  • This is the second video of the series "Bruce Lee's Workouts", showing Bruce Lee's Isometric trainings (the first ones, not the ones with the Tensolator). He used this program around 1964, 24 years old.

    From my research Bruce Lee was a firm believer in Isometrics throughout his career. Nobody can refute the benefits, do a horse stance for 20 minutes a day your legs muscles become harder than the bone that supports them.

      +Richard McAlpine thts ture horse stance its dam tough my mentor use to put on horse stance for 15 min dam is like klng me

      Devendra Sulakhe Isometrics take a while to get results, but the gains are solid and don't dissolve as quickly as traditional workouts. I think the muscles trained in this way are the same that produce "old man strength". You know old guys that don't look like much but can rip your arms off. I remember first time training horse stance - 1 minute was killer, trying to do 5 seemed impossible lol

      @@bigbadoscer yup I know exactly what you mean. It seems like there's that adolescent strength, grown man strength, & then old man strength where you just keep getting stronger. I wonder how long it'll take for me to bend steel.

    To get to Bruce Lee's level you need a combo of techniques. You need isometrics, weight training, stretching, PHA, nutrition, and many others. I recommend getting "The Art of Expressing the Body" as it was taken directly from Bruce Lee's notes.

  • @losthybrid72
    @losthybrid72 13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just get Bruce's Book "How to Express the human body" All this is explained in detail. Most of these are right out of that book. Rip Bruce Lee.

  • @HojiFGC

    @stevenashfan2313 Hm but if I do that can I still continue to do my normal workout the same night with that? Or would that be to much?
    Normally when I do isometrics I do about 2 sets for 3 different isometrics. Then I do pushups at just above waist level right after (Part of my normal workout).
    And then I do the planks exercises about twice.

    there isnt really a machine specifically for this kind of exercise but u can use almost anything... lets say a benchpress, just load the bar way to much for u to move it and then try to perform the benchpress even tho u wont move the bar at all.. u are giving all ur power... so basicly... be a little creative and u can turn almost anything into an isometric exercise

  • @EatMahSkittles
    @EatMahSkittles 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @210spyros okay dont you get it?? the point of this thing is to build muscle and strenght without any machines... you kind of have to make em yourself, thats what i did. anyway pushing walls, lifting very very heavy objects and sht like that works the same way.

    Isometrics _can_ be the _best_ way to get strong, but for _most_ people it _isn't_. Why? Because without objective measurement of resistance, you must give an honest assessment of how hard you're working , have a willingness to work your hardest without measurement, & be aware of what hard work really feels like. Most people can't, or won't sustain that level of effort. For those who _can_, good news: You don't need _any_ equipment _at all_. The best form of resistance is your opposing muscle group. EX: Bend your elbow 90%. Make a fist as tight as you can, and tense the entire arm as much as possible. (Recent research indicates that 90 seconds is more effective than the 7 to 10 second sets of the past.) You can also do this as dynamic tension by slowly pushing, pulling & twisting while staying tense. Unfortunately this takes the idea of unmeasured, honest, full effort even further; only the gifted few can sustain it. Novice isometric trainees should do their alternate workouts with weights to get maintain a feel for what heavy work is.

    • @lazur1
      @lazur1 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      This concept can be add to bodyweight or weight training. EX: Doing squats, feel them as a fight between the quads vs the hamstrings. Another reason why many will never do this progressively is the misguided notion of performance improvement: The purpose of exercise in many trainee's minds is to get "good at" the exercise. In a very real sense, you want to get very BAD at an exercise, ie, to make it a difficult as possible.

    Get a "1 Rep Gym": Bar raises/lowers in 1" increments on a tower, bench, & meter to measure effort. NOTE: The short-duration, (7-12 secs), max-effort sets, as Bruce Lee did isos, build CNS/central nervous system strength: Strength without bulk. If you want to also put on muscular weight, research shows that longer sets, (90 seconds total, increased effort over each of 3 / 30 second segments: moderate/hard/max), builds strength, muscle, & cardio. Check "Renaissance Exercise".

    It seems you've erased another post in the thread..makes it hard to review & consider. In any case, whatever really happened to Brandon wasn't the topic. I realize you're interested in looking at the bigger picture. It -is- intrigueing, but piling speculations up doesn't strengthen an argument... just makes it more complicated. I know 2 things for sure: 1/That I don't -know- what happened to Lee, & 2/ that you don't -know-, either. We're each left w/very different speculations.
