Live: London's New Year's Day Parade as capital celebrates start of 2024

- Watch live from London’s New Year’s Day Parade as the capital celebrates the start of 2024 today (Monday 1 January).
The annual event, which has been running since 1987 features live music, dancers, and a whole programme of outdoor and indoor performances.
This year’s parade will start at 12pm in Piccadilly and will finish in Westminster at around 3.30pm.
Among the participants in this year's parade are singer Chesney Hawkes who will be performing live on stage; Carnaval Del Pueblo, celebrating Latin American music, dance and culture; and London's Chinese Communities, with dancing dragons and lions, and Chinese drummers.
Five giant inflatable balloons, each up to 20 ft high, will also be bobbing along the route.
Seated tickets in the grandstand have sold out for this year’s parade but anyone is welcome to stand at any point of the parade route and watch for free.

Dunno this looks like it’s become some crap American parade these days.
Instead of projecting more politics on this event, as the powers that be seem determined to push on everything, let's just focus on all the individuals and groups who have worked hard and spent to come and perform and put on a show, that we can all enjoy. Look at the kids performing and give them a cheer, just as we would like people to do if UK school and uni kids went over to another country and city, full of good will and excitement.
@@shelleyphilcox4743agree 💯There are always a tiny handful of killjoys in the comments. The high school bands and 900 plus cheerleaders work hard and fundraise all year for the trip. They are always the highlight of the march for me. Thank you to all our friends across the pond for putting on such a great show!

Its not meant to be about the history of London though, its an international event with 27 USA high school bands and over 900 cheerleaders from the USA alone! Its a great honour for them to represent their school and state at this event and they fundraise all year for their trip.

A literal MAGAT who keeps politicizing large events like this. Disappointed.
Get some bands then so you don’t have to invite half of the U.S. schools, Bolivia and Costa Rica to perform for your parade.
