No ONE would Know the SHRIMP is a CASHEW... I recently have been eating a LOT of cashews lately and after I recently made some cashew cheese It dawned on me how soft and pliable cashews can get... I thought that would be a perfect shrimp texture... SO I ran with it and I am so glad I did because this came out incredible. This vegan shrimp from cashews is almost indistinguishable from real shrimp... except being a bit more firm.. haha
This was my first attempt with no testing beyond what you see here, so if you have any ideas on how to make the vegan shrimp better make sure to let me know... Im thinking about maybe boiling them? Thoughts?

Really enjoy your channel. As a vegan (30+ years) and a chef, your creations have been quite unique and refreshing. Thank you.
Glad you like them thank you so much!!!!
What, 30 years already vegan!? Thank you very much for your commitment in this regard. I wish you all the best and health and pay you my respect and tribute!🫡👍
Hmmm... the cashews might get softer if, after soaking, they were also boiled. This is a really great idea, though.
I think boiling them is the next part of this trick!!! Great idea!
Yea, I was wondering if boiling them would do the same. 🤔
NEVER BOIL YOUR CASHEWS, you'll thank you!
Just kidding :p
@@SauceStache
@@StatusQuonald LOL!
I see what you did there. ;-)
Also thought about that. Surprised Mr stauche didnt do it
Hey Saucy, after you, soak them overnight. Boil them again for about 30 minutes. A rapid boil. I don't know how you feel about meat tenderizer. A lot of people get mad at me for using it. But I find that works on lagooms and other food items. Not just meat.
If you're trying to make this a bit more shrimp-like, you could add a good bit of Old Bay seasoning to the flour, and maybe sprinkle on a bit more when the nuts come out of the oil. Not _too_ much, of course; we're not trying to drown everything in Old Bay. But for us east coasters, there's a strong association between certain seafoods (shrimp, crab, lobster, etc.) and Old Bay.
Seafood ain't right without the Old Bay. I put it in potato salad , anything I flour n fry. Well I put it in most stuff. I'm from Bmore.
I have everything to make these! I have the cashews, I have the kombu, I have the chili sauce, I have the rice wine vinegar, I have the agave, I have the mayo, I even have the beet root powder! I'm making these!! I haven't had shrimp since I went vegan! Thank you!!!
How shrimpy does it taste without the sauce? My mom is allergic to shrimp and I was thinking maybe this might be a good way to try and give her some "shrimp" that she can actually have.
This would not taste very much like shrimp
I'm gonna try making them as coconut shrimp!
In Chinese/Asian supermarkets, there's vegan shrimp powder broth.
There you go again, blowing my mind. Can't wait to try this!
It's so good!! I cant wait for you to try it either!
For a softer bite maybe blanch the cashews first in the marinade , let them cool in the liquid before dredging and a frying.
I didn't know such cashews existed. Thanks for the education. Also what a genius idea. I could eat a whole bowl of it. Looks wise, it's a ten. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you soo much!! these came out great I hope you enjoy them!
You make fun, tasty and modern day dishes in the kitchen - love it!!!
Never seen cashews this big. This man is a wealth of knowledge.
What a cool idea!!! Wow, they look so tasty. Im imagining eating them with some fried rice
The idea reminds me of cashew chicken which is a thing, and now wondering if you’ll make cashew chickUn next. This shrimp recipe is amazing as is though. Just got me thinking.
As a non-vegan (but meat conscious) lover of cashew based meats, I'm so stoked to try this later.
I would love to see you doing recipes to serve non-vegan eaters and get their feedback on it, you could maybe convince some people into this lifestyle by showing that vegan food can be delicious too... shout out from Brazil
Wonder if one could blitz them before frying and make jumbo shrimps out of what you needed already, so as to make accurate sized shrimpeh for frying up at a later time? Would love to see that for a po'boy
Do you think boiling them would soften them? Would make a great Po Boy sandwich maybe?
Maybe if frozen before frying they might retain more moisture ,also boiled and maybe a little baking soda in the marinade
So I have experience in working in a kitchen but ive never figured this out, what is mayo for? Just a thickener and help the sauce stick to the food? Or is there a genuine reason in terms of taste/texture? (i dont like mayo so dont eat it but am curious to hear from someone far more experienced)
I love love your channel on making vegan food. I think you need a non-vegan person to test to see how close it is. I definitely want to try some of these recipes (I'm non-vegan, omnivore). I'd love to see normal people do a take on the taste of these recipes. love you guys.
One of the most underrated things about vegan cooking is being able to save and reuse marinades (cooked OR raw)!
Maybe simmering the nuts or steaming would help with the texture
Maybe boil the cashews for 15-30-45? (no idea ^^) minutes? I'll definitively test this. Thank you for your inspiration. As always! : )
Ever tried konjac ? Love to see a video on that shrimp substitute!
Bang bang already subbed! These look delicious!!
hahahah YES haha thank you!!
On the German north sea coast you can find shrimps that are smaller than normal cashews - I try not to use so much oil, but your brine sounds interesting. I really enjoy your creativity!
Bang Bang the subscribe button!!
Love your creativity
I wish you would've showed us the inside of the cashew shrimp
would you please try this with gigantes beans? my bestie is allergic to cashews. :(
Idk about consuming the cashew marinade. I always liked drinking the leftover cashew water personally. But someone told me it's not exacting healthy. I don't remember specifically, just heads up it might be bad unfortunately. It was only one source tho, and I didn't fact check.
..the humble cashew...the silent hero of vegans everywhere...
awesome idea and recipe...be great with glass or rice noodles
or for a vegan fake-away platter...❗

Man, cashews get me full quick to breading and frying would be even faster…IM STILL TRYING IT
They make food thermometers that clip to the pan?!? I'm shopping the wrong stores, obviously. This looks delicious.
Watched a bunch of your videos from 4 years ago and then I watch this one and wow you’ve lost weight! Good job bro btw been looking for a shrimp alternative have you tried making shrimp from lions mane?
Love this idea, where do you come up with this stuff?
I'm thinking about cashew cocktails now, lol. Or maybe cashrimp? 🤔
Everyone's going to know they're not shrimp, but that doesn't mean they're not good. But the algorithm likes hyperbolic titles I guess.
I never liked the texture of shrimp anyway, so I bet I will like these fried cashews. Not a fan of sweet chili sauce, but I like Monica’s idea of eating these with a dipping sauce instead. It could be a fun food for sharing while watching a movie or sitting outside on a nice day. Thanks!
Cashews are very rich in insoluble fiber, I don't think there's a way to soften them without destroying them. It's the same category of fiber that makes corn cobs if that's any indicator of how resilient they are to cooking. But this is a really fun idea! I'd love to see "shrimp" made with other things too.
oh wouldnt it be sooooo funny if your subs actually eat shrimp? that would be disgusting...........ahhh shrimp have eyes thats so ill. and i bet they fed their family meat
this will probably be a stretch but bromelain that's in pineapple reacts to muscle protein and thus softens the meat, cashew isn't meat protein but it's still protein, would there be a chance it has a similar effect thus softening the cashew texture? maybe try soaking them overnight in pineapple and check it out? who knows?
Interesting that you used sugar.🤔 Cashews are so sweet to me, especially raw. I love the smooth texture but have found it difficult to make cheese sauces with them.
Hi chef! may I know which among your vegan bacon recipes is the best for you?????
If u would put some of your liquid in a spray bottle, u can spray your shrimp, an u wouldnt lose the first coating..
Idea: single fry as you've done, toss in the sauce, flour again and then double fry????
Cool idea but I think if you cut out some porcini mushrooms and bread them it would work too, "thank you for this nice Idea"😋👍
You're telling me a shrimp fried this Cashew?
Can I ask why beetroot powder? What does it add? I hate beets so I want to know if I can substitute it or omit it. Thanks!
These look awesome but could you also make a cashew version of coconut shrimp?
These look so good I'm gonna try making them today. And as an Aussie I can say "Throw another cashew on the barbie, mate!"
Taste's like nuts in your mouth, way better than plain nuts, bang bang
Those look like they’d be really good with some white rice and broccoli 🥦 😊
Shrimp is the last meat i've really held onto, maybe i'll try this!
I would know, when I die from eating cashews =D
Would soaking longer increase the Softness, so once you flour and cook they don’t get to tough
Yo I'm not the only one who always tries to pour cornstarch out of the tin and gets it all over the counter
7:35 I'm gonna make soundbites of these quotes 😁
Im vegan but I feel like this would still taste like cashews
There is potential for a drinking game at the last part of the video. xD
Always good for an informative recipe, thanks for rockin' it! *high-fives*
Can the beetroot powder be optional? Thank you.
Id love to tested one but thats waaaaay more ingredients than i ever have on hand.
maybe marinate 72 hours?
5:51 I dunno, maybe boil them to get a softer texture?
I love cashews! I bet that would be awesome with rice and broccoli - maybe even some cubed tofu mixed with the "shrimp."
Think this would work for coconut shrimp? That's my favorite!
had no idea W180 cashews existed and wow, I am definitely looking for these around me! I love how you used these too - they are definitely not shrimp but they are FOR SURE absolutely fantastic - I love the flavors and the idea!
Wild right?? They are huge!! Yeah not shrimp, but it satisfies that bang bang shrimp craving for sure! I was happy with them, ate way too many hahah
I love this idea I am so going to try this❤❤❤❤
I never really liked shrimp, but I'd try this
Love your work SauceStache!
Other idea: simmer the cashews in the broth?
Honey cashews. Can I get these on WIC?
That said, I LOVE Monica.
FLAVORED FRIED CASHEWS!!!😍 more flavors plz!!!
Shrimps is -bugs- cashews
How about using Braggs Aminos in the soak. I am so making this. This would be great with some vegan lo mein. Thanks for the recipe. You and Monica are gifts to civilization ❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍
What if you boil them?
Thinking kelp powder would be a good ingredient for the marinade. Also, a honey walnut “shrimp” dish sounds tasty.
i like how u say 'ka-shoe' lol
ka-👟
"Bing bing bang boom boom."
I'm going to try this with some yam crescent "shrimp" I picked up at the Asian market because hubs is allergic to cashews. Looks delicious!
That looks really good! I love cashews, and one of the few things I miss from before going vegan is fried shrimp!
Genial!!
What if you boiled / blanched the nuts on water for a little while before putting it overnight in the fridge?
I am scared
This looks great, i wonder if rice cakes would give you more of the spongy bite you’re looking for.
Sounds good 😊
I would definitely chow down those cashew scrimps! 🍤
A very creative. Looks delicious. I can see eating these with some yummy rice.
Your creativity knows no bounds, and I'm so here for it.
This has really inspired me. I want to try making a cashew dish.
Ur channel has changed my life.. ❤ blessings to you!!
I want to see a collaboration between Sauce Stache and Giga Foods.

I think mix these with some garlic broccoli and serve with rice and it would be a pretty impressive meal

For the love of god I’m begging you to make the spicy mccrispy sauce
