- The WDR BIG BAND plays "Pregnant Walk" (composer: Eudald Payés / arranger: Ansgar Striepens) with Rita Payés (trombone, vocals). The WDR BIG BAND is conducted by Ansgar Striepens. Solos are played by Ruud Breuls on trumpet, Paul Heller on tenor saxophone. Produced as part of the concert series "WDR JAZZCLUB" at WDR Studios Bocklemünd / Cologne (September 2022).

Proving that anything can serve as inspiration, Rita's brother took her pregnant waddling and made a song out of it -- and then Ansgar Striepens expanded upon it. Rita, the band and soloists are great, per usual. It looks like Billy Test is wearing my high school class ring -- except it's not lost.

The way Rita looked at Paul during his solo was heart warming. She appreciates great musicians when she is one herself.

It's charming as hell - and Elisabeth must be sooooo proud! Ansgar wrote arrangements for compositions by two of her children :)
@@rickemmet1104 I think Joan Chamorro's cultivation of his students' delight in their mutual music making is a profound aspect of his/their success. As he says he can't guarantee a career in music but he can make sure their lives are enriched by musical experience.
They are turning out to be adventurers all, none more so that Rita. I have never heard her repeat a solo, deliver a verse without some new twist or clever insight. She is also prepared to risk and fail, a profoundly jazz sensibility, that can better progress music and make it fresh.
Yep, the whole school of SAJB students seem to love great musicianship...
