This concert was for Su-Metal's 16th birthday (held the day after on 21st December 2013). As she climbs the steps to the gong at the end you can see that bass player, BOH, has 'Happy Birthday' written on his head. The big statue in the background comes into its own for the final song in the concert, Babymetal Death. That is usually an opener as they are basically introducing themselves but for this show, and as it was her 16th birthday, they closed with it and it's a pretty special performance. You should check it out.

Welcome back.🦊You mentioned their energy - this was the 13th of 15 songs in that concert and they hadn't stopped since the first minute ... over 10 years since this concert (Legend 1997 was Su's 16th birthday) and they still never give less than 100%.
So you saw Su-metal's death glare - those are lethal.😁 Jake already explained the Kami Band and how they are dressed in traditional white burial robes and corpse face paint to represent the gods (kami) of guitar, bass and drums ... and that BOH the bassist had "Happy Birthday" painted on his head for this show - he would have something different for every concert.
'Headbanger' is about a girl going to her first concert on her 15th birthday, but 15 is significant in Japan as compulsory education also ends, so the girl is realising life will never be the same. She is having to grow up, she will no longer be considered just a child and her first 15 years passed so quickly, so she etching this special night into her heart so she will never forget.
There are other versions of 'Headbanger' from special occasions as well. The Legend D concert in December 2012 for Su-metal's own 15th birthday and this Legend 1997 concert in December 2013 celebrating Su-metal's 16th birthday both started with a dance remix version ('Headbanger - Night of 15 Re-Mix').
At concerts on or near their own 15th birthdays in 2014 Yui (in Paris) and Moa (in Cologne) took over lead vocals for 'Headbanger' half way through when Su handed them the mic and stand - she took their place in the choreo. Only fancam videos exist for those performances.
The same thing happened again in 2019 at the Legend M concert celebrating Moametal's 20th birthday (20 is the official age of majority in Japan). Moa once again took over lead vocals after Su handed her the mic and stand - and the lyrics were changed to "...this special night of my 20th...".
Most recently in March this year at the Legend MM concerts celebrating Momometal's 21st birthday we got her version on the day before her 21st (she was not an official member the year before so she did it to mark the last day when she was still 20).

Great to see you had a chance to check out their live! They are an amazing performance band. There are seats up on the balcony area, but most would prefer to stand so they can mosh, wall of death, and do circle pits. This is a metal show after all, lol.
Road of Resistance should be your next reaction, amazing anthem. Official Live to see them in their younger days, or Pia Arena MM to see how they are today.

Welcome back to Babymetal and nice reaction.
Nothing special to add to Jake's comment, did you realize the crowd control that Su has? All three have it, but Su's is from another world. And I'm sure it's not just because of their presence on stage, but because of the true love that fans have for this band.
If you ever go to a Babymetal concert in Japan, you better know the choreography, or they'll look at you like a weirdo xD

13:45 I think what they have now, it's bit like sports wear, it can air very well when needed.

It's hard to make it out in the video what's on his head but if you look closely they'll see the "Y" at the end of "Happy Birthday" which is written on the back of his head. The concert was for Su's birthday. You can see it the best when Su is climbing the stairs at the end.

5:48 only spirit not female. But it's true, any video you will find of Babymetal, the musicians are guys. Only 1 tour in Japan in small venues Babymetal had a lady band member, she played violin, as a little break from the regular songs, probably for the girls to recover from all their dancing. But no video of that exists

We use to recommend this video because of some Babymetal trademarks ,the death stare , the two little nuclear powerhouse cheering the whole crowd and the gong.
Relax man the foxhole is a nice place .
    Peace

    Welcome back to the Foxhole.
Thanks for the shout-out and coming back with this suggestion. I also kindly ask you to give your frame a little more of spotlight coz i can barely see your reaction,.plus the lack of light doesn't help.
This song was part of the World Tour 2023/2024, everyone love this song and were having a blast with the girls headbanging real hard in the middle section instead of the usual bowing down on their knees or having fun with the cryo smoke gun. They did it at San Francisco as part of Babyklok Tour along with Dethklok and also yesterday at AFAS in Amsterdam.
Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! is one of BM fans favorite and got special meaning too. Song is about a 15 years old girl celebrating her birthday going to her first live concert, probably metal, while having melancholy for leaving her childhood behind.
Isn't about any of our girls but they embraced this song like it was made for them, you'll find many special versions of this, even when they celebrate their 20th Birthday.
15 is an important coming of age for Japanese girls, 20 is another important date.
You'll find many more special versions celebrating their birthday, such recently last March when the new official member MomoMetal did it at Legend MM, Yokohama Arena celebrating her "20 Night", we called it "MomoBanger", and the day after her "21 Night" with another different song.
This was at Legend 1997 (that's the title of this live concert referring to SuMetal birthyear) in 2013 celebrating SuMetal 16th Birthday, and the whole concert was special, if you want to know the rest of the songs finishing this, those are:
    - "Akatsuki" Unfinished Version, a beautiful SuMetal solo version with only a piano behind, the original song is a power/speed metal balad
    - "Babymetal Death", be ready for this insane ending,
Legend 1997 was an special live concert, and along with Legend 1999 celebrating Yui and MoaMetal birthday are tied together to represent the commitment of these girls with this group, a new rebirth.
The live concert and also this song got plenty of tributes to the greatest metal bands, like Metallica and X-Japan, specially Yoshiki, the gong at the end is one of those, you'll find more and plenty of this to add to their lore. The statue behind is SuMetal resemblance and is a tribute to Metallica's Lady Justice.
The official MV is also creepy for some fans, I guess the organ gave that effect, you'll also see the neckbrace there for the first time which is a tribute to Yoshiki from X-Japan.
Another thing that you don't see so much here in their live performance is, when YuiMetal and MoaMetal are having fun with cryo or smoke gun, the choreography on this part is with them down on their knees and doing the "dogeza hedoban" which is like bowing down back and forth summoning the metal spirit represented by the neckbrace while SuMetal is standing with the mic rise up and her relentless death stare, that's another moment we called -NotACult-
The Kami Band here are insane set of elite musicians who were send to help with the metal sound, "kami" means roughly "god", they're wearing burial white robes and corpse face paint to represent those spiritual entities.
They rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (especially the guitarrists).
    They are:
    - Míkio Fujioka, god of guitar, a beloved member, sadly he passed away in 2018. (R.I.P.), he's the one doing that sick solo.
    - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums tracks.
    - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. You can see at the end (when SuMetal is crawling upstairs) his head got written "Happy Birthday".
    - Hideki Aoyama,, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japan music scene.
During recent World Tour 2023/2024 they got another complete different set of musicians, we called them Western Kami Band, they've been playing with them since 2019, so the Kami Band musicians aren't official members and the girls are the only front women of this group.
    Next suggestion:
    - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official MV (2015), disregard any suggestions over 2023 version, not saying are bad just this one is much better and epic, plus the East Kami Band and it'll help you to understand the evolution of this group, you can come back later with any other version.
    See you next time.🦊🤘🔥

It's 100% ok if you don't know much or anything about BABYMETAL since most reactors like to start their reactions blind. So if anyone made you feel bad or said anything harsh because you didn't research BABYMETAL first, I apologize, because that's NOT how the BABYMETAL community acts. The BABYMETAL fans, called "The One", enjoy educating people who are new to the group, so expect walls of texts with lots of great history, info, and song/video suggestions! Also, some comments will come from people who don't speak English as their main language, so some comments may come off rude when they are not meant to be, especially if they used google translate.🤘🦊🤘

Japan can do most things. What the rest world countries can not do! I still laughing about this situation. There own music lyrics say very nasty words. The other heavy metal music artist are bound to their own countries enforcement laws. Japan has no laws to the music lyrics of performance skills. Also dress codes. That's my important words for today. Have a very impressive beautiful day.

    👍 👍
    Not a female spirit.
There are 5 major Gods (Kami's) in the Shinto religion so the Kami Band means God Band.
