- In this video, I show you a very simple and easy way to parallel park a car. It is a step-by-step guide to parallel parking. Parallel parking was named the number one cause of driver stress for 18-34 year-olds in a recent study. If you’re someone who stresses out parallel parking, have no fear. 1. Signal right. 2-3 feet apart
2. Make sure the bottom of back light is aligned with the back window
3. Reverse
4. Turn the wheel all the way to the right.
5. Check rare view, side view and blind spot.
6. Stop when the trunk division in the light is lined with the side view mirror
7. Turn all the way to the left and reverse
8. Stop when the car is straight
9. Straighten up wheel drive forward.

Beautiful...i love the fact that u r using parts of the other vehicle measured against urs to determine when to stop or change direction. Most teachers would say at 45°....its ok but this one makes more sense.

I had test today in Guelph .passed in 1 attempt .
Advice :- 1.Practice parking without back mirror,they don’t allow to use.
1.Move head everytime you make any turn .really important.
3.Dont rush .
4. Keep distance from the front vehicle , so you dont get trouble for anything.
5.dont do unnecessary emergency stop during test .
I have G test at Guelph coming up to. When u finish parallel parking can you leave your wheel straight or do you have to turn it to one side for uphill or downhill. Did they make you do reverse parking to?Also when u did the emergency stop was it downhill or uphill?

Hi Toronto Drivers - great video...right up to the point of reversing in preparation to leave. Always, always look through the back window before reversing. The driver lost demerits for not looking before reversing. I know for a fact that you do that more than once on a road test and you will NOT be successful. Other than that one error, great video. A demerit is a penalty point, when you get a demerit it means you lose a point. It's a gain, a good thing, if you lose penalty points.

I really love this technique it’s just tough like how to make sure your right mirror is lined up with the rear left light of the car in front before turning steering left. I often mess that up somehow by going either too far in or too little.

I failed my road test today, but for something I never did. I’ve been watching your videos over and over, and practising everything multiple times. The reason I failed was because I didn’t yield to a pedestrian, and didn’t check my blind spot, but there weren’t any pedestrians, and I always double check my blind spots so I know I didn’t fail to check it. When we came back to the centre, I needed to adjust my forward parking but he immediately yelled at me to stop and park the car, which I knew there I failed but didn’t have a clue why. Any suggestions or recommendations you have so this doesn’t happen again? Or was it just my examiner?

My trainer said that is better as a reference when backing up, to use the front door handle touching the curve because if you use the mirror aligned to the plates or the corner of the other car, that car might be not properly well parked and you can fail.

Want to thank you so much. You clear and concise instructions helped my daughter to grasp the concept and feel comfortable with her drivers test!
Summary of manuevering (does not include looking, signaling, parking brake stuff):
1. Get into Starting position: 2 feet from reference car, your rear axle in line with rear bumper of ref car. (Right rear light of ref car aligned with corner of your big window in the back.)
2 Turn wheel all the way to the right and back up until your right mirror aligns with the left tail light of the ref car. (Or right front light of car behind is in middle of your back windshield.)
3. Missing step, so you aren't too far from curb: Straighten wheel. Back up until close to curb. (See driver's side of car behind you in your left mirror.)
4. Turn wheel all the way to the left. Back up. You are parked. You may want to move straight forward or back to be in center of parking space.
I find it strange that he turn the wheel one full turn to the right instead of all the way. Also I find that when turning it, i look at the left side mirror until i can see the entire right side of the car behind me instead of the rear view mirror.
Finally I keep backing straight until my front door handle appears as if it's touching the curb, then I put it in drive and straighten and turn the wheel to the right to straighten it out.

Today i was repeting your videos and i got my drivers test today thank you for making me pass my test and thank for this nice video
This is how I failed on my first driving test... I got really nervous and I have really bad anxiety when it comes to driving. With my driving test, I had to parallel park into a yellow barricade. I got myself in, but I had trouble getting out so I tapped the barricade and, unfortunately, that's an automatic fail 😔... Learning how to drive is hard. I'm 27 and learning so that makes me feel bad, but I've seen people who are older than me learning how so it doesn't make me feel too bad.
I understand that your first driving test didn't go as planned, but don't be too hard on yourself. Learning to drive can be challenging for anyone, and anxiety is a common hurdle to overcome. It's great that you're determined to improve. Keep your goals in mind, stay positive, and keep working towards becoming a safe and confident driver. You can do it! 🚗👍😊

never LOCK the steering wheel - it damages the steering mechanisn,strains the fluid boot ....
never pull the handbrake all the way up tight - it may break and gets loose very fast,and it is very difficult to release = 1 to 3 clicks is good enough
In modern cars, the steering components are made to withstand locking up. A good way to never over tighten the handbrake is to pull it up with one finger.

Almost all the time when an individual is parallel parking it is when they have to park in between 2 vehicles if that were not the case I wouldn't have to reverse to park I would just pull right up behind them

Just pass my road test 😭 this the best parking method most ppl do it different and it can be a bit confusing some instructor teach u different ways and this to me is the easiest. Good luck everyone I failed about a month ago because I was nervous and book a single 30mim lesson and book the road test 25days after that one lesson watch a few videos and I did great even though I was still a bit nervous 😭😭

The only problem that I see here is that you need quite a big slot to reverse in to using this method. If you have a slightly smaller/tighter slot, then change the method slightly. Just before starting the reversing action turn the steering wheel fully to the right (and not just one turn as described in this video) and reverse slowly, watching the backend of the car in front and stop when you see the the left rear tail light of the front car at your side view mirror level and then turn your steering wheel fully to the left and continue reversing as described in this video, till you slide in to the spot. Watch the back end of the car in front so that you dont hit it while sliding in to the spot. Stop and straighten the steering wheel.

my teacher taught me a different way (one turn right of the steering wheel + one left turn + full left turn) now i’m confused which one to do for the test
