Not always, some machined plastic (or plastic for that matter) can have noise coming from how the bearing fits into the bearing seat, and how the bearing seat is machined or molded. Regardless of bearing used. I've noticed this on POM yoyos and polycarbonate.
They are very different, so it is difficult to compare them. The shutter has a lot more center weight so it tends to feel a little more controlled during tricks, but the rim weight of the iCEBURG gives it more power and stability. This yoyo is in our current buyer's guide as our top pick. So, no, I would not recommend a different yoyo in its place... unless you are looking for a more beginner model.

Anywhere the shape forces the aluminum to be thicker than necessary (which is common in yoyos with a finger spin design) the polycarbonate could use less weight to achieve the same effect.

I have one question regarding this yoyo. Do you think vibe would be more common to get if someone dings it? I imagine full metal yoyos have a lot of strength due to being one peice. I wonder if you threw this thing at the floor whether those rings would warp? Unless the kind of steel they used goes back into place very easily?

We have no plans to do a black friday sale. If you lube the yoyo too much it will slow down the bearing and make it play responsive (assuming we are talking about thin yoyo lube).

It's good. Iceberg is good. I have played it. I am not going to say that it is better than the Steel. But they are very similar in feel and play

Just got this. Does the bearing need to be lubed out of the box? Sounds as if it comes dry.
Just about all bearings for unresponsive yoyos come dry, this yoyo included. It is a good idea to lube it sooner than later.

We have not yet had a chance to try that yoyo. We will look into it. I have heard it is not as powerful as the iCEBURG, but not much beyond that.

So far in our durability testing we have not found it to be less durable than other yoyos.

You should use thin lube. It will protect against rust on the inside of the bearing, but not on the outside.

James Bond remove the string whenever you are not using the yoyo.

I would not recommend it because then you will get lube all over the string which will keep it from playing well.
