Zappa wasn't only a great composer, social commentator, and conceptual artist, he was one of the GREATEST (and unfortunately underrated) guitarists of ALL time.
+Andy Thomas Haven't heard much Zappa, but a few Captain. Saw your 2 years old comment on the other vid. Saw this solo in '93 and it was wow. Then saw it without the acid a few months later and it was double wow haha.
+Kelly14UK Another great solo, and one that's often overlooked, is the one he plays on 'Out To Get You' on the Grand Funk album he produced, Good Singin' Good Playin'! Its a bit of a stunner, beautifully contructed, it moves the thing into a whole new area. Incidentally, the opening section is Zappa, then in the middle, there is a conventional 'average rock guitar solo' section. This bit is Mark Farner. (This is a good time to make a coffee, visit the bathroom, etc.) Zappa then appears again for a blistering conclusion. Its priceless stuff. Zappa was renowned for improvising over a one chord vamp. Personally, I love to hear him soloing through a great sequence, whether its this, Out To Get You or Alien Orifice! Incidently, the Ahoy Stadium Rotterdam '82 version of Alien Orifice is Gods Own Noise!
My brother showed me how the Stone Roses' One Love guitar solo was constructed : all down the same three or four frets from E to e. Anyone who can knock out a guitar solo in front of people gets my respect. Guitar solos take me a million miles away listening to them.Cheers.Andy Thomas
Theses little amazing notes... I remember the first time I've listen to this. My brain was everywhere on the walls, screaming about colours and music. This music must be played in all bars of all country.
@Noodles37UK tie dyed guy - Mark volman. weewee poet: Howard Kaylan . A.K.A. Flo and Eddie (Both from the Turtles) Black haired girl is Lucy from the Girls Together Outrageously (GTO's) also she was Zappa's babysitter for Dweezil.
That's two songs with a Jeff Beck reference. I imagine FZ approved of Beck's guitar stylings [his shit is still unique and brilliant] so why did FZ drop Beck's name? I'll bet Jeff could tell us some stories if he wasn't working on those old cars. I miss Frank every day. His music is the best.
Holiday Inn needs to go retro with these vibrating bed coils; I need a dollar, dollar coin is what I need! (indexed for inflation, of course). If I share with you my story, will you share a Magic Finger with me? Best thing since 2-ply toilet tissue.
Who's the tie dyed guy and who's the " wee wee " poet? Who's the good looking girl with the short black hair? Finding it a bit difficult on Wiki. Thanks.
Noodles37UK He’s former Turtles lead singer, Howard Kaylan. The other singer, Mark Vollman, (fat guy with bushy long hair and glasses) was also in the Turtles. They were known as Flo and Eddie at this point because they were still under contract to their old record company and, thus, couldn’t release recordings elsewhere under their actual names or some shit like that.
John Benoit That’s Howard Kaylan- a.k.a. “Eddie”- former lead singer of The Turtles, along with Mark Vollman- a.k.a. “The Phlorescent Leech” or “Flo”- the fat guy with the glasses and bushy black hair- two of the greatest rock singers of all time.
I remembered listening to the vinyl in 76 and a few years later saw the 200 motels midnight show's in northport,NY and on this song,I remember in the movie,it seemed a whole step lower and a bit slower then the vinyl.Even back then I noticed it but the movie is the real mccoy version.future performances and recordings of this song from frank were a very fast version.
Also this was the first full length movie, shot on video, edited then transferred to film for release. Frank ran low on production funds and was unable to get the end he wanted. (Rumored to be a big concert scene using the groupie routine from the filmore East album)
Thank you, Frank, Fluorescent Leach & Eddie, and all The Mothers of Invention for some of the greatest music I've ever experienced.
Guys it’s from 200 Motels. Ringo and Zappa worked together on it
Frank + Flo & Eddie = Great Music!!!
Ringo's lines were typical Zappa social commentary, years ahead of their time, as usual.
Zappa wasn't only a great composer, social commentator, and conceptual artist, he was one of the GREATEST (and unfortunately underrated) guitarists of ALL time.
Still GREAT after all these years! So many hours n hours of fantastic music! Thank you !!!
The point at which this video cuts off is PEAK comedic timing. That was genius, whoever edited this.
One of Zappa's finest solos.

nice stuff, thanks, both of you
Theses little amazing notes...

This music must be played in all bars of all country.
A band I played in did this song ,we always had a ball doing a song so well constructed with great riffs ..
God, Aynsley's facial expressions were hilarious in this!
I LOVE THIS TUNE!
Music is the Best.
Information is
Not knowledge
Knowledge is
Not wisdom
Wisdom is not truth
Truth is not beauty
Beauty is not love
Love is not music
Music is the best...
People who enjoy this shit should get the whole movie. Dental Hygiene Dilemma is the best part of 200 Motels!
flo 'n' eddie...truly the sh*t...
Flo and Eddie 🤘🏻
Love um.
Great stuff. Wish Frank was still around. He was the best!
rmaxinmass Me too !
Following the "onion principle" of dressing, skin-tight would be just the first layer. Keeps you warm during winter.
LOL "beat you with a pair of tennis shoes I got from Jeff Beck" nobody writes good shit like this anymore...
zappa makes me want to live
and not smoke.
@@alcoholya It was prostate cancer, wasn’t it?
It's Ringo Starr, as Larry the Dwarf, as Frank Zappa.
Ringo at a reconciling Moment in Time!
Classic Zappa! Looking forward to next week at the RFH london - 40 years late! And still no apology from HRH Lizzie!
"some will disappear in the middle of the night on a train we're sending in"
The intro was more like What Will this Evening Bring Me this Morning?
Right up there with Brown Shoes Don't Make It!
Lmao! I know it too damn well that that train would have been invented for types like myself! Thank god it’s not still running in the east coast ;P
@Noodles37UK tie dyed guy - Mark volman. weewee poet: Howard Kaylan . A.K.A. Flo and Eddie (Both from the Turtles)
Black haired girl is Lucy from the Girls Together Outrageously (GTO's) also she was Zappa's babysitter for Dweezil.
This is cool! Yeah... I tell ya! :-)
brilliant
Yea he Played Larry the Dwarf, who played Frank Zappa in 200 Motels.
yeah!hiya frank man yeah, heyja man hi frank ,...,

200 Motels????
Ring Piece!
@SidVicious10101
that is eddie from the turtles lol.
His only actual appearance in the film is him playing the guitar solo
@fadethetrade Thanks!
Holy shit
I love making women assume a series of marginally erotic poses. Classic song.
flo an eddie from the turtles
Why is a large dwarf such as Ringo dressed as Frank Zappa?!
This is from the oboe they made together 200 Motels.
He made him do it. He wants him to fuck the girl with the harp.
rm 222 red ballons just pop behind my eyes
Zappa, as always oddly prescient. Open up your pocketbook, get another quarter out, drop it in the meter, Momma, try it on for size.
Is the Dog Broth bit still available on YT, thanks : )
it is "Dog Breath" and yes here is a link:
th-cam.com/users/results?search_query=dog+broth+frank+zappa
another awesome zappa solo in this.but weird sh**t at the end

Don’t know which girl you’re referring to. I didn’t see one in the video.
One of those guys(not frank) looked like Zakk Wylde. Frank Zappa is the best!!!

Don`t mention the brassiere..:0)
Song is markedly slower
Glenn Wheatcroft Actually this is the original recording. This is howard and marks vocal range on this song. The one on the vinyl is speeded up a bit.
As a vocalist myself a semi-tone can make a big difference
I remembered listening to the vinyl in 76 and a few years later saw the 200 motels midnight show's in northport,NY and on this song,I remember in the movie,it seemed a whole step lower and a bit slower then the vinyl.Even back then I noticed it but the movie is the real mccoy version.future performances and recordings of this song from frank were a very fast version.

I prefer it that way. Gives it a slightly different tone to me personally
@Noodles37UK Lucy died of AIDS in 1991
Ainsley Dunbar, Great Drummer,
second only to Keith Moon.
He is great and I would say my preference is Anysley over Moon, Bonham or Baker.
