Back To The Future Part II - And Why We Love It

- Robert Zemeckis is known for delivering some of the most technologically impressive films of all time. Sure, he's also responsible for slightly less-impressive films as well- But today, we're here to revisit Back To The Future Part II and celebrate the brilliant adventure to the year of 2015 where cars fly, shoes tie themselves, and of course a flying skateboard is not out of the question either. In this movie, Marty McFly and his quirky best friend Doc Brown travel to 2015- a futuristic version of Marty's hometown boasts a casino owned by Biff's family, and a copy of the sports almanac that aims to make anyone who can take it back to the 80s very, very rich. It's an interesting follow-up to the classic original film and we think it's one of the most fun sequels of the 1980s. What do YOU think? Comment below!

Love this! I remember my mum taking me to see this, The last crusade, Ghostbusters 2 and Honey I shrunk the kids at the Salon cinema in Glasgow when I was around 10. Great movies at the time, great mum ❤
Oh I envy you, my mom said I would have liked to live in the 80s, The Last Crusade is my favorite Indiana Jones film.
Back to the Future 2 was my favorite of the trilogy. The flat screen TV with multiple channels, Cubs winning World Series, and 80s nostalgia really did come true.
One of the all-time great sequels and it's my favorite movie in this damn near perfect trilogy.
It's far from perfect but still immensely entertaining
Greatest Trilogy ever, love all 3
Dont forget, the guy that said he wish he could put money on the Cubbies, was the actor that voiced Roger Rabbit, another Zemekis classic
It's amazing how many things Back To The Future 2 actually did get right about life in 2015; drones, hoverboards, entirely CGI films, pointless sequels, 80s nostalgia, smart phones, fingerprint identification, flat screen tvs, watching multiple channels on 1 tv at once, face time calling, robot servers at restaurants, self tieing shows (though they only exist because of this film), A.I. in machines, & The Chicago Cubs winning The World Series (although, they were 1 year off with that 1).
Did we get hoverboards in 2015? Or even now? Hovercraft maybe but definitely not hoverboards.
There's a vehicle parked in the town square that looks similar to self driving cars. This movie is definitely bizarre in how much was predicted.
Yes hoverboards are a real thing although I think they were discontinued because people were hurting themselves while using them
There is an 80s site where you can get the board and the jacket I forgot the sites name
Right!? If thats hovering then i guess my cars a hovering car, and i just saw a kid on hovering skates! The futures here people!
Back To The Future Part II is the best sequel of all time because they actually go back into the first movie and the special effects are amazing for that time and still are 35 years later. 😻
The release of that movie is a landmark memory for myself as well,I even remember the weather. It snowed that night despite being November. The almost five years between movies was a lifetime at that age
I know a lot of people don't like sequels, but BttF Part II is one of the exceptions for me that are better than the original.
Best time travel movie ever made and I don't thing it can ever be topped.
Marty McFly: [arriving in 1955] Oh, this is heavy, Doc. I mean, it's like I was just here yesterday.
Doc: You were here yesterday, Marty.
It's cute to see a younger Elijah Wood in the 80's Cafe. Also, as a child, I never noticed that they'd recasted Jennifer from Claudia Wells to Elisabeth Shue, likely because of how long it had been between films. It's more noticeable if you want them back to back, and it was admirable of Claudia to opt not to return, since she had to care for her sick mother.
My mother actually liked Elisabeth Shue better than Claudia Wells, Shue was more expressive like when she reacts when Doc appaered and warned her and Marty about their kids.
You have to use your hands?
That's like a baby's toy.
all three parts are perfect!
I love all 3 movies, but 1 and 3 were definitely my favorite. Probably because it's easier to re-create the past and come up with an interesting story, rather than trying to imagine what the future will be like.
Even though 2015 is long gone and we still haven’t got any hoverboards, it’s always nice to see how the future is portrayed in movies with specified dates
One of the best sequels ever made
Truly the Empire Strikes Back of the trilogy!
It was even darker, with that alternate from 2015, Marty's dad was killed, Doc in jail, Lorraine married Biff, it showed us the alternatives, also letting us in cliffhanger of what happened to Doc.
Trivia note: During the hoverboard chase scene, when the stunt doubles of the 4 teens crashed into the Courthouse, the female blonde stunt double actually got seriously injured from the glass & the fall, so she sued the studio & won a sum of money for her injuries.
You had me tripping for a few seconds. I watched BTTF II at a theater in Brookhaven, PA. I think the theater closed in the early 1990s, but I found the box office sign still intact on the side of the beer store that's in the building now
My wife and I love these movies we hope they'll never get remade or rebooted
If you haven't already, look of the comic mini series "Biff To The Future" which shows what Biff did after he was given the almanac by his future self & created the alternate 1985.
The greatest movie in the greatest trilogy of all time
The final act where they return to the first film from a different perspective is still mindblowing. Brillianty executed
I saw 2 when it came to VHS just before 3 came out at the movies. Saw 3 at toombul cinema in Brisbane Australia with my mum and brother, loved it! They are smashing that place down right now 😭😭😂
It was a great movie sequel to back to the future and the third one was just as good as the first two. Everything was perfect. Robert zemeckis did a great job with the franchise. And Alan silvestri did the best score with the back to the future trilogy as well as other great movies we love that made us love them.
*minute **9:44** Justice for Crispin Gl0ver = Ge0rge MC Fly*
It's the most fun movie to watch in the franchise i would love to live in that future flying cars hoverboards
Number 2 was my favorite of the three by far - loved the alternate reality stuff.
Though 2015 is now in the past, it's still fun to see the filmmaker's futuristic depiction of that era.
Yeah I remember been in 2015, watching this movie on October 21, watching how many things from that future (now past), became reality, a lot of these things did, even years later.
#2 is my favorite of the trilogy ❤
BTTF2 will always be my favorite and it's the best one out of the trilogy. Nobody can't tell me otherwise.
Part II is my personal favourite but the trilogy is just so good that I genuinely love all 3 films! 👍😎
This is why modern science fiction stories don't use dates anymore
You can no longer tell whether the future is near or actually distant
The family dinner scene is honestly an incredible example of how talented of an actor Michael J Fox is I mean come on the fact that he can play Marty as a teenager, Marty as a middle aged man, Marty Jr AND Marlene is absolutely amazing and honestly puts most modern actors to shame especially ones in their mid to late 20s which is the age he was during the production of the trilogy
The most consistent and best trilogy in cinema.
I remember a kid at my school swore they you could buy a hover board down Romford Market 😂
Hahaha we all knew that kid in school 😂
That was probably the same kid that said that his uncle had a night rider car
It's kind of spooky watching Marty trying to play the guitar in his mid 40s and his hands are bothering him and in real life he has Parkinsons in his hands. 😮😢
1. It's not often sequels hold up to the original, but this does. Thank you 1980s.
2. IMVHO this one is the best of the trifecta. The next one is inventive but I'm not really into the story. That said, it is the perfect wrap.🤩
3. The stunt woman that flew into the glass window partially missed and injured her arm.
4. Michael J. Fox also played Marty's daughter.
5. Sammy Hagar, "I can't drive 55"😎
6. Good thing Biff shoots like a Star Wars stormtrooper🤣
7. The tunnel at the end is the same one they used for Tune Town in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit"
5. Sammy Hagar, "I can't drive 55" hell yeah!!!
When that trailer for Part 3 popped up I 🤯
Dude, I also saw BTTF 2 at Brookhaven theater!! I miss that place!
I saw you there. You stole my popcorn and called me “Butthead”
I’ve since forgiven you. 😂
"Those boards don't work on water!"
I always forget that crispin was replaced.
The whole trilogy is earnestly timeless.
Minute 9:11 Claude Wells = Elizabeth Shue
Jennifer MC Fly
@zv3456u- You forgot about Melara Hardin who was also cast as Jennifer too!🤗👍🙋🕵
One of my fav sequels!
I remember that most movies back in the 70s and 80s had dystopian visions of the future. They were bleak and desolate. BTTFII had a fun and peaceful future that gave hope to viewers and was really a future that we would WANT to live in.
my favourite part, because its has part 1 and 2 in it....
I loved going back to the events in the 50s and trying to succeed without messing up the past timeline
I love how the first movie could be a stand alone movie but that the sequels were still decently made continuations of that film.
This film has three different DeLorean time machines co-existing on November 12, 1955: the one that Marty used in the first film, the one that Biff used to travel from October 21, 2015 and the one that Marty and Doc used to travel from October 27, 1985 in the alternate time-line and later a fourth the one hidden in the mine by Doc waiting for Marty to use.
I knew of a Back to the Future 3 , two years before they pt 2 came out. I miss "A Hollywood Minute" from Headline News.
In terms of a sequel back to the future, part two doesn’t get enough love I genuinely believe it’s one of the best sequels of all time definitely in the top 25 to 20 to me vastly improved on the first movie maybe not surpassed it but it’s damn near close
I used the inflation calculator: $40 million in 1985 would be $116.5 million in 2024!
One of the best sequels of all time. Maybe not quite on an Empire Strikes Back, Terminator 2, or Godfather 2 level. But not far off!
I've never seen this movie in this entirety 😮
It’s never too late!
It turned into Universal Studios most all time favorite ride at the time. Back to the Future 2 is more than a cult classic.
As a 13yo at the time, I couldn't wait for the sequel. I was sooo curious about what 2015 would be! Now as a almost 50 yo!!! I am amazed at even the thought of flying cars.. It would be a disaster waiting to happen LOL
I like Part II the best because they go into the future, though the first one is the best one of the three and the best acting.
Absolutely Perfect trilogy. BTTF2 is a masterpiece. it really takes everything from the first film and dials it up to 11 and then some with the perils of time travel. the alternate 1985 scenes are wild and super dark. my only nitpick is the trailer for BTTF3 tacked on at the end. it really should have just ended with the 1955 doc and marty and cut straight to the credits. 1989 was truly an awesome year for going to the movies Lethal Weapon2 , The final Indiana Jones movie, James Bond, Batman, etc. Good Times!!!
This was always my favorite one. I love the 1st one but Marty's mom chasing him still creeps me out.
This has always been my personal favourite of the Back to the Future trilogy. It's a very underrated entry but also hold a very controversial place in history with the Crispin Glover lawsuit issues regarding the actors likeness used without his permission. It was also the first time having a back to back sequel with part 3, which wasn't that common back then
Plus the massive plot hole of how old Biff knew how to work the time machine
Been a bad week. I really needed this today. Thx!
Every time he says "hereafter," I think he's talking about the afterlife 😂
back to the future the whole franchise was just one big foreshadowing
I really like the Back to the Future series. Though after watching them so many times, it does get kind of old how each movie rhymes with each other when you watch them back to back. The whole "chicken" thing and other repeated things in the movies.
I loved BTTF2 when it came out, even got some of the merchandise for it (the small hot wheels cars).
I still feel the original is the better picture I give this movie credit for doing something I hadn’t seen before. Ending with a big cliffhanger for a film that was already in the works. Plus having a trailer for that next movie play right before the credits roll. Movies now can do that because with things like the MCU they plan these movies out way ahead of time so a movie like Infinity War can end with a giant cliffhanger and everyone is used to it but back then not at all.
Somehow this is the first I'm learning that MJF played his future daughter.
I thought it was a random background actor who appeared in the previous film.
What rock were you living under that you never noticed it was MJF.
Maaan... I watch too much wrestling. I thought you were talking about....
....never mind.
Saw it at Patchouge 13. Only a few towns over!
The sequel was surprisingly dark which is what I like about it in retrospect. The whole alternate 1985 with his mom being an abused alcoholic and his dad being essentially murdered and Biff getting away with it.
I hope we will have flying cars in 2015 that would be Amazing Awesome Fantastic.
Lol I literally just watched the entire trilogy just the other day. Starting with the 2nd as its always been my favorite, then the first to tie it in with the 2nd and finished it off with the 3rd, my least favourite, but still a great movie. It will always be one of my all time favourite trilogies, with LOTR, die hard and Indiana Jones.
5:45 The VFX still hold up on their own.
I was also 8 when this came out. 👍🐻
BTTF Trilogy is one of the best
Like the OT Star Wars and The Godfather trilogy
I might have watched BTTF trilogy 1000x
BTFFP2 was the first film I saw in a cinema, it was meant to be Ghostbusters 2 but that was sold out when we arrived. I was glad it was my first but man I was disappointed when I saw GB2 and there was no tailer for GB3 at the end!
People complain that they went back to 55 but it's not Hangover 2. Where it was literally the first movie just a different character.
It's been 9 years & we still ain't wear them goofy looking future clothes?
I'm a HUGE BTTF fan and for me all 3 parts are the same movie, i never saw them as sequels but as one single movie.
Wait... Michael J Fox played his future daughter?!? Mind blown!!!
Back to the Future(1985) borrowed some ideas from Francine Pascal's 1977 novel Hangin' Out With Cici.
I do like pt2 but I love one and three❤🇦🇺
I saw this at the Brookhaven multiplex when it came out too. I wonder if we were in the same theatre
When is Max Spielberg going to direct? 😅😊
Two was kind of maligned when it first came out, but I have always thought it was brilliant. The only thing that bothered me the first time I saw it was Marty's flying off the handle when someone calls him "chicken," but of course, it was needed as a plot device. As an 80s kid, I went "yeah right," over the prospect of flying cars, but I did think we'd have something like the hover cars in Star Wars by now or at least more viable alternate fuel sources (like garbage). George McFly's character was going to be bigger in II until he flaked out and refused to be in it so the story had to be changed and they focused on Biff and the sports betting angle. Then, as we all know, III wrapped things up in a nice, tidy bow. The teaser trailer at the end of II was brilliant, but at the time some people whined that II was basically an ultra-long trailer for III. Whatever.
That was Micheal J Fox in drag??? Damm…he looked fine asf lol
Their predictions were so off LOL
I remember hearing that there's a lady selling pit bulls. Didn't know they were dogs yet
The one weak point of bttf 2 is the treatment of Jennifer. I get that they were stuck in a corner to involve Jennifer, but they could have done something better than knock her out and put her in the alley, put her in the swing… even getting kidnapped by old biff and take her through time would have been interesting
I do like that the homes in the future still feel fairly modern… glad they didnt go too over the top and the homes look like they were on the Jetsons
Great Scott how is it not perfect?
I’ve never seen any of BTTF sequels, only the prequels. Are they any good ?
The creators of this film admitted they based the Alternate 1985 Biff on Donald Trump. Take that as you will.
he... said that in the video.
Its amazing they did it without the lead actor. Wonder how it would have went.
Ill always dislike that actor for saying no.
Yeah, driving on the ground is dangerous enough. Imagine some drunk idiot crashing his flying car through your home's roof at 3 AM, crushing you in your bedroom as you slept. Yeah, publicly available flying cars are a recipe for disaster.
👍👍👍🎥
3:00 The cost of gas? Mr. Fusion would power them. The fuel cost (and environmental impact of the fuel) would be non-existent.
I think they should have hired other actors to play Marty's kids instead of using Michael as it's kind of weird when you've watched the movie many times over.
You keep saying this word, "hereafter". I do not think it means what you think it means.
That's what I was going to say! Hereafter means where you go when you die! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Anybody want a peanut? 😜😜
I doubt this movie was made for me as a seven-year-old, but I hated it in theaters. I still hate it now as an adult. All style, no substance.
It's the most complex of all the movies. It runs dangerously close to being campy and stupid. But I've grown to love and understand Back to The Future Part II a lot more. If you understand that they were trying to make 2 and 3 into their own separate causality loop from the original film, it's a lot better
They should allow a reboot. It's not like this is some sort of sacred franchise especially when it only became a series because the creators wanted more money.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yep.. once you ignore the massive plot hole ( HOW THE HELL DID OLD BIFF KNOW HOW TO WORK THE TIME MACHINE AND WHY DIDNT MARTY HEAR HIM TAKE IT.) it;s a very entertaining and amusing film.
it's not that hard as he probbaly see dates on the panel and figured out quickly how it works
He had all the time in the world to figure it out.
Well, he already knew how to drive a car, and the time circuits are clearly labelled. It's not (exactly) rocket science!
@@cartoonfan959 yeah but this is biff we're talking about
@@dr.snakes umm no he only a few seconds while marty wasn't looking.
