covid era, I fell in love with Anais Anais. 😮 Now I am contemplating on, if I should get Miss Dior Parfum (2024). 🤔 A very enjoyable video, Thank You!
Hello there! You wore some of the best classics as your signature scents. Anais Anais is polarising, isn’t it? I also fell in love with it about 2 years ago. Thanks for watching!🙂
Chypres are my absolute, all-time favorite fragrances, and Ysatis is still one of my most beloved. Almost impossible to get a hold of in my country, but I was fortunate enough to snatch a bottle a few years ago, and now I am afraid to wear it and end up without it, lol... thank you for this video!
Hi Luke!😊 I have most of these fragrances. 😂 I had no idea that Yvresse had coconut in the base!😮 I don’t notice it, and you know what a blood hound I am where coconut is concerned. I’m not going to look for it either. 😊 Once I detect it, I won’t be able to smell anything else!😂 The MD Parfum base contains Amberwood. I haven’t had good luck with that note, but, thankfully, I don’t detect it at all. 😅 I love all the fragrances we have in common. I won’t try Anais Anais or Cabochard. 😁But, I always love listening to you describe perfume. My favorite time of day. Thank you for another great video. 💛
Hi Leah! Luckily for you, I don't detect any coconut in Yvresse. It might be listed, but I can’t smell it. I also don't notice the synthetic and annoying note of amberwood in MD Parfum. If you dislike green and leathery scents, I don't think Cabochard and Anais Anais would be for you. Thank you for your support, Leah!🧡
Anais Anais is amazing though! I was scared at first too because i absolutely hated it in the 80's but Luke influenced me and i love it so much! Just dont blind buy it, try it first.
Yes, Luke! Such a lovely choice! I would raise my hand to suggest Clinique Aromatics and maybe Estee Lauder Youth Dew. What do you think? Hugs from Australia ox

I don't know if I already let you know - (if I did, forgive my ravings!) - but I got my vintage Yvresse - a big vintage bottle of "Champagne" actually - and OMG - I had been feeling like I totally overspent - until I smelled it and smelled it again. Truly - it is one of the most divine perfume experiences I've ever had - I'm totally in love - and all thanks to you, Luke!
Cacharel Anais Anais I knew the older version. I bought it for my Mom around 2012. We loved it. Chanel Coco Mad...I love from the begining. I have full bottle of Timeless Avon for testing I blind bought it. It waits. Great explanation what chypre actually is. Nice graphic. Thank you😉💚
Hi there. I hope Timeless was a successful blind buy.🙂 The word chypre seems to be both an umbrella term that refers to an entire fragrance family and as well as a very elusive concept. Thanks for watching!🙂
Love vintage chypres! All these are great. I also love Mitsouko, Chanel 19, First, Femme Rochas, Magie Noire, Aromatics Elixr, and my favorite Paloma Picasso 😊
I fell in love with Ysatis as a freshman in high school when it came out. I still have a bottle in my collection. If someone would like to try it without paying the higher price, Elizabeth Taylor’s White Diamonds is very very similar. Her perfumes are very beautiful - Emeralds, White, Night, En Rouge are my favorites from the White Diamonds line. ❤
I was born in 1971 so I think I grew up in the age of chypres, but honestly never tried them when I was wearing perfume in the 80's to 2000's. I wore things like Giorgio Red, Giorgio Beverley Hills, Poison, and Elizabeth Taylor Passion back then. I have purchased some current formulations of Chypres now, and I must say I still find them a bit challenging to my nose, but I do wear them sometimes just as a nod to the past! I have Cabotine, Cabochard, and some mini bottles of some of the old Estee Lauder chypres too.

I don't know when I will be able to use it though, I have only 1 ml but am cherishing it, looking for a major event when I can use it. I love Terre d' Hermes, Miss Dior, Kirke. Recently bought Soir de Lune and I vacillate between loving and not loving it, and I like it because of that...perfumes with some personality, and either you take it or leave it. None of the generic smelling ones....just my opinion
