  • “Is my Cooling Fan the same as my Radiator Fan?
Welcome to Mercie J Auto Care, Where Compassion and Craftsmanship Come Together. I'm Rick Smith, ASE Certified Master Technician.
First of all let’s make sure we clarify what we mean by “cooling”. The cooling system on the car is what keeps the engine from overheating. You have a fan inside the car typically behind the glove box and that’s called a blower fan. That’s what keeps you and your passengers comfortable. Out by the front of the car we also have one or more fans. On many trucks we have a fan clutch which is mechanically driven by the engine. On most cars we have one or two electric fans just behind the radiator. An electric fan may be called a cooling fan, radiator fan, or condenser fan. For all practical purposes they all do the same thing which is draw air through the condenser and radiator. So the short answer is yes the cooling fan and the radiator fan are the same thing.

Question: My car only has 1 fan installed currently, but it has space for a 2nd fan beside it (I imagine is the AC part, since the radiator part is more important) and I'm wondering if the AC system would be affected by that? Thanks!

these fans... can they run silently ? suppose i dont use them for cooling radiators but for ventilation, they seem to capable of creating static pressure and S blades for quieter operation compared to straight blade fans...
I am thinking of buying a 12v version, powering it with an 4amp DC adapter and expect 28watts of "not so loud operation" that can be used as a push fan . you think that might work? the cheapest i can find is 35$+shipping so help me out if that s a good idea.

I have a question. In nissan sunny 2007. while sitting in a drivers seat, where would the 7 blade and 5 blade position? mine is currently 5 on the right and seven on the left from driver seat view. I doubt its misplaced. Or it would not make any difference?

2010 dodge challenger RT Classic 5.7. Mine has two but can I buy two of the same fans or does each one require a different fan? Like the one you showed looks like two different fans.

Hello, Thanks for the video, I would like to ask if replacing the radiator fan, is it important to go for orginal part or go for a cheaper aftermarket part. I have a Ford.

I know people make Peltier air coolers/heaters for cars. Has anyone boosted motor cooling by having a 12v peltier powered array heat exchange coil inside the return hose? Is that a good idea, radiators are kind of heavy?

I have a Camaro 2015 LS and I have a two fan system (like the one on 1:24). Only one of them (the driver side one) turns on when my A/C is on. The other one does not. I only see it turn on when the heater is on. I already replaced two relays (K613 and 44. Low fan relays).
In order to have both fans on at the same time, do I have to fix something else? I noticed all this because my A/C would blow at room temp or so whenever I would idle for a while but get cold again when I drive

I took out the relays to my radiator fan and it stays on with or without them being plugged in with the engine shut off. I have to unplug my battery in order to keep the fan from running out the battery. Is the fan supposed to run with its relays unplugged?

I have a 2017 Subaru Outback 3.6L R Limited. Both fans got extremely hot and melted just about everything in the Cooling Fan Shroud. they were mounted to including the fan blades. The fan motors were fused to the Cooling Fan Shroud. In less than 60,000 miles how could that happen? It left my wife stranded 50 miles from home.

1:04 “these would typically be on trucks” 2010 + NOT anymore! ALL electric fans even on all rear wheel drive vehicles. An electric motor with a lousy relay that goes out and overheats your engine once the car or truck is afew years old. Clutch lasts forever. They wanna faze out the rear wheel drives but first they wanna faze out the clutch fan because it doesn’t break down enough and they’re losing money😂

  • @SANMIAOChannel

Your respond does not help. On dual fans in the engine bay, there is only one fan in the engine will run if when turned on AC. There is only one fan will run when the egine is hot.

    • @MercieJAutoCare

So, IS a cooling fan an elctrical fan and a radiator fan all the same thing? If some one says electrical fan? You did mention one fan is an elctrical fan and the other is the cooling fan.
