Right off the bat, iss pro series (pre pes series) had those player names, and club names switcheroo back in the late '90's, so its not really such a weird thing. My first fifa game was fifa 98 in 1999, and fifa 2000 in 2000, the same year I discovered iss pro evolution (1). Once I started playing iss, fifa was just gone from my radar for next almost 10 years. I always loved returning and playing that old iss pro 1 game. It just brought back such joy, and all great memories. I don't play any games anymore.
In the late 90s/early 00s, PES was massively better than FIFA in terms of gameplay. FIFA still had all the licensing, but PES was what everyone who wanted a better game was playing. FIFA then used to be all about spamming massively overpowered long shots. PES had it so anything with too much power would just fly over. FIFA back then, you never scored from inside the box. PES was about properly working it into the box, and because of the sensitivity of the shoot button, you had to have composure when the moment came and just give it a little tap. If you scored from outside the box in PES, it felt like a genuine stunner, rather than just the standard goal it was on FIFA.
Every time I watch a Jamie Fussell video, it puts a smile on my face and makes my day and I also feel proud to see an old team mate of mine who I had so much fun playing with for a great few years doing so well and having all the success he deserves. There's only one game now for me. Football Life 2024, it runs on PES21 and is free. Gameplay is solid, keepers have brains (mostly), you can mod it snd add all the stadiums, can do a proper manager mode where you don't need to play rhem all and can manage the game and even have legends you can put into teams. It's given me back the joy of football games but is limited to PC only. I recommend it to anyone willing to put in the time to add all the stadium's and are willing to overlook the odd bug.

In 2004, EA made FIFA manager 2004, a standalone game on managing teams like football manager series. The best part was you could integrate this game with FIFA 2004 and actually play a very indepth career mode with actual gameplay.

Football games nowadays only has few that fun. On 90s when FIFA gameplay so suck because havent copy WE/PES mechanics yet, we got other awesome alternative football games like Libero Grande (grandfather of BAL or Be A Pro), Super Sidekick, Power Shoot Soccer, Captain Tsubasa on MD (first turn base football game).
I used to always play the game that had no licensing rights and I would always rage if I lost the World Cup final to a goal from Mahamad Saleh.😂man I was addicted to that game I would never put my tablet down.once I was in the car for 1 hour and I played the game for the whole time and I felt so car sick and then when I got home I played another straight hour of it my 7 year old brain was rotting like crazy bro maybe that’s the reason why I’m in bottom set maths 😂

You should test the football games that were on ps1 and ps2 so many different ones with all the licensing. Michael Owen's World League Soccer 99 was class!

It all got ridiculous after I turned into FUT for my main game, and that’s what kinda forced me to quit it. The fact that the DDA is changing every possible outcome of any aspect of your game is bad enough, at least for me, to quit what I had loved for a long time.

In my school the grade older than ne last year (Gr.6) I was in Gr. 5, they had a really nice teacher and let one of then bring in their XBOX. He invited me to his class to play and we had a great time from the Gr. 4s to 6s. Nice memories.
I think what isn't fun is the level of expectation we have over something that's so difficult to bring to existence. Like, if I wanted to create a game like fifa, I wouldn't even know where to begin. See it for exactly what it is and it's pretty amazing to think that this is what a console game of football looks like nowadays. Take it from me, I've been playing fifa since 1997, and I still enjoy picking it up every year, I still have fun because I never forget it's JUST A GAME. enjoy it!
