Update: The new standard battery pack will get 405 miles of range in the city and 339 miles of range on the highway??? thats a huge improvement! is that a typo? I checked the actual document and these numbers are before the EPA .7 adjustment so the actual EPA city range is 283 and highway is 237 with a combine rating of 263. This is still really good as the battery has been reduced in capacity to 92KWH.
Hopefully the R2 gets these specs at least for the mid/top trims!🎉
Where do you fine the documents?
@@bradleyscarreviews found them through the Rivian forums
I'll be damn sad if they ditch the forest green interior, that interior was a huge draw for me. Not like the others suck, but... damn. Felt so cozy, so pleasant. I'd rather they just jack the cost up on interior options than remove it.
Rivian stock doesn't remotely reflect the true value of the company, in my opinion. They have an extremely viable last mile deliver van that has already been mass adopted by Amazon, and will now start to get picked up by other companies. And that vehicle is a gen-1.
They have an incredible design language (also my opinion). You can tell when the van was made by them.
This is not a suggestion to purchase stock. Do not take financial advice from TH-cam comments.
Yes to the LFP battery... And I would love to see an R1T short cab 6ft bed variant come out... Or an R2T short cab with a 5 or 6ft bed.
Chromecast is a great solution for flexible entertainment while charging or camping. I wish Aptera would implement a simple HDMI port so I could use one since they will not have the same software budget to work with google as Rivian did.
Optimal for LFP degradation/battery management is not to charge to 100% every day. The best would be to charge to 100% once per week or so for BMS calibration and then let it sit around 50% the rest of the time :)
I'm still waiting on the V2H announcement. That is on my list for the next EV I get.
Ford Lightning and the Silverado has it?
@@Harrythehun Yeah. All EVs should have it.
Lucid air has V2H capacity. Currently V2V is live
Almost there. So close. Almost there!!!
I heard rumors of a cheaper fleet model without the active suspension and a few other features. would love to see an R1T at around the Ford Lightning Pro price.
I read somewhere that Rivian already utilized excess drive train heat to help heat the cabin but used resistive heating when that residual heat is not available. I guess that was not true?
Not Forrest Green 😢
They will get the new tariffs on the imported lfp batteries…
Can they make it smalker, seeing as how it doesn't have any pulling power and doesn't need to be 8 feet tall?
Curious if quad motor is going away or going enduro
I’m thinking Foxconn may become essential for Rivian’s survival/growth anyway maybe Ineos will do their electric vehicle with them too!?
I like the updates. I'm with you that anything to improve charging capacity, speed, and hardware, the better. Honestly, I know (or at least feel like this is the case) that it could easily be a software update down the road, but I still wonder just how many people would be pulled off the fence about Rivian if they just enabled Apple CarPlay.
You know I’ve been thinking why can’t Rivan just start with the R3 and then build the R2
Because the R2 is a heck of lot closer to the R1 in terms of design, and the R2 is likely to have better margins than the R3. At the R3s expected price, Rivian needs to already be a margin positive company.
They almost got it… until they decided to keep CCS1 for now! Ah! So Close!
How would they even do that now? Tesla isn't ready for anyone to join at this exact moment, they'd have to work out software.
Don't need the Elmo port
Too soon to switch. They just got access to supercharger and also issues currently at Tesla.
Did they move the placement for the charging port? If no, great that they didn't move to NACS plug.
@@theproffessional9rivian Ford and Kia can already charge at Tesla superchargers. No big deal having a CCS port or the location. Just pull up centered with the station and plug n charge. Lots of Teslas use CCS with an adapter as well when it's cheaper.
Should rivian focus on their charging stations a bit more. So they can be THE CCS station anyone can use. Would put them higher than Tesla if they can do charging stations best.
The LFP batteries are superior in every metric to every other battery chemistry right now. The nascent solid-state batteries coming out will dominate everything when they start entering mass production.
Needing a NACS adapter is an unbelievably 1st world problem.
Yup, I’ll wait for NACS
I need the r2 steering wheel on the r1s
I'm a Rivian stockholder, so I want it to be successful. But as a personal vehicle choice, the lack of Apple CarPlay is a deal breaker. I'll keep driving my F-150 Lightning.
Apple Car Play! That’s the only remaining omission that I really want to see added.
glove box and larger battery cell for LFP
Still no sunshade on those giant glass roofs?
They put an electric glass option so you can turn it opaque
Do you think rivian makes it out the other end? I have a bit invested but am considering buying more shares
It’s gonna be tight and the worst is yet to come but I do think they’ll make it
I thought Rivian would replace the 12v lead acid battery with a lithium battery for longer life and low maintenance, like Tesla did.
LFP without the new stratospheric Chinese tariffs, wonder how they are going to pull that off?
I was hoping to see the NACS charger as well as it moved to the opposite side so that I can charge easier at V2 tesla chargers. 😕
The biggest miss is the trash phone chargers aren't being replaced as far as we can tell.
Rivian needs to be gross margin positive by the end of Q4 2024 and have at least $5B left to launch R2 or…
Cannot wait to purchase a used Rivian for cheaper once they refresh the R1T 😭
Microphone sounds different to normal🤔
Welcome to years ago Rivian....
I should be a youtuber if all I have to do is read off a fact sheet like this guy does.
one thing many don't seem to understand is that rivian lost something like 37k per vehicle gross and that's the number they are saying they will attempt to make profitable but if you do the math on the net they lose about 100k per vehicle so that attempt for gross profitability seems to only amount to a slight dent in the massive losses that will continue. R1 has been in production for 2½ years now, it never occurred to them that profitability was a thing? nor in the 4 year development prior...
and it's one thing for the parts to cost more than the car combined but how they are able to lose so much money outside of the vehicle production is a complete mystery. they lose a billion and a half every single quarter. we used to say that a new car development was 1bn including factory. Rivian loses more than that every single quarter. They've gone through 16-17bn$, just hte R1 and the van. HOW!!! you might say they are spending on R2 but no, that's mostly next year. Assuming there is a next year.
How about apple car play for Christ sake
Feature don’t matter. It’s ugly AF. Fire the design team, it’s basically a 2024 version of the OG Prius
