The Phalanx is a phenomenal monument. As much as the 40K universe's equivalent to the Seven Wonders of the World would be more like seven hundred, this monolith of the Age of Technology is definitely one of those - at least for the Imperium, alone. The Departure Hall, as but the first specific example, would take how long to traverse as a pedestrian, from end to end? Sounds immense, modern Earth town-sized to have its own climate system...which might be induced by all of the exhaust and emissions from the huge numbers of vehicles harbored within. Presumably, this home base's Arena Restricta is the largest of the multiple versions of such a gladiatorial pit that the golden boys installed throughout their fleet. As well as this flagship's collection of weaponry and relics presumably being the most prestigious and highly honoured of all those aged arsenals. A lot of trophies. I guess when your legion-to-chapter's mega-mansion affords all of that display space, have at it. What else would astartes decorate with, after all? Being Sons of Dorn, the Fists don't neglect the human-defining artful adornments (pun intended) to their history, at least. Has the unuseful Observatory been since reopened after being sealed by a chapter master, even if not used for audience purposes? From what I understand through this tour, Archivists of the Imperial Fists' Librariums are veritable non-people, or as comparable to fully-human servitors in class or caste. Flesh and blood recording implements. Unique to the Fists among the legions? Or they are, solely in name only, but not function? The Panpsychicon is a...curious feature construct of the Phalanx that induces apprehension. It's a place that comes across as having been designed by both the Inquisition and the Crusade-era Mechanicum. Or even relatable to an area one might discover aboard a Blackstone Fortress, but nevertheless it hails from the Dark Age of Technology. At least, the ominous chamber feels that way, along with being an unexpected inclusion by primarch Dorn. My interest at scouring over cross-sections and similar portrayals of enormous, complex 'things' has simply continued since my childhood. The images in profile of this mega-mini-moon-world's exteriors are interesting to gaze over. That huge chamber scanned over after 5:40 however stands out for its solemn, cavernous cathedral-district bearing, yes, another unique atmosphere. Why have the multiple areas that incurred damage during the War of the Beast not been repaired, though? Simply due to practicality of unavailable manpower? Losses of Phalanx integrity to time and perpetual warfare, such as the Scriptum Ascenda, are inevitable yet still unfortunate for the sake of history. It's in a class of its own. To compare it with other IPs' amazingly massive man-made constructs of outer space travel just doesn't fit because this thing is, like Blackstone Fortresses are, so distinctly Warhammer. The scale, sheer size is in and of itself daunting to the logistics of a rational human mind, as you say, Narrator. The number of years it would have taken to build the Phalanx from inception to completion. The total number of humans required to be dedicated to its construction. Dyson sphere, be damned - meet far-future peak humanity's efforts. I can certainly find your impulse agreeable, GDN - with more details hence revealed about the Phalanx, that only opens up the possibilities for campaign/legion narratives and the desire to see or listen to those on record. So with that exhaustive introductory episode shifting focus and my own wordy response...thank you muchly for this very interesting follow-up, Narrator. I'm excited to find out all that can be conveyed about the other legions' headquarters. Until next weekend's continuation, I bid you have a healthy and awesome next week. The Emperor protects.
Oh yeah the phalanx tour was awesome GDN 😎👍 still love the Art work what you can get, At 1:44 I like how it looks like a golden fortress also it's microenvironments and artificial environments makes this fortress really stand out, and huge paintings and banners is what I like about Warhammer 40k monasteries because they show the battles --themselves like my first space Marine codex book I got when I was younger I've always like the art, plus those huge epic docks that could keep the Pontius in "I" could imagine Seeing going inside.and unloading space Marines plus weapons and supplies, plus with all the marvel And Mosaic makes it look like a Grand Gothic Manor."
