Top 5 hidden gems I’ve found on TH-cam. Holy shit this is amazing. Mini docu series, abandoned places, and skiing???? How tf does someone do all 3 so perfectly
You should go to Nikolai Schirmer's channel (he's one of their sponsored riders) and he has a ton of full length docs he does with them that are absolutely incredible.
Knocked it out of the park again guys! Been going to Japan for the past 5 years now and won't stop! Great historical look at their resorts and the famous 'Japow'! 10/10 to all involved!
Beautiful film that draws attention to an ongoing challenge in the snow country areas of Japan. Many resorts that are still operating are struggling to sustain themselves and with the uncertainty of climate change, the challenges ahead look great. The answer is attracting and building new communities in these areas. A message underscored in this film. Thank you for making it!
The comment from the boss of Nozawa Onsen about the boom being just that, and we are back to normal again, sits well with me. I live in Matsumoto and get a season pass to Happo-One every year, because it's big/high enough to get snow even in a bad year and it's still pretty local. In my youth, (the nineties) I went to every ski area you could poke a stick at, and there were a few gems, but mostly it was to find a place where nobody else was going.
Beautiful work.....I've been in love with Japan & its snow for a while now. The great storms that deliver that pow-pow come from Siberia across the Sea of Japan....Pacific storms normally, [but not always], deliver rain .
This is a great video. I appreciate all the work you guys put into it. It's sad but true part of an aging society with a rapidly decreasing population. Thanks much!!
Starting to see some of this take place in Asahikawa this year. Low visitor turnout even though it’s the first full winter season since covid restrictions ended. Some areas are completely deserted, with only a trickling of visitors. Hopefully it returns to normal. At least I got to ski without any crowds, but can’t help but feel bad for the resorts. Lots of staff operating the facilities but barely any visitors.
I was shocked, I am still shocking! How such a great documentary film been produced. If possible I would really like to be a member in your team. Hope one day I can produce a film like this!
Skiing is no longer popular in Japan. Many resort areas and communities have seen fewer visitors and businesses shuttered. But other areas have had an influx of foreigners and new businesses, often run by foreigners. A resort in Niigata was just purchased by a Singaporean group and another nearby area is owned by Lotte, a Korean conglomerate. Niseko in Hokkaido has been booming for ten years and became the most expensive resort in Japan due to popularity with Australians and Chinese. Japanese resorts are extremely cheap compared to those in other countries and travelers are taking notice. More resorts in Japan may die but many more will thrive. Thank you for this beautiful video ❤
In japan they didnt had aprèski, they had Disco! And kareoke ,you can still see many abandoned dico places, its sad because now there is nothing almost after ski in japan 😅😢some foreign places like hakuba and myoko have bars with mainly foreigners but no more disco or clubs or drinking culture after ski for japanese
0:44 is Hong Kong by the way, that angular building in the background is the Bank of China building in Admiralty, Hong Kong Island. No snow to be found here unfortunately but Japan is not too far at a 4 hour flight to Tokyo so me and my wife like to try and squeeze in at least one trip per year
Watching from Minakami. How is Nozowa Onsen a ghost resort. Probably the third most popular tourist ski resort in Japan? Is there an area of nozowa that’s abandoned nearby? Nice video btw 👍🏼👍🏼
how is it a sustainable sport if pro skiers, well even average skiers, go ski 1 week japan, coming from usa, europa.. or people come ski to Andermatt, Switzerland for a week, flying in from new york?
The ski pass prices in Japan 150-300 USD. This is only a bit less than in the US 200-400 USD and still 3 times higher than anywhere in Europe. I think the ski industry with such prices has no chance of surviving in Japan.

Some resorts like Tomamu just build a new one next to the old one. Great movie thanks 🎉🎉❤❤
Great stories! Thanks for making these films. Looks like some good places to uphill.

One of the best series here. Simply amazing vibes.

Terrific video. Just bought myself some Black Crows so this came up in my feed. Worth the watch!
Very Cool.
I have skied in Japan 5 times in December always, I have never seen such snow level. Neither am I aware of such ski resorts as well.
Wonderful video!!!
Lovely
Oh my my, this was so beautiful to watch!! Japan has so many places i'd love to know
So fascinating!

Niseko is bought out by a
Hong Kong real estate corp. Sad.
Love the Ghost resort series.... especially this from Japan... even though i think 0:43 in is Hong Kong ;-)
Well done!!! 👏 ⛷️

Boring apres in Japan. Closing slopes at 4pm is lame
As a Japanese, i think this is serious problem and we need to solve this.

What's the song @4:01?

Nice video btw 👍🏼👍🏼
It's better for gaijin to think Nozawa is abandoned
@@marksilcock2961 with the amount there I think it’s too late 😂
This video is about Oana, not Nozawa. The Nozawa president is an expert on the resorts in Japan, hence he was interviewed.
Yes, an area SW of Nozawa Onsen town at 6:07 in the movie, findable on google maps
Japan had over 700 resorts, while Alaska's had like 5.
That makes since as Alaska’s population is less than 1 million. Japan has 125 million.
That's true, it's just crazy how many epic mountains we have.@@rzadigi

Is this fake movie?Im Japanese and it doesn’t look like real landscape

軽井沢は元々、外国人の避暑地、ニセコも外国人に救われた。
外人様が集まると日本人も寄ってきます😅
Terrible !
