Do this type of doors open without an opener or do you always have to open it manually?

Appreciate the tutorial. I have a 9100 8 x 7 garage door kit I just bought from Lowes. I'm going to install it as soon as I get up the courage. I have a question regarding the torsion spring assembly. I have 15" from the ceiling down to the top of the opening, will that be enough room to install it? The guy at Lowes had no clue. Thanks!

Hi and thank you for appreciating our videos. As far as your question goes, 15 inches from ceiling to opening is gonna be cutting it close. But, what you can do is cut off 2 inch from the bottom of both side rails and that should get you right. Is your ceiling finished or can you see your trusses?

It's finished. I guess I could cut into it if i need too. I'm not using an automatic opener either, just operating it by hand.@@midwestkustomz6350

That was very helpful. My job is just like yours. But I'm just having to switch from Amarr to Wayne Dalton. Some of what you did was too fast. I would like to see everything from loading to finish

Hi and thank you for the nice comment. What door would you like to see it on the 9100 or the 8000?

Hi and thanks for the comment and watching. That sure did look like a rat 🤣🤣 but it was the cable roller. I lay them out on the floor and then just pull em up and hang them over the side rail. But this was a good one! I got a good laugh out of it.. It really did look like a Rat! I'm glad it wasn't because I would of been gone! Lmao!

Do you ever go back and check the bolts you set with the impact driver to see if they stripped out?
Why not use a drill with a slip clutch? I am fixing a WD door installed by a professional using an impact driver that stripped a majority of the mounting fasteners.

Hi, so I wanted to get you a good answer on this so I looked into it a bit. So I spoke with several installers and a rep from WD. All said the same including myself, the way you see me installing these doors is how it's done. If you are fixing a door that has several striped places where these bolts go in, that's definitely installed incorrect.. Not sure if he kept going on the nut after it was set or what. But we have to go out and change panels out when the get damaged by workers on the job site and none of us have ever had it where we can't replace the panel due to the holes being striped out. They always go back together in the same holes just like the beginning. Hopefully this helps.

@@midwestkustomz6350 Most impact guns have no limiter on the amount of torque they can apply. I am surprised WD thinks impact guns are OK for this. I will be trying some rivet nuts to fix my door as I don't trust the installers will make this any better.
