  • Last week we went through how to adjust your headlights. Now with them properly adjusted, lets go through how to put some fresh luminosity on the road!
    This video is specific to the models with OEM HID/ Xenon D4S bulbs but can be applied to the Sport and Touring Models with the oem halogen bulbs, you will just need to get the correct low and high beam bulb for your model.
    No special tools required for this install. The install will be easier with the wheels removed but it is not necessary.

    How much brighter are these from stock? I got diode dynamic 6000 and they were awful and hard to see at night and dim.

    • @DariusBuildz
      @DariusBuildz  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They are about the same as a brand new stock bulb. Going from 4300k to 6k bulb is the biggest difference as now you have a bright white light and not that hint of yellow from the oem bulbs. The Morimoto bulbs also come with a 3 year warranty.

    I have gotten the covers polished in and out but headlights still dim. Will changing the HID be the solution?

    • @DariusBuildz
      @DariusBuildz  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the bulbs are 4+ years old, they probably need to be switched. After so many hours of usage, the hid bulbs color fade and the lumens decrease. I switched mine out for led bulbs on a video I did a few months back. They are just as bright as the hid’s and only cost about $60.

      Give it a look and see if that’s the route you want to tank. The bulbs were a pain to get in with the headlights in the car.

    • @DariusBuildz
      @DariusBuildz  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I get my clockwise and counter clockwise mixed up on occasion 😂. Do whatever motion I did and not what I said 😆. 5500k to 6000k is definitely my preferred temp range for HID and LED Bulbs!

      @@DariusBuildz sounds good! My friend and I postponed the job until tomorrow evening. I ended up getting the D4S 35w bulbs with 8000k. It was a match for the 2014 Mazda6 on Amazon. The dealership wanted to charge $510 to replace both bulbs. Hoping it’s only the bulbs and not the ballast or igniter. Sometimes the headlight works and others it doesn’t. It’s a new thing as of this week.

    does the morimoto bulb output both low and high beam?

    • @DariusBuildz
      @DariusBuildz  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In this single bulb HID/xenon hi/low setup, the bulb only has one setting. For high beam, the shield drops, allowing the bulb to reflect off of more of the reflector bowl to allow the light beam to spread more.

    • @DariusBuildz
      @DariusBuildz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As they age, them dim and color shift. I guess unless you have a lumen meter is really no way to know, but your eyes ( for the most part) is a good judge of brightness

    • @DariusBuildz
      @DariusBuildz  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Atleast we don’t have to remove the front bumper and the headlight to change the bulbs. That’s pretty much standard now across the board.

  • @Dannyd2134
    @Dannyd2134 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I would of liked a before and after image, looking to change the bulbs on my car....... But not sure if they will be any brighter..... Do you have an after video of the lights at night? 👍

    • @DariusBuildz
      @DariusBuildz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fair point, but it is so hard to get an accurate representation since the Go Pro adjusts and tries to keep everything the same and I don't think there is a override for manual settings. My bulbs were oem, so they were 6 years old, so they were possibly on the brink of going out and they were starting to color shift. I don't have any video at night, and my windshield is tinted so the video wouldn't be accurate from inside of the car.

    Can you completely get rid of hid and replace with like Led bulbs if so do you know the part number?

    • @DariusBuildz
      @DariusBuildz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The thing would be finding an adapter for the plug that plugs into the ballast and finding a LED bulb that goes into the D4S bulb socket. Those are going to be your obstacles. And even then, in terms of brightness, you will be moving backwards as the HID bulbs has more lumens that the LED's

    I'm trying to buy the Phillips Extreme Vision D4S Bulbs but some of the websites I'm looking at have pictures with D2S bulbs when purchasing the D4S. Are they interchangeable with the Mazda xenon headlight assembly?

    • @DariusBuildz
      @DariusBuildz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the d2s bulbs are not interchangeable. A lot of the websites don't post accurate photos and may use a stock photo. When it doubt of what you are ordering, you can just email them to make sure you are getting the correct bulb, or cross reference the bulb model number to make sure it the correct one.

    • @DariusBuildz
      @DariusBuildz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@saifhassan9673 I have seen plenty and written plenty of reviews. The "brightness" of the bulb can be manipulated to look brighter with the ISO settings in any camera or decent editing app which is exactly what a lot of manufactures and sellers do to get more sells as well as they put false claims about how many lumens the bulbs really are. I am well aware. However, this is not a bulb review video. This is a install / replacement video with an OEM equivalent replacement bulb, so you can expect OEM like performance with a tad less yellow and a tad more pure white.
