Lee Perry is so unique, I can’t believe my ear sometimes, those rythm are so genious and with perfect accuracy in the detail of every instrument. Everything is responding with perfection and synchronicity. This is so pure language. No body has never been at this level, no doubt he is the geatest ever as a reggae muscian.

The undisputed King of Reggae Dub had a massive influence on me as a young man. Yes, it was late at night in the late 70's and I had been smokin' some very potent green. Sydney radio station JJ 1540 AM were well known for playing experimental and avant garde music. That's where I first heard Lee ' Scratch ' Perry. In June 1980, JJ became JJJ 105.7 FM and the music sounded even better.
Superlatives cannot describe or do justice to the man and his contribution to music, art and culture.
I come from a town of 400.. I was 5 I somehow got this record . It changed my life I didn't know people made music like this . Tonight I'm 42 listening to this just having happy memories . I still love this album ✌🏼✌🏼
Any hater can hate but seeing lee in concert twice and I’m a kid at 40... from San Diego... he has made a massive difference in reggae and still is going ! Have kindness love and respect in heart the way jah has put him in the earth brothers and sisters.
RIP....a true legend. Keith Richards once said of him "More than a producer, he knows how to inspire the artist’s soul. Like Phil Spector, he has a gift of not only hearing sounds that come from nowhere else, but also translating those sounds to the musicians. Scratch is a shaman."

Went to see Lee Scratch Perry at the Milkweg in Amsterdam for my thirtieth, twenty years ago, whilst enjoying a heavy hit of White Widow. What a happy memory to relive tonight, listening to this masterpiece with some fine herb. Rip dub-originator.
I was just born when this was made, I remember hearing this playing at home when I was a child. My parents Black America were very conscious people. Brings back good memories.

when i used to go to festivals i heard lee scratch perry for the first time i stayed up all night in the pissing rain while this was on a sound system native timebomb i danced for 18 hours stright i danced alot in them days maybe explain why my knees are bad but it was brilliant the bod who left his tape in the sound system was a star because you know whats its like when you hear sommin and cant get enough it was early in the morning no one about when i eventually almost passed out but man those memories you can never forget and i think to myself where did the frikken time go?? jah love

1978 old style Garrard box turntable, 2p piece bluetacked on the arm, wired up to a WEM guitar amp and bladted max volume through a Fane Pop 60 open backed cab.
No audible ecstatic feeling touched that or has since.
'Philistines Of The Land' on the 'Upsetter' label my top tune.
Used to run home every lunch-hour to listen to two tunes for 10 mins max volume and then run back to work.
Scratch was the Upsetter.
NB. The 'Coxsone Affair' album on 'Tribes Man' label is well worth a listen if anyone can find a copy.

I'm 66 now and used to run an adventure playground in Peckham Sarf London. I would get free wood from the docklands so the youth could build their sound systems in the building. I learned Jamaican and took a deep dive into dub and the great reggae of the 70s. Thank you dear youth for my immersion! This reminds me so much of those good times. And to this day I still listen to the living godfather LSP.

50 years on this planet, and an oldskool raver, yet I love DUB and Dancehall just as much.
Thanks to Rankin Miss P, and John Peel, who introduced me to this wonderful music, in the 80's.
I used to listen to John Peel each week night as I lay in bed as a young teenager - just waiting for Reggae he would play around midnight.
Same, same lads... Sunday nights blazin away before back to reality Mondays.

Live at the Wild Buffalo. I was going through the worst year of my life. My lady of 20 years and beautiful mother of our children left me. It was a soul crushing time as something wonderful had soured and was drifting away. At the show I reached out and touched the Mad Man's shoe. He looked down to me and held my gaze for a long minute. The bass and horns were banging. He put up the peace sign and I raised my hand up and gestured peace to him. He kept looking me straight in my eyes and then gently put his peace sign into mine and I couldn't stop moving and crying. He knew suffering in many forms and saw mine. With his kindness and music I felt a pressure removed from my heart. Like I knew I was going to make it. He did it again once more later in the show and I left feeling very different than when I had arrived. What a gift, Thank You Dub Father.

So loved his music! Discovered him on TH-cam about 15 years ago. Can hear how many musicians he has inspired over the years. Always loved Reggae music, love to dance, at 67 still dancing. Always loved all the quirky sounds, and dubbing. Also inspired to pray when listening, and hearing him call the name of Jah! I especially love the song Disco Devil, and his wanting to send the Devil to outer space!
