Good catch! Doesn't Balcones makes a plum rum? They do so many different things, easy to get confused

I bought 57 bottles of whisky/whiskey in 2020 and just picked up 3 more today. Before 2020 I'd have 5-6 and never bought more until a bottle or 2 was completely gone. Only issue is that there is so much to choose from and I only drink once a week unless a holiday weekend. I could easily have a serious problem if I didn't reign it in.
Your reviews have been extremely helpful in directing me towards a final purchase decision. Thanks for being a part of my 2020 journey.

I just recently found a new love for Irish Whiskey! I’ve been an avid bourbon drinker the last 4 years and have been trying to expand my palate to new styles. That Redbreast 12yr cask strength is amazing! Also been really enjoying cask strength sherried scotches. Love the channel and your format. Cheers and happy new year!

My wife gave me the Green Spot CLB for Christmas after I saw your review. I’ve only had one 1-2oz neck pour so far but it got better and better as it opened up. Excellent. Thanks for the review and happy new year.

WOOOOOW the Joseph Magnus cigar blend take it!!!! Great choice, I was really wondering where that was going to come in at... I thought you might throw a curve ball or something but you hit a home run. Great list and rankings, spot on from my perspective. However, I think you should try a little bit more bourbons in the future.

Agree the the cigar blend is fantastic and the redbreast 12 cask strength is easily the best Irish whiskey i have ever tasted .like your channel and content but really wish you would do bourbon reviews a bit more often. There is some amazingly fantastic bourbon available you really should review because i respect your opinions and would enjoy hearing what you would have to say about them.

Loving the Redbreast 12 Cask Strength I got over the summer. Also managed to pick up a Bunna Moine Bordeaux, but I'm waiting for a special occasion to open that one.
Did you manage to try the Cairdeas 2020 release, port and wine casks? I'm curious how that measures up to the Triple Wood Release. Great List Erik, cheers!

Great video! 4 or your top 5 are non-Scotch! Wow. I agree that Balcones and Magnus make and blend amazing whisky.
It surprised me! Peated Scotch is my favorite yet I gave higher scores to non-Scotch whiskies. I think it shows that my scores are not merely based on personal preferences.
I really expected an Ardbeg to be closer to the top for you. Happy Holidays
ME TOO! When it came time to put together my list for Top 10 Whiskies for 2020 I went back through my 95 videos (I could not remember all the whiskies let alone the scores of all of them) and I was surprised that a Bourbon was #1. As I said in the video, I am much more of a peated Scotch whisky fan. Unfortunately, I have now been ex-communicated from the Cult of Ardbeg - LOL!
It is amazing that all the top whiskies shown online by different reviewers do not like the same ones, just goes to show you every bodies taste is different, no body likes the same thing.
There are thousands of new whiskies on the market each year. Our Top Whiskies for 2020 are different because we’re all reviewing different whiskies throughout the year. Nobody reviews or tastes them all. Not even Jim Murray.
That Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend is way over priced for the average person at $350.00. I would love to try this one but I guess it will always beyond my price range.
Retail is 189 and I got mine for $189 in Pennsylvania... which is a regulated state. But how can you say way over priced at 350? Again the Retail is 189? If the market is paying 350 then by definition its not over priced.
I paid $175. If you get them on release they are cheaper. If you wait a year they jump up $100.
I paid $150 for the Cigar Blend. You need to find a new store that isn't going to rip you off.
$10 difference? I wish. RB Cask Strength is almost double the price of RB12 in US.
Not in my neighborhood in California. The 12 is $44, Lustau is $65, CS is $66 but I have seen it for $55 from time to time. Prices vary greatly around the USA, New York is especially expensive.
@@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies yeah I’m in NJ so prices can get nutty. Cheapest I’ve seen it is $82 but usually $100 or more for cask.
In England RB 12 is between £38-42, Lustau between £45-48 and RB 12 CS £80 approx double the standard 12
The Hechiceros is Port Cask finished...not Rum Cask. There is a separate Texas Single Malt bottling from Balcones which is Rum Cask finished, and it does not have a specific name.

The Glendronach Hand Filled got a higher score but it was reviewed in 2019.

Where do you buy your whisky? The most expensive bottle is the Jo Magnus Cigar Blend which retails at $175. Many of the others are under $100.
