  • This was the action from Saturday and the video include all of the locomotives including the DMU in operation on this day.
We started the day at the shed moving on to Charnwood then near Woodthorpe and on to Swithland Reservoir where I have included some aerial images. Capturing audio here was impossible due to the volume of traffic from where I was operating the drone. We then spent most of the afternoon at Kinchley Lane, moving on to Quorn & Woodhouse and finishing the day at Loughborough.
    The locomotives featured are:-
    Visitors:
    7714 from the SVR
2999 'Lady of Legend' from the Didcot Railway Centre
    Home Fleet:
    48305
    73156
    78018
    78019
    92214
6990 'Witherslack Hall' now running as 6988 'Swithland Hall'
    D6700
    DMU
I hope you enjoy the video.

Stunning 4K coverage of the event John, what a treat to see such a variety of freight wagons and in BR liveries. The selection of locos was also a tribute to the GCR.....Regards....Bob

The stock and carriages are so clean! I always wondered (just as an aside) but my memory recalls how stunningly bright the BR Carmine was on the Mk1s. I know that it and the protection of the metalwork did not weather well so maybe the modern 'red' is a darker shade for good reason?

A fine selection of shots John, enjoyable mix of steam and the odd diesel. The van train looks wonderful

Looks like you have some experienced firemen, drivers and quality coal on the GCR today, not like the last days of steam I remember at my nearest shed Frodingham further up the line which closed in 1966. Black smoke belching out because poor quality coal slack, filthy locos, that's when you could see them with steam leaking out of every gland. Halcyon days though.

I thought exactly the same - great footplate performances as well as excellent filming of a great event!

I’ve been told that fenchurch is coming to visit the Severn valley railway for next years spring gala and I’m thinking 48305 shall definitely come over here as the very first 8f to
Visit here at the Severn valley railway and of course become the second loco visitor

No stinky diesel should be included. This should be nothing but sweet-smelling steam engines, yet I'll let Mr. DMU and Bubblecar off, they're OK. Nice selection of steamies.

M8 heritage is about everything I'm not a main diesel fan but they have a right to be preserved as much as steam.

@@deathmisser85 I'm talking about the Autumn Steam Gala on the railway. Stinky diesels should not be in use on that sort of special event day. They are allowed to run on a Diesel Gala day, I agree with that, but shouldn't be in use on a Steam Gala Day.

@@kellyashfordtrains2642 I agree the set up was a bit strange as a pannier with 4-5 coaches when a 9f with what 2. But with that that 2nd Ivatt could of replaced that diesel.

Oh come on, the EE type three in green is sure a good looker and fits in well with the period.

@@kenstevens5065 On a normal day, the type three would be, but not on a Steam Gala day. No stinky diesels should be in use on a Steam Gala weekend.
