- In Part 1 of this discovery I removed the bed from the FJ45, discover frame damage and set out to fix it.

Nice work! As for the crack, I'd grind a v channel in it with a cutting wheel to allow for deeper penetration, then run a deep weld and a few more passes over the initial weld to close the gap. Then grind smooth and add a gusset plate on the outside with some holes so you can add some welds within the gusset. With the corrosion that was under the patch I'd probably go about 3 inches either side of the crack just to make sure you are back in full strength frame steel.

I wish there was a way to do that patch from the inside to make it seamless and stealth somehow... but that would probably require cutting out the rare un-rusty c channel... looks pretty awesome except for that one crack and the tube brace... weird how the rust fairies work their Toyota magic!
great videos mate! im restoring a HJ45 as well, what are you wheel specs? its a great look!
Thanks for the support. They are 15” method wheels. Not sure off the offset. I’m not even sure if they will work yet (quite tight on the rear drums). They were on my FJ60. I swapped them over to the 45 as the rubber has a lot of dry rot and the 45 is down for a while.
Im doing a FJ45 frame at the moment, just going to send it to the sand blasters then in for professional repair.

The back end of my father's FJ45 frame was literally cracked and the repair done by the previous owner was terrible.. the back end of the frame is bent and is sideways

Yeah this one has had a hard life too, but I’ve managed to get her back together to the point I’m happy. Part 2 is pretty much done and should be uploaded soon.

@@musiccitycruisers3863 My Father patched the cracked part and reinforced the back end with some C-channel! Its almost done.. just waiting to sand blast it and get it repainted.
