    I have a pair of silkie chicks and I want to hatch some of their eggs so I can have more silkies. Silkies are the best! We live in the city and they are pretty quiet and fun to watch. My rooster loves it when I pet him and he's so soft. I can't wait to hatch their babies soon so I can raise more babies! I bought them when they were a day old and I raised them inside of my bedroom, it was the best experience of my life.

    I have another similar product. I always put only half its capacity and that leaves plenty of room for hatchlings to roam while keeping lid down (lock down last 3 days). When incubating last 3 days at 75% humidity, you don't want to open the lid while an egg is hatching as you can dry it out in a minute and shrink wrap the little chick to it's death. Wait till all your chicks are fluffy, and no other eggs are cracked and hatching before opening the cover to remove any chicks.

    • @ParagonRidgeRanch

      Yes, although a dry hatch has no added humidity, just that of the hatching eggs moisture when opened

      @@ParagonRidgeRanch I'm in a very dry and hot desert. I'm not sure how well a dry hatch would work for me, and I've never tried it. But I actually had a block of ice on top my incubator and wrapped it all up in a blanket for the last 10 days here so the incubator would be able to regulate the temperature. When the days were 105 to 110, and the space temperature even higher, (I don't have an air conditioned space for the setup)....that's what I did to make our regular process work. Got a new handful of chicks over the past few days. Some hatched early...maybe because of our climate here in general. When we're not finished hatching by June and weather gets too hot too fast....it becomes a tricky process for us. 😊

I have never heard of dry hatching until your video, it would be much easier to dry hatch but what are the cons of dry hatching and the pros of not? Also, does it matter what kind of eggs when it comes to the try of hatching? I am incubating call duck eggs.
    Thank you!

    • @ParagonRidgeRanch
      @ParagonRidgeRanch  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I dont suggest you dry hatch if you have never hatched before, especially with duck eggs. You will need to keep the humidity at around 55% for the first 25 days , then when you take them out of rotation, increase to 65%. Once they start pipping, the humidity will increase naturally due to their hatching. Hope you have a great hatch :)

    I just received mine. I have a question. Do you turn the eggs automatically? My instructions said to do it 2-3 times a day. It also says that the incubator turns on its own every 2 hours. Please help I’m a bit confused on this part. It also states not to open lid frequently during incubation period.

      @ParagonRidgeRanch  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It has an automatic turner, you don’t have to do anything;) put the eggs in and put the lid on;) you technically don’t have to get back in it until day 18 to take the turner gear out.

      Great question. If that is the airs natural humidity that is really high. May I suggest the placement of the incubator? Is it close to a sink, water heater, humidifyer, air vent , window? Wondering how the humidity is so high where you are.

    • @ParagonRidgeRanch
      @ParagonRidgeRanch  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yes, it rotates by itself. it is round with a gear in the middle. when you set it up the gear attaches to the top of the dome when you close it. Just set it and forget it. At day 18 you remove the rotation piece and let them hatch.
