Downloaded Black Flag immediately after watching. Played it many times in the past. The music used in the background reminded me of great moments in the game had to play it again.

That makes perfect sense (about robbery and desperation), and I believe you are correct. But definitely, if you're going to disagree with something you should also understand it.
Although I agree, I lived enough time in Argentina to question it (About the part that no one steals by choice but for desperation)
You should look into modern pirates. They make money by getting ransom money from the ships pirate insurance. Really it’s odd, there is a whole new modern dynamic.
Its because most of the things they stole were documented and will be recalled back once found.

And that was the general sentiment around piracy, the poor were stuck being poor, while the rich and powerful were enjoying brand new luxuries and conveniences that the age of exploration granted them.
Piracy was the way people who were undermined took back power. Every boat is owned by a wealthy backer, and that backer makes (literally) boatloads of profit, while paying their crew pennies. Pirates were stealing from the rich and giving to the poor aka themselves.

I went hard when I lived in Florida and had to start selling all kinds of shit just to survive. Being poor is the worst, the only way I could've afforded treatment for my epilepsy was selling weed. It wasn't a choice, it was either do that or die.
I eventually got out because I started losing QPs and forgetting I had sold people stuff and would lose my money cause of how I hid it. it's been longer than the statue of limitations so I don't mind talking about it, but everyone I worked with was also just trying to survive.
Life is hard in America, especially the south.
Now I live in Canada, my best friend from those days is dead ( he picked up an opiate habit, stopped, then OD'd very recently ), and I have a wife. There are a lot of things I wish I did differently, but all of that shit made me who I am today for better or worse and you just gotta live with it.
Let's talk about it some other time.

Yeah, don't have children if you are not going to take care of em. I think in those times you couldn't legally leave your wife/husband, maybe that's why he did it... but still, in the pirate golden age i would rather seeing him hire someone to kill his wife instead of abandon his children lol

well just fun fact pirates it was more of a common code that they would never take there families with them when they become a pirate be it cuz of possible n what not.also they tended to instead make new relationships with other pirates they were sailing with and just the biggest fyi pirates never were women except one ^-^ food for thought

I feel like you missed the part where the children would be in unimaginable danger if they went with him so him leaving his children behind might have been a dick move but it was probably for the best
