Let's gooooo! Thank you so much for sharing this review (and our brand) with your audience - Its is an honor to be in the rotation!!! I also just played the Rudy theme song for the team as our midday pump up. _michael
Love seeing some Atreyu hype! This type of innovation is far more exciting (and inclusive) to me than a $400.00 pair of boutique trail shoes. I'm sure they'd be great guests on GR Live.
My first time hearing of Atreyu! Seems like a super cool business model and this shoe looks sweet. Love to see small companies trying something new and making running more financially inclusive
Sold. I want to support them and my daily run is all about trail to road to trail and seems like a good fit. Excited to try in Sept. Thanks for the awesomeness!
Love the new set background. Curious about this shoe , especially because of the price. But…. Because it’s for the trail I wish the toe area had a little more structure and protection. Love to see Someone from the company on GR live
Love to see such a great company getting some more publicity. I’ve ran in their other models and used the Artist for a double marathon with no issues. Kept me comfortable and moving well the entire time. Can’t wait to get a pair of these to try out.
I have had 2 pairs of the base road and one of the Artist. Love them both and pre-ordered the base trail as fast as I could. Really looking forward to getting these.
If it were cheaper to get these in the UK I would be all over Atreyu! But understand they are a smaller brand and that’s part of the charm! Hopefully as they scale up they will be easier/ cheaper to get in the UK
I use the Artist and am ordering these, they come out comparable with most brands after importing tbh, I usually use Brooks cascadia (£120) or Catamount (£140) so there is nothing in the price difference.
Love this company !!! Been running over a year in the base model and a couple 1/2 marathons in the Artist which is amazing under foot ! Looking forward to your reviews on these 2 and plan on ordering the trail version. 😜. Thanks for sharing.
I have had a pair of Saucony Mad River TRs for 2 years now (I think the Mad River TR 2 is now current, but not much difference between the two). You can consistenly find them for under $100 or cheaper (mine were $85 cad when I bought them). They are light weight, responsive, grippy on trails as well as really good for snow and ice, decent protection, and have held up really well over the 300+km I have on them. They also provide metal studs with the shoe that screw into set positions on the soles, have pre-set drill markers if you wanted to add drainage holes, and are set up for gaiters which is cool. I've ran in all of the best models/brands and would still go back to them for a budget multipurpose trail trainer.
Just placed my order. Excited to support a new shoe company. I stopped running in Altra trail shoes in 2021. Their quality went down hill fast. Crossing my fingers that these work for me.
I’ve run in the initial “base model.” Price point is exceptional, and I love supporting a small, startup company with a passion for running. That said, the base model has some downsides, IMO. Not really substantial in terms of cushion for long runs over 10 miles, and I’m 154 lbs. and lean. It’s become my tempo shoe for 5-8 miles, and that seems to be its best zone. I’m curious to try the trail shoe, but would love it to be a touch wider, and I have normal to narrowish feet. I wish atreyu much success in the future
I was looking for any review you have on the artist. Purchased my first pair of the artist today - 90 dollars out the door (including shipping!) Thanks Atreyu for your efforts in trying to restore balance to the rediculous running shoe price boom of the last 3 years! When I hear someobdy say, for example, "This shoe is only 135 dollars so its a pretty fair price" WHAT!! Nothing fair about anything in hyper inflation. Dont use relativity to co-sign rediculous shoe prices! Atreyu, you guys are my heros!
I have both the base model (road) and The Artist (carbon plate), plus one of their T-shirts! I love what Atreyu are doing. Fantastic products at an amazing price and superb customer service. I live in the UK, and therefore have to pay more for shipping - but it is still 'worth it' because of the product - shoes made with love and designed for the runner. Great review as always!
Having run in the original Base Model and The Artist, liked the Base Model (250 miles) and really liked The Artist (400 miles), I will be ordering this one. Love the super critical foam at the lower stack height and hear the heel fit is more dialed in.
Solid review. I have the Artist which is a great long run cruiser. I've run two marathons in them, BQ'd both. Very nice, dense underfoot feel is easy on the legs. The unstructured upper has pros and cons. I wear the Base 2 mostly casually as the outsole seems to be wearing is quick.
Large fan of Atreyu! The Artist is a bargain gem that gives you a super shoe experience at a fraction of competitors’ models. Great to have them bring their David act to the Goliaths of the trail space.
Atreyu is a real gem of a business model, no frills, incredible value. I’ve been tempted to take my smooth bottom Artist’s and just glue on Vibram trail soles meant for shoe repair.
Interesting point that you can see your toes through the upper. Though, I kind of like the look of it. I'd argue they're better looking than most trail runners I've owned. Not many trail shoes make it into my retired-from-running-but-good-enough-to-kick-around-town group. I could see these making that move. I have their Base Model and love them. They're holding up great, though I've only run less than 50 miles in them. I think they'll last for some time. I've enjoyed watching and reading about Atreyu's business. Very excited for them.
Another great review. I had 2 pairs of the road base version 1, and still use the artist. The shoes are definitely well worth the money, but the toe box is narrow for sure. I won't take the artist longer than 10km as they cause my toes to blisters. Was hoping they would make the trail version wider.
Very interested in this shoe. Checked their site looking for the amount of heel to toe drop; nothing listed. That's kinda important. Still very interested in ordering for a 100 miler in May. Which is another issue; time from order to delivery. I'll check their site more. Great review as always!
It’s 6mm, I show it with the text in the intro, it’s also written on the midsole (which I admittedly don’t show close up), but agree they should have a few more details on their product page and the timeline is a challenge for many.
The Artist is a really amazing shoe! I like the feel of the midsole. But the toebox is so narrow, I just can't run them. I tried it for 70km, but I just can't. The fit of the rest of the shoe is perfect.
Bruh! U gotta review the Scarpa Spin 2.0! It's like if the Torrent was born with all the bells and whistles: ess plate, pebax midsole, ortholite insole, megagrip outsole, tons of breathability. Tons of pop and a fully flexible midsole with a boatload of lateral stability for the off camber root/rock techy stuff. Great shoe for all lengths and speeds.
I have a version of all their previous shoe models with the Base Model v2.0 being my favourite so far 👍 Not easy to get in the UK but would buy the Base Model v2.0 again
I've run through 2 of their Base model now - It's insane. Their mantra of "Everything you need, nothing you don't" is refreshingly NOT BS! A road running shoe for $80 that literally does not even have an outsole sounds kinda terrible, but after hundreds of miles I can now see that most shoe "innovation" is 80% marketing, and 20% solving a problem. The 'downside' of having less is negligible and not worth the extra money - you don't need it. TBH the only downside of their shoes is that they share a name with the metalcore band that was big when I was in high school 😆
always a speedgoat fan ,so how does this compare?i have their race and base models, love them! irish government take a chunk of vat and customs which negates the savings.
Six months to ship "pending no delays"? Given covid backlog of supplies, labor, and transit you'll be lucky to get these by the end of the year. Is that really worth it to save $20 over an off the shelf competitor? Look, I'm all for supporting the little guys and saving a few bucks but I've been burned with Gustin and seen MTO brands suffer huge shipping delays in the past half year.
Love seeing Atreyu featured! I ran the Austin Half in the Atreyu Base V2 and they’re still my go-to road shoe. In fact, they have now taken the spot of my Hoka Rincon 2’s because I started getting blisters and numb toes in my Hokas… Can’t wait for the Atreyu Base Trails to arrive. Is it possible they could overtake my Hoka Torrent 2’s??? We shall see.
Also, it just goes to show how overpriced shoes are these days. I know they do pre order, but they also don’t have the buying power of the big boys. Hard not to root for them.
you keep saying "small company in the United States, Austin Texas", this shoe is actually manufactured in Fuzhou, China. You're not lying but misleading. not cool.
Let's gooooo! Thank you so much for sharing this review (and our brand) with your audience - Its is an honor to be in the rotation!!! I also just played the Rudy theme song for the team as our midday pump up. _michael
That movie never gets old! Congrats team on a stellar shoe and I look forward to runners seeing what you have in store for them!

Not in the market for a trail shoe right now but the company is doing great things. Their carbon racer at $100 is a steal....lots of fun to run in.
Sold. I want to support them and my daily run is all about trail to road to trail and seems like a good fit. Excited to try in Sept. Thanks for the awesomeness!
As a longtime fan I usually love every new video. The Never Ending Story just makes it even more lovely

Already have the Artist and love it. Looking forward to these later this year.

Ordered mine at the first day of pre-order. Have 3x "The Artist" and LOVE Them.
I love running in the Artist and super excited for the Atreyu trail shoe

I like their effort w these new trail shoes....black round strong laces for me. Any shoes that help folks get on the trails are a plus.
That swamps of sadness analogy was S tier, for those that understand

Woah! nice move Atreyu!
Good to see you review this company/shoe and an honest review wonder if they ship to Australia 🇦🇺 also nice play on words vertual 🤔
Yeah they ship to Australia, I have bought a pair
@@Tangles.88 Great 👍

i miss the subscription model they had
Heel height difference from the front of the shoe?
What is the stack height? Thanks
Shoe looks great but the shipping costs to the UK seem to push it out of my price range. Shame. Great review. 😎
When is the Artist review coming?!
Just ordered their Base Model for road after seeing this video as I love to support small companies and this company seems to take things seriously.
Does it weird you out at all that it’s see through and you can look at your toes?
How are the shoes when it comes to water drainage?
are the shoes made in USA? if not, where are they made?

Not a whole lot of toe protection from rocks?
No. Atreyu is an post hardcore band that was formed in 1998.
what about drainage?
It’s ok. Not much drainage through the midsole, but the mesh is quite breathable and allows for water movement
Does atrayu offer returns?
Do they sell their shoes in Europe?
Yes
They ship to Europe but it gets imported from the US so you'll have to pay taxes and potentially duties.
And I am thinking loudly. Why should I buy Atreyu and not Pegasus Trail 3 for 95$....
Love seeing Atreyu featured!
I ran the Austin Half in the Atreyu Base V2 and they’re still my go-to road shoe.
In fact, they have now taken the spot of my Hoka Rincon 2’s because I started getting blisters and numb toes in my Hokas…
Can’t wait for the Atreyu Base Trails to arrive.
Is it possible they could overtake my Hoka Torrent 2’s??? We shall see.
Look at Decathlon trail products (Brand EVADICT) ; 90€ you got amazing shoes
Too reminiscent of the New Balance MT110
Also, it just goes to show how overpriced shoes are these days. I know they do pre order, but they also don’t have the buying power of the big boys. Hard not to root for them.
Atreyu is the best
What shoe costs 4x this shoe?!
Speedland almost
Speedland
Those lugs don't inspire a ton of confidence.
Atreyu did my boy Jamison Michael dirty at some point so I can't support them. I'll support you though keep up the great work Ethan!
you keep saying "small company in the United States, Austin Texas", this shoe is actually manufactured in Fuzhou, China. You're not lying but misleading. not cool.
I don't understand the price, considering the cost of the carbon fiber racer. This shoe should be priced lower
10.99 plus tax. Balance in the universe restored.
Meh
We feel the same way about your comment.
@@etho98 thanks for letting me know
