I live in Augusta Georgia and in our Downtown Area which is our Oldest area we have lots of houses built like this, turns out that it was French immigrants that built a lot of the Neighborhoods in our Olde Town District. Which explains why our door sizes are always so different than normal houses, and from room to room they change as well. But the architecture around here is amazing and I love it.
I have a very old book you may find interesting. Its about the 1896 tornado. My great grandfather gave it to me. He lived thru it and experienced it first hand.
That sounds very fascinating! The oral accounts of the tornado are few and far between. It is a wonderful thing to be able to pass down the stories from people who experienced it first-hand.
@@ThisHouse To be honest I don't remember much of his stories. I was very young at the time he told them. If you ever decide to do an episode about it, keep me in mind.
Second Empire architecture was not from “the end of the 19th century” it was from middle of 19th century. Roughly 1850’s - 1870’s. Emperor Louis Napoleon was driven from France in the 1870’s in Franco-Prussian War. That was the the end of Second Empire Architecture.

The Addams Family mansion is often associated with Second Empire style . I absolutely love The Addams family Manor..🦇
I mean most of Paris is just beaux art architecture, baroque is just an evolution of that style
