Oh wow....I'm so very sorry to hear of Maggie's passing. Regardless of human or animal, death...especially a sudden death is one of life's most difficult challenges to cope with. Stay positive and safe....and yes, better days are ahead!

That barn reminds me of the barn at my uncle's farm. It has the same construction. HIs barn was built around the 1880's or 1890's. That might give you an idea as to when it was built. That is a shame. Sorry it happened. But that is farming. Seeing that barn brought back many memories of my time on the farm. But I know you will keep on farming. It is in your blood. Hello Taylor, when I was an older teenager I lost what appeared to be a very healthy, large, beautiful Holstein heifer, a local fair 4H champion, from sudden death...no warning signs, no prior illness...she ate very well the night before...she was a pet raised with love and care, brushed frequently, petted frequently, a princess among the cows herd, etc....found in the morning laying down with what appeared to be no struggle whatsoever...just sudden death...I felt total disbelief, extreme shock, questioning over and over again (even sometimes now) why and how did this happen? I really am very sorry, with empathy, especially having experienced the unexpected and sudden death of a loved cow who should have had many more years of life, love, and attention given to her...including many more years of enjoyment for me from her...I am sincerely sorry...Lonnie from Michigan

Wish I were there to give you a soft hug. 🐻When I worked on my uncles farm when I was 18 I had a calf I rased that followed me aruond the pasture like a puppy. I got real attached to Lucy (my aunts name) Lucy developed a stomach Hernia the vet said he could do nothing . Uncle Tom sold the calf to be prossed. I felt bad for a while without telling anyone. Thank you for sharing your story.

Hello Taylor & Brent. From your description about your deceased cow,, would say that she had a massive heart attack. The main consolation is that she went very quickly and didn’t suffer. Regarding the tractor exhaust, I wonder if the safety shield is made in such a way that you could put a stainless steel hose clamp around the shield and muffler to prevent the rattling noise. ‘ At our repair facility, I would take a plasma cutter and cut around the welds of the exhaust stack that was mounted on our dump trucks so that we could clamp the safety shield onto the new pipe for the exhaust. In our fleet, We had several of the Chevrolet/GMC dump trucks that had basically the same exact cab as your truck that you have on your farm. We had more than a few different brand of trucks that we used to reuse the safety shield rather than discarding them. We used to purchase the stainless steel flexible pipe to go from the bottom of the exhaust stack to the pipe coming from the exhaust manifold or manifolds whatever the case may be. We used the stainless steel band clamps to wrap around the flexible pipe to the exhaust stack and we used a chop saw to cut the flexible pipe which was much easier to deal with. This approach tends to be much cheaper than purchasing a brand new exhaust stack. This approach works no matter what diameter the pipe for the stack is. Hope this helps you out.

So sorry for your loss. I remember when I was growing up on the farm we lost two cows out in the pasture but they had been shot by a couple young guys out spot lighting and violating deer at night and it was this time of year. We also had some young heifers rustled out of the place where we pastured them all summer and yet the strangest thing I ever seen was we had 6 cows come up missing after a tornado back in the mid 1960s we seen them standing in the pasture just before the tornado hit and then they were gone we found them standing in a field almost 3 miles away just like they had been. Picked up and carried their and sat back down. They were actually standing pretty much the way we had last seen them and there was no way they could have ran that far in the amount of time between them being in our pasture and when they were found in the other field Actually another farmer found them and came and told us. He knew they were ours because we had the only herd of jerseys around

That barn reminds me of the barn at my uncle's farm. It has the same construction. HIs barn was built around the 1880's or 1890's. That might give you an idea as to when it was built. That is a shame. Sorry it happened. But that is farming. Seeing that barn brought back many memories of my time on the farm. But I know you will keep on farming. It is in your blood. Hi Taylor. So sorry for the loss of your cow and her calf especially when you invest so much time and effort into raising her. You can put a monetary value on Maggie but what is harder is the personal loss you experience. I will say a prayer for you to make you feel better if that helps. Thanks for another great video . Hello Taylor, when I was an older teenager I lost what appeared to be a very healthy, large, beautiful Holstein heifer, a local fair 4H champion, from sudden death...no warning signs, no prior illness...she ate very well the night before...she was a pet raised with love and care, brushed frequently, petted frequently, a princess among the cows herd, etc....found in the morning laying down with what appeared to be no struggle whatsoever...just sudden death...I felt total disbelief, extreme shock, questioning over and over again (even sometimes now) why and how did this happen? I really am very sorry, with empathy, especially having experienced the unexpected and sudden death of a loved cow who should have had many more years of life, love, and attention given to her...including many more years of enjoyment for me from her...I am sincerely sorry...Lonnie from Michigan

I’m sorry for your loss Taylor. I know growing up when I grew up on a farm we had a cow named Elvis and she died in the pasture also. We buried her in the back pasture by the little log cabin we made. Elvis loved laying there during the summer. I know it is tough but keep your chin up and I’ll be praying for you.

😭 Hey Tay, I feel sadness for your loss. Wish I were there to give you a soft hug. 🐻When I worked on my uncles farm when I was 18 I had a calf I rased that followed me aruond the pasture like a puppy. I got real attached to Lucy (my aunts name) Lucy developed a stomach Hernia the vet said he could do nothing . Uncle Tom sold the calf to be prossed. I felt bad for a while without telling anyone. Losing an animal is always sad but we always seem to perceive and get past those things.

Hello Taylor & Brent. From your description about your deceased cow,, would say that she had a massive heart attack. The main consolation is that she went very quickly and didn’t suffer.
Regarding the tractor exhaust, I wonder if the safety shield is made in such a way that you could put a stainless steel hose clamp around the shield and muffler to prevent the rattling noise. ‘
At our repair facility, I would take a plasma cutter and cut around the welds of the exhaust stack that was mounted on our dump trucks so that we could clamp the safety shield onto the new pipe for the exhaust. In our fleet, We had several of the Chevrolet/GMC dump trucks that had basically the same exact cab as your truck that you have on your farm.
We had more than a few different brand of trucks that we used to reuse the safety shield rather than discarding them. We used to purchase the stainless steel flexible pipe to go from the bottom of the exhaust stack to the pipe coming from the exhaust manifold or manifolds whatever the case may be. We used the stainless steel band clamps to wrap around the flexible pipe to the exhaust stack and we used a chop saw to cut the flexible pipe which was much easier to deal with. This approach tends to be much cheaper than purchasing a brand new exhaust stack. This approach works no matter what diameter the pipe for the stack is. Hope this helps you out.

Hi Taylor I am sorry to hear about the loss if your cow. Its a tough pill to swallow because there like family on small dairy farms and it also is a big loss of income. I know were your coming from we had a small dairy up until 2003 and it always hurts to lose an animal

Good day Taylor the ups and downs of farming but it always hurts to lose an animal not only financially but as family some may not realise the closeness one gets to them when you are around them and work with them daily take care stay safe and have a great day.
Sorry for the loss of one of your cows Taylor, I hope you keep her in your memories. I too have raised a heifer calf who was abandoned by her mother only to find her dead after her 3rd calf, her and her calf were a Holstein/Guernsey cross nicest and most beloved animal in my uncle’s herd

So sorry for your loss. I remember when I was growing up on the farm we lost two cows out in the pasture but they had been shot by a couple young guys out spot lighting and violating deer at night and it was this time of year. We also had some young heifers rustled out of the place where we pastured them all summer and yet the strangest thing I ever seen was we had 6 cows come up missing after a tornado back in the mid 1960s we seen them standing in the pasture just before the tornado hit and then they were gone we found them standing in a field almost 3 miles away just like they had been. Picked up and carried their and sat back down. They were actually standing pretty much the way we had last seen them and there was no way they could have ran that far in the amount of time between them being in our pasture and when they were found in the other field Actually another farmer found them and came and told us. He knew they were ours because we had the only herd of jerseys around
