Nice video Roy, the new trains are a Class 730 also known as an "Aventra", the previous units were a Class 323 train and are remembered quite fondly by train enthusiasts and they are now operating for Northern Trains. You can in fact see them in your video, at 24:12
Great video i often catch the worcester Foregate to Blackpool North via New street Avant trains are good. Even better if delayed like last time but got my full money back for the journey.
Caught up a bit with your videos now, Roy. Enjoyed this one. I'll confirm what others have said in that your local trains are Class 730 Aventra units built by Alstom. Interesting you should say those diesel locos look as thought they have flat roofs. They are known as "sheds".
