    I wish I had found this video sooner. I lost a fish and now see the mistakes I've made. This is the best most explanative vid I've seen, thank you!

    I just bought a gravel vacum, it's awesome. No more carrying the tank to the bathroom, less mess. Thanks for the tutorial.

    Thank you for this video! Do you disinfect or rinse the pitcher and siphon after you’re done cleaning the tank? Or let it air dry? If so, how? Thanks!

      I just let everything air dry!

    thank you for this! how often do you clean your tank? and do you know how often an unfiltered tank should be cleaned?

    • @ChewysBro
      @ChewysBro  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Usually every 1-2 weeks. For an unfiltered tank, usually every 2-3 days

    This is a very helpful video? How often should I clean my 3.5 gallon betta tank?

    If you use the tank water to clean the filter do you have to put the water back in after you're done using it?

    I have had my fish about 5 weeks, I am overdue for a cleaning. How often should I do this? And do you temp the water by touch/feeling or thermometer? Thanks!

    My cousin has a Betta fish in a 1 gallon tank with no filter. The Betta fish is vertical with the head facing up. She feeds her fish way too much a day. What do you recommend? I'm planning on getting the fish a new tank, and helping her with a new fish for a video. Do you think that fish is able to be revived? The fish has been like that for a year. Or should I put it to sleep?

    • @ChewysBro
      @ChewysBro  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No reason to kill a perfectly fine fish. Just get it a bigger tank that’s heated and filtered

      Get a bigger tank the smallest u can get is 2.5 gallon tank or above for the heater it has to be between 72For 75F to 80F or just a little above not to much get a filter feed it twice a day if u have a smaller tank clean it twice a week feed it maybe some dry frozen shrimp I think make sure cut it small enough for it to eat or get bettamins small pellets if ur going to clean its tank completely DONT EVER USE SOAP just try Rinse it off as much as you can don’t use something hard or rough to clean it with

    Would you thinknit would be a good idea to use an aqueon quietflow 3 filter in a small 1 gallon bowl. I'm not the owner just pet sitting but she won't let me change the bowl and the water is often dirty because she does not clean very much...any help please fish looks so sad.

    • @gabyrivera2877
      @gabyrivera2877 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some people have the hand pump where you just squeeze it a few times and the water starts flowing...but there’s also ones that don’t. For me I have to but the tube and fill it up with water then put it up in the air and empty it out half way then quickly put it back into the water and the water almost immediately starts getting sucked out ( sorry if I was no help.)

    Okay so it’s been about a month since I’ve had my Betty and she seems to be doing great! However, the last couple days I’ve noticed her fins being ripped up. :( I cleaned her tank and checked all the decor for anything sharp and didn’t find anything sharp enough to be shredding her fins up. Have you experienced this? :( Also how many times a week do you recommend cleaning the tank ? It’s a 5 gallon tank and I’ve only been cleaning it once a week. Could that be why? Thanks for any advice!

    • @0pul3nce49
      @0pul3nce49 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some bettas actually bite their fins, I have personally never had it happen, but I’m sure there is a way to stop it :)

    • @0pul3nce49
      @0pul3nce49 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here is a link to a video that I just so happened to come across when I was doing research before getting my betta. I don’t know if it is definitely tail biting, but it is a possibility :) th-cam.com/video/KLmpiaK7lOg/w-d-xo.html

    • @kellybethmcgrath243
      @kellybethmcgrath243 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you I will watch it! It’s a rip right down the middle and I don’t think she can even get to that spot herself but who knows. I just hope they heal! I googled it and it said it could be either the water or over feeding so I cut back on feeding her to see if that helps!

      You can feel both the old and new water with your elbow and make sure it's the same temp if you don't have a thermometer with you and you desperately need to clean ur water. Just a tip :)

    My tank keeps getting green any idea why ?

    • @kermit9409
      @kermit9409 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably from the amount of light which enters the tank, causing algae build up. You can try and scrub plants, rocks and other decor with a toothbrush and then suck up some of the algae with the gravel siphon. Try your best to remove it that way or you could buy some products from the shops. This is only what I think the problem could be since I have experienced the same issue, I am no fish expert so it could be something else.
