      With all the German engineers they recently hired they are looking more like German luxury cars... good for them but where's identity tho...

      Swaggypants They’re such a horrible auto maker they “hired” another auto maker! Korea can’t even make a phone that doesn’t explode. They should “hire” iPhone!

      It is obvious they want to play with the traditional big boys in this arena. I can't wait to see what the 2nd gen looks like. A terrific first effort. Go KIA!!!

      @@sergiopatel6296 so are you telling me company's only get better from the inside of the company? Let's be honest at some point people have to be hired from the outside when your company is expanding. Obviously you have no business knowledge.

      You paid $60,000 + incl. Tax for a Wannabe Audi A7, MERC. CLS, That's going to depreciate by 1/2 in 2 years? Just so you can say " I bought something that ALMOST competes with the German luxury sports brands?"

    • @jwilliams703
      @jwilliams703 6 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      I payed 46k for a Kia stinger. and it doesn't just compete with German Luxury, it smashes them. its thousands less for anything equivalent to it by Audi or BMW. name one car that comes close to it for the same price I paid. and its not a luxury. its competition is grand touring because it is a grand touring. learn the difference. Secondly I dont just buy something cool so I can say how cool it is. I am just proud of my self for being able to get something like this. This is my first purchase of a car worth this much. I earned my money by going to war for my country and by god ill spend it on what ever I want.

    Great review, albeit a few years old. I own a 2019 StingerGT-AWD3.3L and love it. I constantly get compliments and questions about it and most people have difficulty believing it's a Kia. We traded in a 2011 Optima EX for the Stinger...and although I loved the Optima I wasn't sorry to part with it. It was quickly forgotten as I drove the Stinger home from the dealer. One aspect that should be mentioned and is often left out of car reviews - Kia needs to set up their game in the after-sale service at the dealership. We live in the Niagara region of Canada and our local dealers are sorely lacking in good service. We've bought six Kias from two separate dealers and it's to the point where the Stinger will likely be the last Kia we own - despite the fact we love their vehicles. The service is just that bad.

      +KINGJADEX I think it's just how they package the cars for different markets. I do get the heated seats where I'm most of Canada they're needed but things like the 360 camera and wireless charging are a mystery to me.

      Well, for $52k (USA price of AWD GT2), looks are a big consideration. If it looked like a kleenix box, I wouldn't buy it. Personally, I like the look of it. And I've never liked how Kia's looked in the past.

    Great honest review. You already touched on what my opinion of it. It's similar. Time will tell how successful it will be. I myself, would be open to buy one. Even if it fails, there's always going to be a Genesis dealership to continue to get parts for. Good protection from it becoming a orphan car. Good work Kia!

      GroovyMotion yeah if you look at the european one its coming to canada with the 1.6T as the base motor and awd as an option or a 305 hp awd version. in the next few years their cars resale is going to skyrocket

    • @groovymotion5706
      @groovymotion5706 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris Huber, Yes the i30N but it is FWD...it is still under testing at the Nurburgring as of last week. Anyways, Hyundai/Kia needs to offer smaller cars with AWD.

    • @chrishuber8930
      @chrishuber8930 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      GroovyMotion no not the i30N. thats for europe. theres the fastback elantra in europe only with small motors that is going to come to north america as a turbo and 305 hp version with awd. thats after the veloster N with 275 hp comes to north america. i hve inside sources lol its not announced yet. also look at the kona. i thinl that would be perfect for you. higher ride height awd and a 1.6T with 180 hp

    Love the quality of the videos, quite good.
    I Only actually heard about this car recently but it's intrigued me quite a bit. It should, but wont, really surprise me people will probably not even look at it at those prices because "IT'S A KIA I COULD HAVE A GERMAN CAR FOR THAT PRICE"
    I almost hope they dont buy them, so I can snag one for super cheap if the market doesn't favor them. This car seems just about perfect for everything from all I've seen of it.

    • @Carbon_Based_Life_Form
      @Carbon_Based_Life_Form 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      WC3fanatic997 which if funny because Kia has hired quite a few of German designers and engineers. Their chief designer is one of the best, from Audi, and then another guy from BMWs M department. So Kia is a company from Korea hiring Germans to design their cars, kinda making them German in a way

    • @oldtwinsna8347
      @oldtwinsna8347 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, times have changed to the point that German built = Crap quality is common knowledge, so true enthusiasts no longer say that.

    • @Carbon_Based_Life_Form
      @Carbon_Based_Life_Form 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      oldtwins na when you people say "common knowledge"' that's just you making it up and trying to over emphasize. Proven by your comment of "'true enthusiasts" which is another made up comment.

    • @SS-ex4gq
      @SS-ex4gq 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      fredy, when you look at consumer reports regarding overall reliability, the German Giants aren't at the top anymore. It HAS become common knowledge, among people who pay attention to such things, that the term "German engineering" no longer means what it used to. Where the Germans DO still tend to dominate is luxury, and options/features.

    I kind of have to say it and give Kia credit, but seems like a very nice car. I have seen many videos and comparisons of the Stinger to other vehicles, and it actually stacks up very well against even some of the good German competitors. The Kia name just kills the overall impression of the car. I mean people think of the Kia Sephia of like 15 years ago and that was such a POS.

    The problem is it's a Kia..... Hyundai realized a top tier car (Genesis) wasn't selling well under the Hyundai brand name... Hence they split it off into it's own brand.... this will be the same scenario for this car... when it comes down to it... Chick factor Kia 0%.. BMW 100%.... They should of realized this being it is part Hyundai

    Nice car, but 50k I don't think so. It's worth maybe half that. The prices of automobiles have just become insane. In 1978 I bought a brand new house for 15000, this price is just pornographic.

      HerkimerSnerd Agreed. For the very reason you stated OK then I'm not looking for a pay raise, I just want everything to cost less. You made my point, wages have to go up to meet current relevant market prices or prices have to come down. And you are correct again you would be hard pressed to find an automobile with those features in that price range, but then again you can't live in it, and for 50 Grand in my opinion is just a frivolous waste.

Oh yeah this Stinger looks a lot like an SS sedan should have never killed it Chevy.

    I dont get people. You might as well spend 5k more and buy a used Audi rs7. That thing is a 4 door monster. They aren't in the same class, but 5k more for a much higher caliber car? Worth it. I respect what Kia is doing here, but with a price this high you're close to buying other luxury cars that'll retain their value better .

    • @TDonitrowsb
      @TDonitrowsb 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So an RS7 is about $140K new and you can buy it used now for $55k now? Don't think so... a 2014 RS7 is ONLY $65k with 120k kms, how does that hold it's value? It's a fairly fast car that has 4 doors and a hatch, has many features found on higher end cars, AWD, under $50k, reliable (according to JD Powers) and a 5 year/100k warranty. I'm sure that it's also MUCH cheaper to repair than it's German counterparts.

      Jeff Brisson lower warranty less power less features and more money. Yeah, makes sense. The Lexus competition is the Genesis g70 more luxury based and similar features most likely similar pricing. Not to mention lexus is the most far behind in terms or actual driving experience and power. Fwd based systems make the Lexus dynamics feel like the fwd camry. Hell the camry looks better now than the Lexus products, gives you near the same power and is cheaper by a lot. You are paying for the badge. If your looking for a performance car that you can drive any day through any weather. This is the cheapest rwd based sports sedan you can buy new. The 4 cylinder model is cheaper than a v6 camry with no options in the US and is just as fast. Not to mention it has luxury car looks and interior.
