A friend and I were at the Bucks/Sonics game in 1989 in Milwaukee. It was 5 overtimes and we couldn’t have been happier when it was over. We walked out of the Bradley Center and into a blizzard but it wasn’t enough to stop us from getting some Taco Bell on the way home. I still have my ticket stub and the box score from the paper the next day.

He passed away around the 4th inning, I think. My friends came to pick me up and took me out to my dad's favorite diner so that I wouldn't have to be at home. We walked around and told stories about him for an hour or so, and then when I got back home, my family sat down and made some funeral plans...and then still ended up watching the last inning and a half of the game.
these are all great long games, although there is one I wish would have made the cut. Longest game in NCAA baseball history back in 2009, Texas vs Boston College regional playoff game. 25 innings, 7 hrs and 3 minutes long. One pitcher for Texas, Austin Woods, pitched 13.0 scoreless innings, going for 12.1 innings without giving up a hit on 169 pitches. crazy crazy game

Reminds me of the game of the Red Sox vs the Angels. It only went like 15 innings. But the Red Sox pitcher pitched the entire game losing it after 14.1 innings pitched and Nolan Ryan had 10 walks 19 strikeouts and reportedly had pitched 235 pitches. Can’t confirm since pitches were not officially recorded back then but still absolutely insane.

That Cincinnati game was the only tie in Panthers franchise history, and the Rams win would have ended in a tie if it wasn't a playoff game. I remember both games well. The amplification of the ball hitting the rim at 6:06 and bomb explosion at 25:18 really startled me! The other rim misses were silent (to TV viewers at least.). You focused on the four major USA team sports, but you should have included the longest tennis match in history. It was a first-round match between Nicolas Mahut (FRA) and John Isner (USA) at Wimbledon. Since they're both big servers and grass is a fast surface, and because there was no final set tiebreaker at the time, the match lasted THREE DAYS! The fifth and final set was 70-68! That set alone lasted longer than the longest entire match in Wimbledon history! Due to this, rules were changed at the majors. Now at Wimbledon, a final set tiebreaker occurs at 12-12. Now at the Australian Open, a final set tiebreak occurs at 9-9. At the US Open, a tiebreak occurs at 6-6 in any set(but that rule has been in place for decades). As far as the majors go, now only the French Open has no final set tiebreaker, meaning the players have to play until someone get a two game advantage.
Illinois and Penn State going to 9OT and having a final score of 20-18 that didn't even come close to touching the over is still one of the funniest things to happen this season

The longest game I've ever been in, Hockey, District 3rd Place Championship. VS a team I had never beaten before and I hate them since their the dirtiest team in the league Let's start in the 3rd, we're down 3-2 with 60 seconds left, I start heading to the bench for an Empty Net (yes I'm a goalie) as soon as I get to the bench we score. 3-3 45sec left In the 3rd OT I didn't have to do much since my defensemen were great in this OT, I olny had to save 1 and I saved it 2OT This was the opposite, I saved 8 shots in 5min (this was when I was in 7th grade) and we got 2 SOG 3OT-After the Zam. The first three minutes were... tough to say the least, 7 Saves. And we get a chance, after a Tic-Tac-Toe out front they cover it, I think it's the goalie who covered it but it wasn't, Penalty Shot in 3OT, and since he was on the ice he takes the shot. He shoots, he scores Final: 4-3 in 3OT

Dodgers third baseman Jeff Hamilton took the loss - Mets vs. Braves. Fulton County Stadium in Atlanta. Game started late because of a rain delay, took 19 innings to play with the Mets winning 16-11. Game ended at 3:55 am local time. Fireworks show still went off as planned.

I feel bad for the umpire in the first clip. His entire carreer no longer matters; he will forever be "the guy that ruined the longest baseball game ever".
It goes from deliberate robbery by corrupt umpires trying to fix a game, to an NHL goal with ZERO controversy.

the first one is so funny because the ump is obviously thinking "we make enough bad calls whats one more under my belt" so they could go home

You know there has been some great goaltending if a playoff hockey game gets to the 5th OT.
Dang, I’m not really a sports guy but I would watch a game. I always think it’s crazy for games to go into over overtime. Also if I was in a game that was probably like in 5th overtime and I lost I probably would be really mad.

This is the first video I've seen which had the angle from center field, and it clearly shows the swipe tag whiffed him completely. HE WAS SAFE!
That Alabama game pissed me off so much
why no context for the nhl and nfl games? in nba and mlb we get to see all the missed attempts and such that lead up to the ending, but with football and hockey its just the last play! cool video, wouldve loved to see more football and hockey though

The longest game I've ever been in, Hockey, District 3rd Place Championship. VS a team I had never beaten before and I hate them since their the dirtiest team in the league

I didn't have to do much since my defensemen were great in this OT, I olny had to save 1 and I saved it

This was the opposite, I saved 8 shots in 5min (this was when I was in 7th grade) and we got 2 SOG
3OT-After the Zam.
The first three minutes were... tough to say the least, 7 Saves. And we get a chance, after a Tic-Tac-Toe out front they cover it, I think it's the goalie who covered it but it wasn't,
Penalty Shot in 3OT, and since he was on the ice he takes the shot. He shoots, he scores

I was waiting for the lsu game because I remember watching it at home and all the mixed emotions

- Dodgers vs. Astros at the AstroDome in Houston. Game took 22 innings to play with the Astros winning at 2:50 am local time. Dodgers third baseman Jeff Hamilton took the loss
- Mets vs. Braves. Fulton County Stadium in Atlanta. Game started late because of a rain delay, took 19 innings to play with the Mets winning 16-11. Game ended at 3:55 am local time. Fireworks show still went off as planned.
