Sounds like a possibility, but that's a good thing. Blossom end rot is completely fixable.... It's usually just down to not enough water, usually not frequently enough. If youan sort the watering out and new fruit should be fine. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I've had it on the Roma's this year when it turned sunny and I didn't keep on top of things over the first couple of weeks.
@@eliandkate Thanks for your advice Eli. Only three bad tomatoes this morning. Doubled dozed the Tomarite also. You may have saved them, for I was ready to give them the axe.
eek! Don't change your fertiliser dose, you could actually burn the roots. Instead with blossom end rot, it's all about watering. Long long boring story, but the plant needs to have the right amount of water in the soil otherwise the roots can't access the nutrients that are there (in this instance it's calcium) - hence increasing your fertiliser won't help. Instead be really strict about your watering... if you get on top of watering, you should conquer it and all subsequent fruits should be fine :D
I’ve been growing my side shoots/suckers from the early tomato plants and they keep the plants growing at different times and that way it’s free. I have been growing suncherry smile and sun gold and I prefer the red suncherry but both very nice, also have been growing cherrola and they are underrated which produce masses of tomato’s on very thick healthy stems. As always great video. My tomatoes are growing well and I have loads but here in the Borders they’re only just starting to ripen with this burst of sunshine so fingers crossed they’ll do ok in August 🤞🏻 My quadgrows are needing refilling weekly, couldn’t go away for two weeks. Looking forward to the shading video as I’m struggling with keeping temp down at the moment 😕
Great video Eli! I had the same issue with my beans too. As it's my first time growing pretty much anything lol, I simply wasn't prepared for how tall they grow. I have a load of questions, sorry. How do you keep your Roma tomato under control so it doesn't take over the greenhouse? Mine is really quite full. What temperature is your greenhouse getting to at the moment? Mine is getting very hot (30ºC+) and I need to put shades up I think but I am growing chillies. How have you fixed your lights to the inside of the greenhouse? Do you have anything to stop water soaking things on the bottom shelves of your staging? And most importantly, if we're not using a quadgrow system, can you suggest the best ways to keep a greenhouse watered whilst on holiday (1 week)? I'm thinking of doing a bucket with wicks coming up and out to the chillies and using a dripper on a timer for the tomatoes and courgettes.
