Not us, but the 5 people that complained on reddit despite probably not understanding the difference between voltage and current let alone knowing that an ampere is supposed to be...
Funny how it's the exact opposite mentality of the actual robot builders. Ray Billings, the infamous builder of Tombstone, once described the sport as "getting together with your friends and breaking each other's toys". It shows in his attitude in matches, too: the only time Ray got pissed off a loss was when he got counted out for "no translational movement" when he was sure his robot could still move around on one wheel. Yet when Tombstone gets utterly massacred, he's all smiles despite being out approximately 50 grand every time a Tombstone gets wrecked to the point of total failure.
I mean, the motor shaft is expensive, he said on the last video. all of the part accumulates into pretty expensive territory, or at least a lot more expensive than the pricetag he got. fortunately, the thing that broke this time is cheap
@Kenneth Howard You understood that wrong. He understands how it works, because it's not rocket science, it's quite simple, using concepts known to people for decades. But the parts can still be very expensive if they are CUSTOM made, which means with specific materials, specific dimensions etc. etc., something an average person couldn't get their hands on without some cad designs and a lot of money.
Have you seen Linus In his pink Honda Civic that it was barely roadworthy ? .... Have you seen repo vids where people have Escalades and cannot even afford they payments .....

to me, that is a testament of a good build though. originally i thought...'they should have replaced a keyed shaft with a splined shaft to prevent that from happening'. then i realized it was probably intentional. destroying a $1 item and losing the battle is better than destroying the next weakest part and still possibly losing the battle.

As a mechanical engineering student who's also a huge car guy it's funny how often people think a "professional" is needed to fix anything. I worked at an electric bike shop for about a year part time and my tasks usually went like this: boss says "hey take this janky bike that came is broken, try to fix it without any instructions because it's some no name one that we can't get info on" and then I just tinker with it until it works. I had ZERO previous electric bike experience going in, it's not all too complicated once you sit down and start working on something. Same thing on my car, my mom thinks it's some crazy complicated task to replace to cats or ball joints but really it's just undo some bolts then put em back in with the new part (and some swearing along the way).

Depends what needs to be replaced, like if the head gasket was blown, there is a chance that I don't have the tool to undo the head. If the brakes, some suspension parts, ect need to be replaced, it's possible to do that in a driveway with a torque wrench and a tool set with a ratchet.

That's like getting mad at someone for driving a classic car or making music on a vintage instrume- oh wait... people do that.
Are these the same folks that get mad if they see people opening collectibles? Yo, your battlebot isn't mint in box anymore, oh no.
Plus when you think about it, the more people who open collectibles, then the higher the value of the ones that weren’t opened.
