Indian here. Instead of feeling pumped and ecstatic about our team's superlative performances so far, I'm left feeling ashamed, embarrassed and deeply saddened for a number of other reasons. From the mishandling of ticketing, to the lack of preparation of the grounds and stands, but more than anything else - the purposeful ill-will towards Pakistani players, supporters and media. The vitriolic blasting of demeaning chants directed at the Pakistani players really goes to show how shallow, insecure and inhumane we are as a collective. I'm sorry. These are not who I consider my countrymen and women. I'm shaken but not surprised - we've reached a new low as a country, and the whole world is witness to this absolute debacle incentivised, heck even actively orchestrated by Modi and the BCCI - a corrupt private agency, hand-in-glove with a hyper-nationalistic, minority-hating, institution-destroying, fascist party at the forefront of Indian political leadership that continues to actively inculcate in the minds of our people, feelings of hate and malice towards 'the other', all for the sole purpose of hoarding power and authority.
