Unfortunately, not all of us were financially literate early. I was 35 when I finally educated myself and started taking steps. I went from $176,000 in debt with zero savings or retirement to now, 2 years later, fully debt-free and over $1000,000 net worth. I know that doesn't SOUND like a lot, but I'm incredibly proud of it. Now I'm fast-tracking my wealth building (investing $400,000 annually) and don't owe a dime to anyone. It's a good feeling!

If a toddler is hitting their friend with a toy, or pulling your hair, you don't ignore the behaviour. You correct it. Purely "positive" dog training is at the other end of an extreme. Dogs do not need to be treated gentler than a small child. It needs to be balanced and dogs need to be told to STOP many types of unwanted, unacceptable behaviour, then follow through with all the positive stuff.

and yet did you see ANY punishments being given in this video?

oooft that crate was FAR too small by a long shot :/ don't understand how anyone can think that a space their dog literally can't even stand up in is enough room.

One thing I can't understand: roommates or husbands or wives repeatedly emphasize that they don't want a pet in their home, inform them that they are not ready for it, then the other party comes home the next day with the pet in their arms, after which they have great resentment that the family member who objected is unwilling or unable to take care of the pet. In my opinion, such a selfish attitude should be more clearly condemned. In most of the cases presented, these animals should end up in good hands and not be kept and trained just because one person wants it that way regardless of the opinion of the rest of the family.

All dogs need to be trained regardless of the owners and family members. Even if you didn't want the dog, at least don't encourage any negative behaviour.

I don't understand this resistance to telling a dog NO! when it is exhibiting bad behaviour. Just say NO, or STOP, (I use a sharp Agh Agh sound), then follow through on redirection. Why would you tolerate a dog nipping you all over for any amount of time by simply ignoring it and turning around. Tell the dog to stop first!

I get the turning around - if it's play, then you have to NOT play and lower the energy. Telling them NO won't always work then - you 'tell' them by not going along. But it depends on the situation. If my dog goes for something I don't want her to (like a bird) you bet a say STOP.

Yeah the issue is this usually devolves into owner just yelling at their dog who feeds off that energy and gets more and more agitated and wound up. The closest Victoria got in this video to doing that was by going 'uh!' but most of it was negative reinforcement rather than punishment.
