Farewell Marianne, may your spirit fly free amongst the stars! XX
I worked near Goodge Street back in the day..... Never heard this one before. The haunting Marianne Faithfull great as always.
As a Ronstadt faithful...if it wasn't for TH-cam how many artists from back in da day would we have forgotten bye now...to include Ronstadt's pre '74 stuff...Marianne before the drugs and The Stones destroyed her Angelic voice...at one time she was on top of the music world and then it all came crashing down and then went back up and then back down and then back up...what a life story she has/had...I also like her after '60s voice...what a trooper...RIP Marianne
Such an icon of the1960’s, that beautiful voice. Goodnight Marianne.❤
One of the most fantastic women who ever lived. Drugs destroyed her voice. Thank God for videos.
As a teenager in the 60s, I had a tremendous crush on Marianne. She was so pretty and had such a beautiful voice and she was British which made her seem exotic to an American. LOL
Jewish - mother was Eva von Sacher-Masoch, Baroness Erisso of Hungary - not exactly British.
Me too squire.
@@lesselp she's English. She was born in Hampstead. The last I heard last year she was living in Putney. She has British citizenship. It has never been revoked and why should it be?
Everything about her screams English. She's not a foreigner.
@@lainey3612 Jewish network camouflages well but remains aloof from the natives. You probably think James Bond and Harry Potter are played by Brits.
@@lesselp wow. This is nasty stuff. The ‘Jewish network?’ How about ‘The Grateful Embracemnt of Humanity’s Diversity’ network?
Goodnight sweet Marianne.
what a trippy '60's song
Marrianne said she would like to try everything once. I'm still waiting!
Perfection and one of Donovans best songs.
Her voice was goodgeous.
*gorgeous
@@heliotropezzz333
sunny-goodgeous.
@@cbranalli I get it.
Marianne at her best
great song with candy vocals ...very enchanting
Yeah. This is the saddest version of "Sunny Goodge Street" ever recorded; it seems to be begging the question, WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN "FUN" ISN'T FUN ANYMORE? Nobody was better at being sweetly sad and wistful than Marianne was.
Shivers...amazing..purity.. innocence...beauty,, Donovan...Bliss
very poetic.... and accurate.... I've never heard or seen a woman like her.
This is a beautiful record
Sone people wished she stayed like this
The opera version of this song is magnificent
Her voice is pure.
Wow her voice is Beautiful here.
rest in peace beautiful Marianne ❤
back again to listen to Marianne✌😎
RIP Marianne...... 💔🌿🌹
Beautiful rendition, what a smooth, silky voice!!
Just perfect 60s
What an IDIOT I AM? The comment below- it's mine. Still holds, I am enthralled with her new release, her beloved Romantic poets. I doubt Marianne would title her channel with "apparent conceit" ! But then she doesn't seem the sort to indulge in false modesty! Whoever you are, YOU DO HAVE SUPERLATIVE TASTE. If you haven't yet saved your pennies and bought, SHE WALKS IN BEAUTY, I strongly recommend the disc. Here voice is still mesmerized just in a richer, more experienced way. I doubt I'll have the luck to see her in concert now, her health isn't up to touring very far ie. North America. But, Marianne is a SURVIVOR, bless her. I need her more than ever; her male counterpart, Leonard Cohen sadly roves with a another Marianne...Namaste, Z.
Great 60s song,.oñe óf her clever songs by donovan a lot of meañing xx
this song came out the yr i was born, finally got to see her perform live in Toronto 38 yrs later, what an incredible night i had standing in the front row watching this woman perform at age 60
Once again my dreams came true with Marrianne Faithful
Magnifique!!!
So nice Marianne !
What a pretty voice she had!!!.
Love You Ms Faithful
Timeless..........🔄
........
THANKS for posting this -- it's stunning!
Not heard this version before, lovely! :)
Nice photo below of Marianne Faithful and Mick Unfaithful!!!!
love the song love Marianne love Donovan love love love
Love her version of Ballad of Lucy Jordan too.
I spend a lot of time in Goodge St
How very beautiful.
a very cool version of this song written by the first stoner of the 🌎 world Donovan😎
Judy Collins I think.
From Donovan's Fairytale album, '65ish 🌻🐇🌝
Check out Tom Northcott's single which was great, but came out the same week as Sgt. Pepper's.
Yes Donovan wrote the tune indeed.
@@TheIanErc judy sang it also 1966 but Donovan wrote it (and sang it)!
On the firefly platform on sunny Goodge Street
Violent hash-smoker shook a chocolate machine
Involved in an eating scene
Smashing into neon streets in their stillness
Smearing their eyes on the crazy-colored goddess
Listenin' to sounds of Mingus Mellow Fantastic
"My, my, " they sigh
"My, my, " they sigh
In doll house rooms with colored lights swingin'
Strange music boxes sadly tinklin'
Drinkin' the sun, shining all around you
"My, my, " they sigh
"My, my, " they sigh
"My, my, " they sigh
"My, my, " they sigh
The magician, he sparkles in satin and velvet
You gaze at his splendour with eyes you've not used yet
I tell you his name is Love, Love, Love
"My, my, " they sigh
"My, my, " they sigh
"My, my, " they sigh
Pretty yet a very good singer.
Always seemed like she should have been a much bigger star.
She is still relevant and hopefully she is still making music after the covid she barely survived.
Love the harmonica track! Who is that!?
First David Lynch, now Marianne Faithfull....2025 is off to a REALLY bad start...
An Angel.........caught by evil......
😈🔥
Meravigliosa
Im back once again to hear the stoner tune once again wow lets get high Marianne
😍
I think Donovan created a new genre we could call folkjazz with this song and Get Thy Bearings and a few more. Faithful is faithful to this song about 84%. I really prefer the Judy Collins' cover.
Judy blows them all out of the water !
Lovely version. Better than Judy Collins who sounds harsh in comparison. Marianne aces it.
This song is a kinda mix of Baby , i'm gonna leave you with Gold and Silver.
❤️🌹
No autotune here
She messes up the lyrics, but still a joy to watch and listen to. She looks a bit loaded...
Jazzyyy
Exquisite femininity
Beautiful voice but she doesn't get the zeitgeist of the place and time the song was describing. It isn't about butterflies and sweetness. It's about a gritty tube station in London. Of course, it was Donovan's vision and he got it right. An amazing song for young people who wonder what the change of the world in the 60s was about.
Get higher
ARE you Lady Faithfull? I have longed to speak with you for decades-
HOW much better can it be? Dag

and your bird can sing
Sweet…almost as good as Donovan’s original…
before she was a junkie--very nice version of this --judy collins's is good too
Marie Laforet had a very beautiful vibrato voice like Faithfull. Also she had a long career with undamaged vocal chords, which were an ecstasy to listen to.
Something in the way she moves here, not THAT song, written for another lovely icon, her pensive attitude?
彼女を活かしきれなかったマネージャーは無能でしたね。
I love Marianne's voice, but this rendition has ZERO feel or emotion as relates to the subject manner. Terrible. Judy Collins, however, hit it out of the park.
not in her pop vein
