The golden years of the Ottoman Empire come to life in a television series. The life of Suleiman the Magnificent is preparing to be a guest in your homes in all its glory. Get ready to experience the era with ambition, loves, wars and all the struggle.
Prince Solomon, with his closest man, Ibrahim Pargam Ibrahim receives the bad news in a hunt. His father Yavuz Sultan Selim Khan passed away. Prince Suleyman sets out for Istanbul without waiting. Prince Süleyman quickly reaches the capital. He attends the culus ceremony without waiting. His life changed in one day. He started his life as Sultan Süleyman.
Meanwhile, a galley loaded with slaves coming over the Black Sea is heading towards Istanbul. The hottest of the slaves is not yet aware that he is on a journey that will change his destiny. He is rebelling helplessly to return.
Sultan Süleyman wants to show what kind of sultan he is by the commands he gave on the first day of his sultanate. But not everyone will like these decisions. Sultan Süleyman does not hesitate to challenge all of Europe with the messages he sends.
Alex, despite all his rebellion, is brought to the Topkapi palace. His attitude attracted the attention of Valide Sultan from the first moment. But it won't be long before Alex learns the rules of the palace. He chooses a great target. Alex, Sultan Suleyman's first night on the way to attract his attention. Sultan Suleiman's wife Mahidevran just arrived from the palace of Manisa. He is looking forward to seeing his wife.

Alex, tüm isyankarlığına rağmen, Topkapı sarayına getirilir. Onun bu tavrı ilk andan itibaren Valide Sultan’ın dikkatini çeker. Ama Alex’in sarayın kurallarını öğrenmesi uzun sürmez. My God! What control the Sultan exercises on everybody! Firstly, he told his mother his piece of his mind, then he stopped Hurrem with a touch, stopped his sister Hatice from getting up from the table with just a look and finally told Ibrahim to go and see Valide with a nod! Great actor indeed!
The sultan Suliman was a peacemaker/peacekeeper. He didn't want tension with his family.
That was absolute monarchy in medieval time. Power over everything and everybody.

Hurrem grew so much. In the first season, she would have caused a huge scene and made things worse. But this time, she felt herself getting worked up, and tried to excuse herself so she didn’t do anything hasty. She began to carry herself with such class and dignity. It’s awesome to watch.

@@thodorismaroundas8321 Yes really. Suleiman was born in 1494. There is no reliable birthday for Hatice. But because Suleiman was a male, and the one prince one mother rule, Hafsa wouldn't have any children after Suleiman. So Hatice was born before 1494.
Mehmet was born about 1521. Bayezid about 1525. Between these dates, Hurrem was recorded having 5 children under 5 years. She was then living in Hafsa's harem, not allowed to go out as she pleases and Hatice cannot come to the harem. Ottoman's harem rules does not allow the sultan's married sisters to return to the harem. If the were divorced or widowed, they returned to other parts of Eski palace.
So Hurrem cannot go out, Hatice cannot come in, where would they meet?

I think Valide only liked Mahidevran because she can control her, unlike Hurrem who has a mind of her own. Also because she pinned her hope that Mustafa will sit on the throne so it was her way of earning Mahidevran's trust in return. Valide's strategy of sending concubines to Suleiman to keep her away from Hurrem was really mean-spirited and downright shameful
It was common for Valide to send more concubines for king.

Words aren't enough to praise the cast. Every minute details were taken so magnificently. From blinking the eyes to downright staring (such simple things but powerful) they carried it out so convincingly that one could imagine being in the Ottoman era itself.

So have I, but won in the end! Still uncomfortable but I just ignored it. She treated our children right although sometimes they would come home and tell me what she said. Very hurtful especially for the children who love their Mum.

You have to wonder if the mother's if sultans wield their power to compensate for any perceived wrongs from when they were concubines. Each seems to try and tightly control their son, only hurrem was truly able to sway Suleiman from his mother, all others tried but never with such success
I never got why Nigar ever even looked twice at Ibrahim. He mumbles half of everything he says and he isn't that good looking nor is he charming.
