    A common job for beginners, unskilled in the intricacies of the printer's work.

    • @AntonioBoosta
      @AntonioBoosta  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, pressman or feeder we work together on changeovers and wash ups. Unskilled throw paper. Hardly anything intricate putting ink to paper. Water chemistry, roller settings, trap, registration, densities. Sure, some jobs can present some challenges here and there. It’s not rocket science. Quality control and troubleshooting. Printing isn’t what it used to be. No more using alcohol to make the water wetter.

    I enjoy these videos you’ve uploaded. I’d love to see more if and when you’d have the time or be allowed by the plant to shoot more. Is that conventional or UV ink? Also do y’all always save inks to reuse them? My pressman almost never likes for me to save ink because trash (paper dust) always gets in the fountain and can cause the keys to lock up. About the only time we do is if it’s a pms color that we know we’ll be using and might end being short on or if the other press is about to run that same color. Maybe matte varnish too. Love how big that ball is. I can tell it’s definitely easier to clean than a smaller one. Don’t have to lift up the gate for more room.

    • @AntonioBoosta
      @AntonioBoosta  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. We save inks generally but not always. 80# cis usually pretty clean. We do UV and conventional ink. Our 81inch press does regular uv and the KBA 164 does led UV. All our presses are 6color plus coating. I’ll do a wash up on our KBA 205 that ball is massive compared to this one.

    Not sure how I stumbled upon this video but...may I ask you why are you washing up a magenta? Was it contaminated, or are you changing color rotation, getting ready for a shut down, or is it a spot color that is just resembles magenta? I know this is an old video but I'm curious now; typically I wouldn't wash up a process color.

    Cleanest fountain I’ve ever seen(before you began). Is that an automatic leveller at the start of the video that’s keeping the ink that low?

    • @AntonioBoosta
      @AntonioBoosta  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is an ink sentinel. Automatically dispenses ink into the fountain. Keeps it at a set level. It also keeps track of how much ink is used per job based on the specific gravity of the inks. It's called Sentinel Pro Ink Management System.

    I just started a job a few weeks ago for 10 an hour. I set up the paper depending on the job and fill the inks manually. I work on an UV printer from Butler that was made in the 80s new to the company. I want to know if 10 bucks an hour is average for the job. There's obviously more the job entails.

    • @AntonioBoosta
      @AntonioBoosta  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure if they do or not. For the types of jobs and quantities with no need for variable artwork, conventional sheetfed printing works well. This press can run up to 17,000 sheets per hour. Although it is not nearly as fast as a web. It is much faster than digital.

    I don't think you are doing a good job if you are constantly drying the clean ductor with the rag from the very volatile solution as a thinner... Rather, you should choose the path of something half oily and half dry, but not clean, wipe the ductor and dry with force... ....the surface of the duct is degraded when you use such aggressive preparations there

    • @AntonioBoosta
      @AntonioBoosta  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The ductor is washed with the press wash automatically. The fountain ball is washed by hand. It can be integrated but we don’t do that. I don’t use acetone anymore. However when I did it was just to dry up the roller solution. As you said it is more “oily”. Not to clean any more ink or such off the surfaces.

    • @jimbrown4456

    • @AntonioBoosta
      @AntonioBoosta  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jimbrown4456 Right. However he is right to not use acetone on the press. A mostly dry rag with a little roller wash will work well as a final wipe.
